Description:

Front and back of a business card.

Programs Used:

Objective:

Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign. Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.
Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs. Dont use photos or live trace.Use the new logo
to design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead. Photos are okay on business card and
letterhead as additional design elements. Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional, but trim
only .125. Business card should be 3.5 x 2 and printed above center on a vertical page. Apply typography rules, keeping small copy. Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop shadows and
plenty of white space. Include contact information: name, address, phone, website, and email on each
piece. Use periods, bullets, or spaces in phone number; no parentheses/ hyphens.

Process:

This project was one that I thoroughly enjoyed making. Making a fake company and being able to
design logos and create business cards was pretty cool. I incorportated the logo that I had made, and
different designs to go with wit it. I gave it a candy cane look on the front side of the card. The back
side is where I put all of my contact information, and came up with a fading logo name design from
the top to the bottom of the card.

Process:

This process for this project was very simple as I have been able to gain a better understanding of how
to use InDesign. I new I need to have some sort of pattern with a border for the stationery. I created
these two lines of red and green to give it a good finished look. I then placed my logo in on the top
and the bottom of the page. I changed the effect on the bottom logo to about 20% trasparency.

Brochure
Description:

This brochure project shows information based on a certain topic for people to read and learn about.
It is made with visual aids and text with the intent to fulfill its purpose of the assignment.

Objective:
Process:

This project is one that incorporates many different programs. It took Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator,
and Adobe Indesign. Photoshop was used to clean up and give a more professional look with the photos used, illustrator was used to make a vector logo, and indesign was used for the compilation of the
entire project.
One of my favorite parts of this whole project was the cover of the brochure. I came up with the idea
to cut out the top page outlining the ears of the mickey mouse logo. This was a challenge because I
knew I would have to line up the text on the inside of the brochure perfectly so it wouldnt be cut out.
This was a fun project and I would consider trying different styles of brochures in the future.

Objective:

Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page so the long side is 300 500 pixels.
Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience.
(Minimum of 200 words. Include rationale for colors, appeal to target audience, design skills, etc,)
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. (Include all required tags Doctype (provided), html,
head, title, meta charset (provided), body, h1, h2, p, ol or ul (with li tags), img, br, and a link to
blog)vAcquire a working knowledge of CSS. (Customize the provided CSS provided to format the
HTML to complement the logo design. Change at least the following: The h1 text color & h1 background color, font colors for the paragraphs & list items, the background color, font families and
add at least one css comment.) Identify hex colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker.
Open the HTML page in a web browser and capture a quality screen shot with .5 inch margins for
printing.

Process:

Coding was one aspect of taking this course that I never thought I would learn to use. I found that if
you follow the steps and the rules of HTML and CSS it is very simple to get a finished look of what
you want. This project was one were ideas came to me as I went. I loved the color scheme that I chose
to match the background image. It was a very easy, and long process, and I really enjoyed doing it.

Logos
Description:

Description: This project was one of my favorite ones that I have made all semester! It means a lot to
me because I had the idea to implement my last name in the name of this business that I had thought
of to make these logos for. It has three logos that could be used for a company if it were to ever be
made.

Programs Used:
Adobe Illustrator

Objective:

Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to
the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs. Use only the Illustrator tools to
create and draw your logos. (No Illustrator pre-fabricated flares, symbols, etc.. No photos or live-tracing. You may use an image or drawing as a guide to trace it with the pen/pencil, but delete the image
before submitting.) Gather opinions from at least ten people about which logo appeals most to them.

Process:

I used Adobe Illustrator, and was able to learn a lot from using this program. I used the pen tool to
create the logos that you see before you. All of this was created by me and I feel pleased with my ability
to use the pen tool and this program. I knew that I wanted to have a logo that incorporated the name
of the company and that is where the santa hat turned to be a cell phone came from. The top logo
was one that I loved as it is very simple and clean looking. Finally, the train logo was just a fun idea to
make a toy with the company name on it.

Montage
Description:

This is a montage project that incorporates many different pictures on top of each other to give it a
nice faded look.

Programs Used:
Photoshop,

Course/Instructor:

Objective:

Use the FOCUS design process with strong focal point and flow Unify a layout with a consistent
theme and dominant spiritual message Learn to blend two or more images together gradually,
using masks Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements Use
a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events
or scripturesyour choice) Format type: Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size.
Theme word(s) Select good quality images

Process:

I am becoming more and more familiar with Photoshop, and the many tools, skills, and steps necessary with editing and making images like this one. I am very surprised with my ability to use this
program, and how far I have come after little to no experience with Photoshop. There is still a lot for
me to learn with this program.
I am a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and I have always wanted to incorporate my favorite team
with a visual media design. The quote used was the inspiration of my design to place one of the great
pitchers of the past, Sandy Koufax with the greatest pitcher of our day. It was very difficult to mask the
pitcher on the right to give him a old legendary look.

Description:

This Project brought great understanding and learning for me. I was able to learn a lot by scanning in my picture and turning a single picture into my final product.

Objective:

Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together) Find, scan and import a high-quality image.Create a full-bleed design. Choose a color scheme and t.ypeface(s) that work for your message and audience. Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process:

I used photo shop, and Microsoft word. I was able to learn how to change the size of the picture with
the amount of pixels per inch in the photo. I was also very surprised with how I could use a program
like word to create what I did.
I had found this image in a magazine and was able to scan it and do some editing in photoshop. I
came up with the idea to have this be for a class to learn how to do family history. The tree was made
to look transparent and connect with the titile of my event ad.

Objective:

Learn basic photography skills. Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout. Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-destructive editing.) Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.511 page layout. Use layers to design text,
and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop. Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8 (0.125)
from all four sides.

Process:

This process of taking pictures of different settings with a digital camera was a new experience for me.
I had never really been accustomed to this form of communication before, but it was overall a great
experience. The process of finding things to take pictures of was a hard thing to do. I didnt want to
find boring things to take pictures of, and I also didnt want to take them wrong. I found that the ones
that I took were great and I it was fun to do.
The photoshop experience was one that I was a little familiar with. I had partial experience with using
this application in previous communication classes, and also working at my internship last summer at
Fox Network. The only thing that I struggled with was the sharpening tool. I couldnt really find out
how to use it, but I believe that I was able to make some changes for each picture with it. It was a great
activity to do so I could get used to the program and where things are.

Flier
Description:

The description of this project was to be able to make a flier for a Graduate Leadership Conference
with the idea to attract soon to be graduates. The goal was to be able to attract them with the appropriate title and font size, that then leads down to them know what they had to do in order to gain more
information about it. The ultimate goal was to make it look appealing enough so they would remember about the conference.

Objective:

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on this page. Create a project folder with
image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.

Process:

The program that I used for this project were InDesign, and the many tools that comes with it. I was
able to find that through trial and error I was able to gain a great understanding of InDesign. However
I am still learning the many aspects of the program and I look forward to gaining more understanding. This project was one that didnt turn out to be that original. I took a lot of things that I had seen
from other examples of this same project and combine them together.
