Epilepsy Central nervous system disorder of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain send out the

wrong signals
Cause: illness, brain injury, and abnormal brain development. In many cases, the cause is
unknown.
Signs & Symptoms
Clenched teeth
Muscle Spasms
Confusion
Irregular breathing
Falling
Unusual noises
Difficulty speaking
Loss of bowel or bladder control
Unusual behavior

Obstructive sleep apnea- sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts
Cause: When the muscles relax, airway narrows or closes as you breathe in
Signs & Symptoms:

Excessive daytime sleepiness


Loud snoring
Observed episodes of breathing cessation during sleep
Abrupt awakenings accompanied by shortness of breath
Awakening with a dry mouth or sore throat
Awakening with chest pain
Morning headache
Difficulty concentrating during the day
Experiencing mood changes, such as depression or irritability
Difficulty staying asleep (insomnia)

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Metabolic disorder that affects the way our body processes glucose
Cause: Pancreas is not producing insulin or body cells no longer recognize
Signs & Symptoms

increased thirst
Increased hunger (especially after eating)
Dry mouth
Nausea and sometimes vomiting
Increased urination
Fatigue (weak, tired feeling)
Blurred vision
Numbness or tingling of the hands or feet
Reoccurring infections of the skin, urinary tract, or vagina
Sores that are slow to heal
COPD - Group of lung diseases that block airflow and make breathing difficult
Cause: main cause is smoking. It can also be caused by inhaling fumes, cooking and heating
poorly ventilated home.
Signs and Symptoms

Shortness of breath during physical activity


Wheezing
Chest tightness
Having to clear your throat first thing in the morning, due to excess mucus in your lungs
A chronic cough that produces sputum that may be clear, white, yellow or greenish
Blueness of the lips or fingernail beds (cyanosis)
Frequent respiratory infections
Lack of energy
Parkinson's Disease -Affects the central nervous system that causes low levels of dopamine.
Signs& Symptoms:

tremor

rigidity

bradykinesia, or akinesia

loss of ability to swallow

blank expression

difficulty initiating movement

mask-like expression

Cellulitus- Bacterial skin infection


Cause: bacteria enters skin through a non intact skin
Signs and symptoms:
pain and tenderness in the affected area

redness or inflammation on your skin


skin sore or rash that appears and grows quickly
tight, glossy, swollen appearance of the skin
a feeling of warmth in the affected area
fever
Sepsis- Infection that spreads to the blood stream
Causes: localized infection that spreads overwhelming the immune system
Sings & Symptoms:

Fever and shaking chills or, alternatively, a very low body temperature

Decreased urination
Rapid pulse
Rapid breathing
Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhea

UTI - Infection in any part of the urinary tract


Cause: bacteria travels to urethra can be used from not wiping properly
Signs & Symptoms

burning sensation during urination


frequent or intense urge to urinate, even though little comes out when you do
Pain or pressure in your back or lower abdomen
Cloudy, dark, bloody, or strange-smelling urine
Feeling tired or shaky
Fever or chills (a sign the infection may have reached the kidneys)
Dysphagia- Difficulty swallowing
Causes: muscles in the throat or esophagus are not working properly

Signs & Symptoms:

Being unable to swallow


pain while swallowing
Having the sensation of food getting stuck in your throat or chest or behind your breastbone
(sternum)
Drooling
Bringing food back up (regurgitation)
Having frequent heartburn
Having food or stomach acid back up into your throat
Unexpectedly losing weight
Coughing or gagging when swallowing

Anemia- lack of healthy red blood cells and hemoglobin


Causes:

Loss of blood

Destruction of red blood cells

Red blood cells are not being production

Signs & Symptoms:

Weakness
Pale skin
A fast or irregular heartbeat
Shortness of breath
Chest pain
Dizziness
Cognitive problems
Cold hands and feet
Headache

Fatigue
Hypertension abnormal high blood presssure
Causes:
Smoking
Being overweight or obese

Lack of physical activity


Too much salt in the diet
Too much alcohol consumption (more than 1 to 2 drinks per day)
Stress
Older age
Genetics
Family history of high blood pressure
Chronic kidney disease
Adrenal and thyroid disorders

Signs & Symptoms:


Most people don't have symptoms for hypertension but some do experience headaches or dizziness
Chronic kidney disease- gradual kidney functional
Cause: Diabetes and Hypertension damaging blood vessels can cause CKD
Signs & Symptoms:
Urinate less than normal.

Have swelling and weight gain and edema


Feel very tired.
Lose your appetite or have an unexpected weight loss.
Feel nauseated or vomit.
Be either very sleepy or unable to sleep
headaches or have trouble thinking clearly.

Congestive heart failure - Heart does not pump enough blood


Cause: weakness of the heart causes fluid buildup in the lungs
Signs & Symptoms

Shortness of breath
Fatigue and weakness
Swelling (edema) in your legs, ankles and feet
Rapid or irregular heartbeat
Reduced ability to exercise
Persistent cough or wheezing with white or pink blood-tinged phlegm
Increased need to urinate at night
Swelling of your abdomen (ascites)
Sudden weight gain from fluid retention
Lack of appetite and nausea
Difficulty concentrating or decreased alertness

Sudden, severe shortness of breath and coughing up pink, foamy mucus


Hyperlipidemia- high amounts of fat in the blood-tinged
Causes: Smoking, obesity and not exercising. Can be genetic
Signs& Symptoms: There no symptoms
