Senior Saints in the Smokies

May 25-29, 2015
This week is your final opportunity to register for Senior Saints in the Smokies
and qualify for the early bird special rate. The registration fee is $50 and the
total (including registration) is just $240, if you register by April 15.
We are asking that you put your name on the sign-up sheet, posted on our main
bulletin board, so that we can know how many plan to attend. We invite you
to travel in our church vans. (We share the cost of gas.) If you plan to go and
have mailed your registration, please circle the number by your name on the
sign-up sheet. If you have questions, contact Dave Tingler at 654-4223 or
503-7061.

We are looking for three

people to help on May 9th to
hand out water bottles for an
event at the YMCA. We
also need donations of six
24-packs of water bottles (16
oz.) More details about this
event will follow. If you can
help with this, please let
Brad know.

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

This past Sunday we celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord. For those who the Lord appeared to, it
must have been an exciting time once they discovered it was the Messiah. He had risen just as He said
He would. Tear down this temple, and I will rebuild it in three days. For those who put Him on the
cross, those words must have been foolish. But Jesus knew the truth because He is the Truth.
Just who was guilty of killing Jesus? Some say the Romans. They were the ones who ruled the land.
After all, it was the Roman soldiers who viciously ripped open His flesh. Some say Pilate was to blame.
Hes the one who gave into the crowd. Some say the Jews and they use it as a means to hate these
people to this day. After all, they had him killed because he was a threat to their authority and they are
the ones who drove Him to the cross. It seems like that exhausts the list of people who were
responsible. Oh but wait, it seems that we have left someone off that list. Who could it be? Huh? We
forget to take our share of the blame. The Bible says, For while we were yet sinners, Christ died for
us. The Bible also says that He who knew no sin, became sin for us, that we might become the
righteousness of God. You see, there is plenty of room for blame to go around. It has been said, when
we blame others we B lame. It is my prayer that we daily recognize all that Christ has done to
show us mercy, even though we do not deserve such grace. Just something to think about!
I want to say thanks again to those who planned, assisted and served the breakfast for our Easter meal.
I also want to say thanks to our childrens ministry volunteers who serve in our Nursery, SS, and
Childrens Church. You are making a difference! A special thanks again to all who worked hard with our
children to present their Easter skit and for those who planned and setup for the Easter party.
I want to thank Dave for filling in for me today while Kim and I are in West Virginia for Ryland and
Jessicas formal ceremony.
Men, this is the last day to sign up for the retreat at RLCA. You can sign up in the coat room. Again the
cost for the evening program is $25. That pays for the evening events, which includes a great steak
dinner. Your fishing is free. Any guy that wants to go and play golf during the morning, there will be an
additional $27 fee for your tee time.
In His Service,
Brad

9am - noon
Thanks to all who helped us out with our
Easter skit and party! We had fun
celebrating together and bringing the
message of Easter to the congregation. Our
party was made possible because of selfless
volunteers giving their time, talent,
donations, and positive attitudes! Thanks
again to all of you.

We will be working on preemie/baby hats to

give to the hospital. Bring any hats you are
working on, or come join us to make one. Yarn
and hook will be provided. Or, just come and
bring whatever other project you are working
on and join the fellowship of other crafters!

WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE!

At FACC, we focus on loving God, loving people,
and turning the world upside down.
We are happy you chose to worship with us today. We hope you
return next week and bring your friends with you. If you would
please take a few minutes to fill out a Silent Roll Call Card,
located on the back of the pew, you can then place it in the
offering plate as it is passed. Thank you. For more information
about our great church, contact our minister, Brad Seevers at
Brad@new-churches.org or call him at 740.550.9882. Have a
great week and may God bless your life.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that
Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a
Christian.
Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.
Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.
Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life.
Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and
to receive the Holy Spirit into your life.
To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during
our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized
believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on
Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further.
We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better
understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to
take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of
Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate
Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2).
We focus on Jesus through grace-based
preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is
our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Church Health and Biblical Balance
Church health becomes reality when God's people
seek harmony & live consistently. We expect
every member to protect the unity of Christ's
Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)
Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide
evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is
the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts
20:27).
Fellowship and Ministry
After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will
equip them to find a ministry based upon their
strengths. We want everyone to serve in some
capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want
His church to be the living evidence of His love
and power to the world.
Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth
Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all
about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily
relationship with Him through a life of
obedience. In other words, we want to see the
things you are taught actually change your
lifestyle & your daily decisions.
Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life,
OURand
PURPOSE
of Biblical marriage
morality, and we welcome
ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
WE EXIST TO

Exalt Gods Greatness;

Evangelize Gods Work
Equip Gods People
Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ

OUR MISSION

To Love God and Love People!
