TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS

Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 25-27; Luke 10:22-42

Col. 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all
wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the
scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

Dear Lord and Heavenly Redeemer:

Perfection is not in me! Every day I learn that. Each of my tears weeps
imperfect. Every sigh bursting from my heart cries imperfect. Everytime I
use hard words with others, my lips are muttering imperfect.
I look into the depths of my own heart too often to believe for one second
I can have perfection in myself. Lord, surely every unsaved person I know has
come to the same conclusion, if they would just admit it. Make __________ and
__________ confess it today. There is no perfection in themselves or what they
do. And then, just in the middle of that sad admission, use me to give them a
hope they can grab ontothe comfort of Christthat they can be imperfect
everywhere else, but made perfect in Christ Jesus!
In Gods sight, Lord make them complete in him. Let not one more week
go by where they are incomplete, unsatisfied, and missing the necessary
ingredient for eternal life. Even now they can be accepted in the beloved. Help them
grasp that, while you empower me to communicate it. For then, every stain of
sin will be removed. Every blot will be released. They can be made without spot
or wrinkle (or anything approaching it), if only they will get in Christ. Not even
the omniscient eye of God will be able to see a blemish or a fault. How glorious!
With my Saviors robe of righteousness on, I am as holy as the Holy One.
Then they can know, and sense, and feel the happiness of this one short
sentence: perfect in Christ Jesus. Holy Father, take the worm and transform him or
her into a bride. Take the deformed sinner and make him whole, because you
delight to do this to show forth the glory of Jesus today. Amen.

Holy Lord My God:

You uttered seven last words from the cross. Seven is the number of
perfection and completion. It is the number that blends the trinity of the infinite
God with the four of complete creation. Lord in your death criesas in all else
you were perfection itself! These seven words confirm many of the major
doctrines of my faith.
1. Father forgive them, for they know not what they do, is the first cry from the
cross. Here is free forgiveness based in faith in the Saviors plea. Salvation.
2. To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Here is eternal safety for the believer.
Security.
3. Woman, behold thy son! This statement certifies your human side, because
to the end you recognized your human relationship to Mary. Yet your language
teaches us not to worship her, because you call her woman.
4. Eloi, Eloi, lama sbachthani? The fourth cry illustrates the penalty you
endured as my substitute, when you bore my sins and were forsaken by your
Father. The sharpness of that sentence makes me love you all the more.
5. I thirst. This fifth cry teaches me the truthfulness of the Bible, because it
was uttered that all scripture might be fulfilled. The next word is just one in the
Greek, and translated with three in the English:
6. It is finished. There I see complete justification for the believer. The work
by which I am accepted was fully accomplished. The last of the seven cries shows
where your mind was feeding.
7. Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. There is reconciliation with God!

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 1-3; Luke 12:1-30
Friday, April 17

Gen. 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his
generations, and Noah walked with God.

ALAS! and did my Savior bleed and did my Sovreign die?

Would He devote that sacred head for such a worm as I?
Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thineand bathed in its own blood
While the firm mark of wrath divine, His soul in anguish stood.
Was it for crimes that I had done He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown! And love beyond degree!
Well might the sun in darkness hide and shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died, for man the creatures sin.
Thus might I hide my blushing face while His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness, and melt my eyes to tears.
But drops of grief can neer repay the debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give myself away, tis all that I can do.
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 28-29; Luke 11:1-27
Wednesday, April 15
Num. 23:23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any
divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What
hath God wrought!
O God Who Is My Watchman:
How many times have I feared not only what man could do unto me, but
demons could do as well? I have trembled at my own lack of spirituality and how
it must play into the hands of the Devil. Surely, on the field of spiritual battle I
am especially vulnerable to oppression as well as deception.
This one verse alone, however, cuts-up all my superstitious fearsroot and
branch. Even if there were any truth to divination, omens, and the ability of
spiritual forces to oppose, they could not oppose me. You do not allow them to
cross that bridge and enter the realm of affecting the fate of the people of the
Lord. Those whom God has blessed, even the Devil himself cannot curse.
But help, Lord! I have ungodly men and women against me. Just like
Balaam they cunningly plot to overthrow my good. Yet even with all their secrecy
and conspiracy they are doomed to fail. Their powder is damp; their sword is
dull. Strike they might, but the Lord is not with them. They conspire in vain.
Give me tranquility even when I can see them weaving their nets, because I
will not fall in them. Though they employ the serpentine craft of Beelzebub, it
will not prevail for them. Their spells will not work. Their divinations will deceive
them. Their conspiracy will be overthrown because no one can wrestle with God
and succeed.
I need not fear the fiend himself, nor any of his secret armies. They cannot
touch those whose faith is in the living Lord whom I worship. Let me go
forth today to triumph in revival in Christ Jesus. Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 4-6; Luke 12:31-59
Saturday, April 18

1 Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Psa. 32:10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD,
mercy shall compass him about.

Gracious God and Heavenly Savior:

We ask you to work in us according to your word. Work in us such a holy
love we will give you all we have. Make us feel just like your word says, I am not
my own. Make it not a skinny emotion that overpowers us for a little while, but a
substantial life-force constraining us forever! Change us in our very personality.
2 Cor. 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live
unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
Make it so Lord, for your people. We pray for grace to spend all our time,
use every faculty, and all we possess to glorify you, Lord and Master, among the
sons of men. Be pleased to accept our thanksgiving for special mercies along the
way. Prosper us, as we seek souls for the Son in living out your Eternal Purpose!
Bless us, any and all, who in any way try to make known the savor of the
name Jesus to the lost. Give our humble tongues fire from above to tell about
the cross. Give us in our church a fervor and earnestness, sincerity and depth,
and power to bring sinners to Christ!
Psa. 45:17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall
the people praise thee for ever and ever.
Give us grace Lordas people and pastorsto reach out with your love to
the lost. We know who the dying ones are, because they are hurting. They have
looked up and down Gilead for balm for their soul and found none. At their
moment of deepest need and despair, have us there to share Jesus. Minister to us
through your word so we are strengthened to live to your Eternal Purpose, for
this we ask in Jesus precious name. Amen.

Almighty and Merciful God:

What a great reward you give for my trust! You reject willpower, but you
work through spiritual faith by my free will. Father, grant me faith in fullness this
weekend. The truster feels himself to be a sinner more than anyone else does, but
mercy is prepared for that person. I know myself to deserve nothing, yet mercy
comes into my life from you, new every day and fresh every morning (Lam 3:2223). Lord, give me your mercy even as I trust in you right now.
What a bodyguard I have! Just like the President is surrounded with security
agents, so I am compassed about with your mercy. In front and behindaround
on all sidesride the mounted guards of grace. You have put me in the center of
your solar system of love, because I dwell in Christ Jesus the Lord.
What an atmosphere for my soul to breathe! Just like air surrounds me,
even so does your mercy. I can pray it in. To those who hate you there are many
sorrows, but to me there are so many mercies that my sorrows arent worth even
mentioning! As David says,
Psa. 32:11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye
that are upright in heart.
In obedience to this Bible principle I will do like David and command my
heart to triumph in you. Make my gladness a testimony to others, and just as you
have surrounded me with mercy, so surround others today that their darkened
minds may be lightened, and their blindness taken away. Then let us all surround
your throne together with songs of thanksgiving and praise!
For so I ask it in Jesus name and to his glory. Amen.

THIS WEEKS EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)

TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions

asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.
3)

TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)

Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
