PRESIDENT, WORLDVENTURES
ew beginnings. Its what every years resolutions
promise; a better way of being in the future. For
some, this is about health; for others, money,
vacation, pursuing their passion more time doing
something they love. For us, right now, its about an even
clearer focus on you, our partners, and our customers.

Weve enjoyed a period of great success and prosperity as

a company and helped provide a vehicle for many of you
to experience the same. That said, laurels make a very
uncomfortable seat. Were never satisfied with our current
state. Its not that we wont allow ourselves to feel some
level of fulfillment in success, but rather that we continue to
evolve, mature and aspire, just like you.
And lets face it, the audience is always watching, always
listening for the next bit of good news and inspiration. And
were always working to deliver just that. Ever expanding
the quality and value of our products, always working to
enrich the opportunity and to provide even better tools
and technology to support them and you. To be clear,
this isnt about piling on benefits and fancier videos
necessarily. Its more holistic in scope. Its how we are
creating an experience from end to end for every customer

of WorldVentures. This is you, our Reps, your members and

travel customers, and our employees.
Our brand, culture, community and products will be seen by
many times more people than in any year past and its just
the beginning. We will have a new audience and new types of
relationships with new types of customers that will learn how
they, too, can earn vacations, share their experiences and be
rewarded for doing so. This expanded audience will be vast,
and they will help us spread the mission worldwide.
Given the size of the opportunity and the weight of the
obligation, we know that nothing short of all out massive
action must be the constant state of our effort. And as we
enter what will be undoubtedly the biggest and most exciting
year of growth and evolution for WorldVentures, I want to
share with you: Were ready.
So, watch every communication. Plug in. Well be sharing
more, step by step every month. Weve been working for the
last two years to share this vision in complete fashion, and
the groundwork is finally laid. Now, we saddle up and hang
on for the ride of our lives. 2015 promises to be a lot of fun.
And as I said, were ready. Are you?

WORLDVENTURES
TRUST COUNCIL

BY ED BLUNT
verything runs smoother and
more efficiently when trust is
at the core of any foundation.
Trust is a gradual process
developed over time based on
the congruency of your words and
your actions.

For instance, if I make a commitment

to pursue an issue, and if I cannot
follow through, it affects my credibility,
which makes others question how
reliable I can be. Even if you forgive me
the first time, because everyone makes
mistakes, my word may eventually
become meaningless if I make a
habit of not fulfilling my promises.
Developing this type of reputation will
make it impossible for me as a critical
member of the WorldVentures Trust
Council to have any kind of significant,
meaningful relationship with members
on my team or my downline.
If I apply the significance of trust in the
context of a DreamTrips vacation, there
are various key points to consider.
As a Representative, when we share
the product, we explain that these
DreamTrips are unique because of
the quality of the accommodations,
personal service, price point and
customized experience. We are setting
the expectation that we are offering a

product that is unlike anything else in

the travel industry due to its sense of
elegance and class. The WorldVentures
Corporate Team takes care of the resort
quality and services, but we are largely
responsible for the experience.
If someone excitedly books a joyous
experience and attends their first
DreamTrip only to discover others
behaving obnoxiously or acting
foolish in public, we have just
broken their trust. Unfortunately,
the decisions of others with no selfawareness or respectful regard for
first-time DreamTrippers can ruin
it for our entire company, but that
is the reality of doing business in
the personal experience arena on an
international scale. What I do as a
Rep affects you, and what you do as a
Rep and DreamTrips Member affects
me, even if we dont know each other
personally because we are a part of
One Big Family.
If there is one thing we can each do
to build trust with our DreamTrips
Members, its to hold each other
accountable for our high code of
conduct. In other words, have fun, but
dont do anything you wouldnt want
put up on a movie screen for all the
world to see!

Trust is a gradual process developed

over time based on the congruency of
your words and your actions.

WHO
IS YOUR

COACH?

Anything worth
doing will have
challenges.
BY MARC ACCETTA
egardless of their skill level, all of the
greatest athletes in the world have a
coach! Not even outliers like Michael
Jordan, Lionel Messi or Tiger Woods are
foolish enough to think they can be their best
without a coach.

I have ended up becoming. I now realize

that any great coach sees something greater
in their players than we see in ourselves!
Then they do whatever they can to help us
reach the higher self that they believe we
can become.

Most people know that having a coach is

the norm in sports. The problem is, earning
money is not a sport, so therefore most
people think they can do it without a coach!
I tried it that way for about 28 years and I got
the same result almost everyone else in life
does. I failed miserably!

So first of all ... do you have a coach in

your business? If not, do you want one or
understand the need for one? If you do, then
get one immediately! Even if you simply
come to our live events with thousands of
other Reps in attendance and let me be your
coach on stage, as I did with my mentor. The
bottom line is, find someone to guide you.

Then I found a mentor and he became my

coach. I didnt have any one-to-one coaching
from him at all for several years. I simply
attended his seminars regularly and was a very
attentive student. I applied what he taught me
and my results started to increase. When they
became significant enough, he sought me out
and offered more personal consulting. As you
can imagine, I was thrilled.
My results exploded under his personal
tutelage. It was not always easy being
coached by him, though. He was usually
very tough on me, expecting me to achieve
much more than I thought I was capable of
doing. He was usually unwilling to accept my
reasons or excuses for not achieving what he
expected of me. Many nights I went to bed
thinking less than happy thoughts about him.
Now I know that if he had not pushed me, I
would have ended up being a fraction of what

Make sure you do not let just anyone fill that

role, though. Many people allow someone
to coach them without even asking if that
person has enough success in the field to
warrant them being anyones coach. My
mentor told me that success leaves clues.
Find someone who has what you want and
LISTEN TO THEM! If you dont know how
to find one, choose a virtual one from our
Advantage program.
Anything worth doing will have challenges.
All careers have skill sets that must be
learned. WorldVentures is no exception to
that. Dont try to win your game without a
qualified coach. Have a students mindset
and seek wisdom from a mentor with the
same intensity as a person who is dying of
thirst in a desert seeks water! Finding my
coach made all the difference for me, and it
will make all the difference for you too.

MASTER IN THE ART OF LIVING

SHELLEY BLANZYS

BY SCOTT KRAMER

hen Toledo, Ohio native and Regional

Marketing Director Shelley Blanzy was
two years old, her father passed away.
Her mom was left as a single parent of seven
children. Her mother had limited skills, no drivers
license and no education, but she did qualify for
welfare and social security. So thats how the
family was raised.
It was a very difficult childhood, recalls Blanzy,
who herself has no formal college education. But
I was the girl who always had a dream and knew
there must be more to life than this.
After being a stay-at-home mom for quite some
time, Blanzy became inspired by a friend of hers
who was making really good money with a direct
sales company. So Blanzy jumped on board. Soon,
the former hair stylist was extremely successful,
selling skin care products and makeup to women,
earning six figures within six months and driving a
white Mercedes paid for by her company. She was
content, not looking for anything else.
Then one day she came home from a day
of meetings and her sons football coach, a
WorldVentures Rep, was sitting at the table with
her then-husband. I put up the cross sign with
my fingers and told him I wasnt interested,
recalls Blanzy. I saw him physically shrink
in his chair. I felt bad, so I asked him to leave
some information for me. He left me a copy of
SUCCESS magazine, in which WorldVentures was
featured. One day I sat down and looked at the
magazine. It showed both men and women doing
WorldVentures. A light bulb went off. I figured
if I could make this much money working with
just women currently, imagine what I could do
working with both men and women.

10

Her personal life was soon in

disarray, but she did wind up joining
WorldVenturesa move that
definitively helped balance her life.
It may have even saved her life. I am
a true rags-to-riches story, growing
up in poverty and then living a dream
life, says Blanzy. I didnt grow up
with a silver spoon in my mouth, but I
learned how to put one there and keep
it there. After I found out about all the
infidelity in my marriage, I chose to
divorce my husband rather than to live
a lie. Once the divorce started, I found
out we were nearly a million dollars
in debt. I almost lost everything.
If I had not chosen WorldVentures
as my Plan B and actually built it, I
wouldve lost everything. I wouldve
become another one of the 74 percent
of women to fall into poverty after
death or divorce. But I had a backup plan and chose to fight and win.
WorldVentures taught me to fight, to
believe, to grow my faith, and create
the money I needed as a tool to save
things instead of just reaching money
freedom as a goal.
Today she is indeed fulfilling her
dreams. Blanzys a single mom of
three incredible children, living in
the Chicago suburb of Naperville.
She values her family, friends and
relationships. However, one of the
most important things she values is
the power of her word. That means
being a person of complete integrity,
says Blanzy.

I honor integrity in relationships

because people know they can
count on me. My word is truly
my bond. In business, they know
they can trust me. If someone
trusts me, they will follow my
leadership and have success.
Contributing to others is critical
to my mission in life.
And as a result, her beliefs
greatly influence her life and her
business. Adhering to them is
like her own personal game plan
for life that helps her maintain a
high quality of living. And because
those beliefs stream through
everything she does, work and
play become one and the same for
her, because of the standards shes
set her life by.
My beliefs are powerful, says
Blanzy, who finds those beliefs
a source of inspiration. I stand
on the fact that we are all born
with a dream. But most people
never go after them, because
they get comfortable inside their
limiting beliefs. I am not limited
in my thinking. I know if I choose
something I can achieve it, and
I teach that to others. In my
personal life, I teach my kids to
chase their dreams, have integrity
and do their best. And the results
will follow. In business, its the
same. Get comfortable being
uncomfortable, coming out of
limiting beliefs and they can
Be, Do and Have whatever
they choose.
WorldVentures Co-founder and
Chief Visionary Officer Wayne
Nugent is known as the Master of
the Art of Living, and that mantra
flows down through everyone else
in the company. To Blanzy, that
takes on a unique meaning.
The ultimate mastery in life
is creating balance, she says,
which is much easier to achieve
when you own your time. Below,
is her personal interpretation of
Waynes division of the Master
of the Art of Living into five
categorieseliciting spiritual,
physical, emotional, intellectual
and financial well-being.
Spiritually: I am a Christian
woman of faith. I have a strong
belief in God. I host a Bible
study in my home every Monday,
allowing myself and others to
grow in the word of God. I seek
God in all things, allowing his
fullness to encompass my life.

11

Physically: I eat well, I exercise

and I enjoy taking care of my body.
I know its the only vehicle I get
to use in this one life journey so I
work hard to honor it.
Emotionally: I have read, and
continue to read, a wide variety of
personal growth and development
books, listen to audios and attend
seminars to learn more about
growing as a human being. I love
freely without condition. I have a
close group of friends to talk with
and mentor through the days of
breakdown. Some days I laugh,
and some days I cry. I am human
and Im OK with whatever comes
my way because I always know,
as the good book says, This too
shall pass.

full-time, stay-at-home mother;

showing her children how to live
life instead of survive it; helping
them control their mindset; and
being a true, positive role model
and impact their lives where they
have quality time. Loving my kids
fully is my biggest achievement in
life, she says.

Financially: I am very grateful

that early in my life I learned
that money is a tool to facilitate
what I want out of life, providing
opportunity an access. I know how
to make money. I know how to
save money. I know how to keep
it. Money is a tool that I leverage
to create my life, not control my
life. I am an avid giver. I know
that the more I give and sow into
helping others, the more I get back
in return. I cannot outgive God
and since he is a God of more than
enough, I never have lack.

Blanzy fully expects WorldVentures

to make a significant impact on
her life and the lives of others
around her. She says the company
will continue to literally and
progressively change her life. It
sounds odd to say such a thing
about a business opportunity,
but WorldVentures is far more
than that, she says. Our saying
of fun, freedom and fulfillment
manifests in my life fully with this
company. Ive been on more trips
and had more fun in my life than
ever before. I have time, freedom
and peace of mind because I know
my success is based on my efforts.
I work hard so that I can own my
life. But where WorldVentures
has had the most impact is in
fulfillment. All Ive ever wanted to
do is matter in the world. Ive been
able to help families retire, cross off
bucket-list trips and make enough
money to save for a house. But
most importantly, I like to instill
belief in them. Watching others
achieve their dreams because I get
to lead them and pour into them
is the most fulfilling thing in the
world to me. WorldVentures isnt
my business; its my lifestyle of
contribution to other people. And
that makes me matter.

As you can tell, Blanzy is very

committed to her beliefs and is
able to organize and address every
aspect of her life. She considers
her biggest achievements in life
owning her time so she can be a

If thats not the sign of someone

becoming a master in the art of
living, then nothing is. I cant
tell you how blessed I am to be
part of this company, she says.
Thank you, WorldVentures.

Intellectually: Daily, I feed my

mind, seeking business advice,
learning new things, and keeping
my mind active with positive
information to keep it healthy
and growing.

LIVING THE

WITH JONATHAN GOOCH

14

BY GLENN EDDIE GILL

Jonathan speaks candidly about their experience
as owners of two restaurants. I was raised my
whole life hearing about the American Dream
and when we opened our restaurants we quickly
found it to be the American nightmare.
He elaborates about the brick-and-mortar
restaurants they owned in their native
Tennessee. We were prisoners to our own
businesses. We couldnt afford to take time off,
and my wife and little girl were at one location
while I was at the other location, so time with
my family was very limited.

ould there have been a more jawdropping, more eye-watering or more

humbling surprise?

It was Oct. 19, 2014, at A View from the Edge in

Atlanta, and the Kim Eaton Hero Award was
about to be announced. Past award winner
Bethany Webster was delivering a heartfelt
profile of the 2014 recipient. She was citing
the recipients many admirable traits, speaking
of the hard work, describing the adversity the
person has turned to advantage, leading up to a
crescendo of the honorees name.
Seated in the audience were Jonathan and
Kwinn Gooch, Regional Marketing Directors
with WorldVentures for six years.
As Bethany was reciting a litany of personal and
professional accomplishments that the 2014
winner possessed, a thought crossed Jonathans
mind. I would love to meet this person.
And then Bethany announced, The 2014 Kim
Eaton Hero Award recipient is Jonathan Gooch!
Months later, Jonathan would reflect on that
instant in time: When she called my name, I
was in complete shock and was overcome with
so many emotions. The Kim Eaton Hero Award
stands for everything our company is about, and
to know that my peers and the WorldVentures
executives chose me as an example of those
characteristics was a huge honor.
Despite the inspiring introduction, few in the
audience had any idea of the path that led to
Jonathan taking the stage that day.
The Gooches journey had been both as
business owners and spiritual leaders.

It was their breakneck, unrelenting, seven-daya-week restaurant pace that piqued Jonathans
interest in WorldVentures. In short, it sounded
remarkably simpler than being a restaurateur.
Jonathan was introduced to WorldVentures
and didnt approach it with a lot of vigor at
the outset. In fact, Kwinn said, You spent
$500 on WorldVentures? Thats stupid. We
worked hard for that money. It sounds like a
waste. Eventually she gave Jonathan a halfhearted thumbs up and said, if he wanted to try
WorldVentures, he should go for it, but please,
just leave her out of it.
Despite Kwinns reserved enthusiasm and
Jonathans limited time for WorldVentures,
calamity would lead them to embrace the
opportunities that WorldVentures would offer.
Over the next six months, their world crumbled.
Jonathan remembers it well. We lost
everything we owned. They came and took our
cars and our truck. We were 28 minutes from
losing our home. At the lowest point in all this
misfortune, the church which I led came to me
and asked me to no longer be their pastor.
At that point, Jonathan knew two things: First,
that the struggle they were battling could
define them or how they emerged from the
struggle could define them; and second, that
WorldVentures just might be the Godsend that
they needed at that moment.
As quickly as things had crumbled, things began
to be rebuilt and the new structures that were
being built in their lives were better than the old.
He had a simple epiphany. When the economy
crashed in 2008 and our restaurants financially
crumbled, I quickly shifted my focus and energy
toward WorldVentures. I began to realize that
the true American Dream was possible through

building a network and being rewarded for

impacting peoples lives. This is something that
was not attainable through our restaurants.
Thanks to mentors like Byron Schrag and the stepby-step training that WorldVentures makes easily
accessible to everyone, the road to success for the
Gooches was rapid because they worked diligently
at it. And the stress was miniscule compared to
running two restaurants. In fact, the pressure to
spread the WorldVentures message was fun.
Jonathan says, If I had to start all over again
tomorrow, honestly I probably wouldnt change
anything. Everything that has happened over
the last six-and-a-half years has strengthened
not only my WorldVentures business, but also
my marriage, and my relationships with my
kids, and Ive drawn closer to God. Your test
will lead you to your testimony.
The DreamTrips have been a highlight of the
Gooches rise in the ranks of WorldVentures.
The family favorite was a four-day, actionpacked, pre-Christmas trip to New York City
that even included being shown on NBCs
TODAY holding a You Should Be Here sign.
The Gooch children have their own favorite
DreamTrips: anything Disney. As a family,
theyve been to Orlandos Disney World several
times and Anaheims Disneyland just to mix
things up a bit. The California trip also afforded
the younger Gooches their first airplane flights.
Jonathan most closely credits his success to
the Core Value #7 that inspires individuals to
champion their full potential. I believe we are all
placed here on Earth with the ability to impact
the world. We just have to understand our gifts
God has given us. It is my goal to help people
find and use that gift. In our company, we have
a culture that cannot be duplicated. We have to
express that culture in everything we do.
Kim Eaton, a blessed and brilliant woman who
passed away in 2008 at the age of 48, stood for
so many things that are good in this world and
upheld at WorldVentures.
Kims zest for life was evident in everything
she did. I am so honored to have been chosen
to receive this award. We do not take it lightly.
We will carry Kims torch for the rest of our
lives, Jonathan says on behalf of himself
and his wife. He thanks Kim Eaton and
WorldVentures. We thank Jonathan and Kwinn,
and congratulate them once again.

TROY BROWN AND JEFF BOLF, TRIPLE IMDS, UNITED STATES

VISIONARIES

17

DREAMERS:

always searching for a life beyond the given,

scraping for time and energy, all too familiar with
exhaustive evenings, the drone of fluorescents and
the eternal return of the same lackluster day. Its been
nearly a decade since Troy Brown and Jeff Bolf dared
to dream about life beyond the prosthetic experience
of living on borrowed time. The years have been kind
to these two who risked it all to align with the vision
of their mentor, Wayne Nugent, fulfilled their promise
and reinvented themselves. This year marks the tenth
anniversary of WorldVentures. The company wouldnt
be where it is today without the accomplishments of
two lifelong friends who got in on the ground floor
of what quickly became one of the most trusted and
renowned direct sales companies in the world. When
you conjure a dream, you identify a need. Troy and
Jeff dreamed, responding to a deficiency of time and
purpose, and embraced a vision that would change
their perspective, the outlook of their friends and
family and ultimately their place in the world.

THIS IS NOT FOR

THE CHOSEN
FEW. ITS FOR
THE FEW WHO
CHOOSE.
18

19

Take a good, hard look at Troy and Jeff: salt

of the Earth; born and bred in the Southwest,
where homespun values create a culture of
self-sacrificea pragmatic, dawn-to-dusk
mindset ubiquitous in every American small
town. These are tough-minded, standup guys
conditioned to break their backs to support
a family that relies on their fortitude and
commitment. For years, Troy and Jeff fell into
what the world expected of themday in, day
out quietly dreaming of a life that invoked
their promise. Today, they are goliaths of
the industry and have earned a new lease on
lifereplete with financial abundance, ample
time to spend with their families, a whatyou-see-is-what-you-get attitude, and the
recognition of being the most successful team
in WorldVentures history, and our very first
Triple IMDs.
When Wayne introduced us to WorldVentures,
I knew it was our ticket out, Jeff says. When
we saw this, my wife and I sat on a dirt road

20

one night for three hours and laid out a vision

for our family. I promised her if shed let us
run, shed have the lifestyle wed dreamed of.
Our wives held the home and families together.
It took us 13 months to go IMD the first time.
Back in those days we would leave in the dark
and get home in the dark. We paid the price,
and sacrificed a season of our lives.
We were willing to give up a season, and today
our lives are different, Troy contributes. We
were here when WorldVentures started and
we stayed for the people. Not long after that,
something dramatic happened for my family.
We got a call about adopting a baby, and made a
decision not based on time or money. We made
a choice based on what we wanted from life.

put down roots, and where Jeffs values were
forged. When he left for college, Jeff took his
upbringing and good nature with him, traits
that his classmate Troy revered because they
mirrored his own. From that time forward,
these two undergraduates established an
unbreakable bonda partnership that exists to
this day.
Troy was a leaders leader, Jeff says. He was
the best athlete Id ever seen in person and
we hit it off and hung out. We always kept in
contact, and as time went by the relationship
grew stronger. Most partnerships dont work,
but with ours theres never been an issuewe
play to each others strengths.

AN UNBREAKABLE BOND
What drives someone to strive for excellence?
What amplifies their intensity and inspires
them to outperform expectations over and over
again? For Jeff, the answer resides in a town

When I met Jeff we just had that bond, Troy

adds. Jeff is the life of the party. Theres never
a dull moment with him. We always stayed in
contact. It was a natural fit.

Early on, however, their paths diverged, and what

they learned along the waythe disparity of hope
and time so many in the professional trenches
experiencehad a lasting impact on their
character and initiated a discussion about how
the world worked, what it could be and where
they wanted to take ita plan of action they
would return to and refine over the next decade.
I thought I would get a job immediately after
I graduated, Jeff says, but six months into it
I was working construction. There were times
when I got off work and we just didnt have any
money, and Id be down at the creek trying to
catch fish for us to eat that night. It was tough.
Theres many a night that if I didnt catch fish,
we were back to eating Ramen noodles. I was in
the insurance business for about 15 years when
Troy and I saw WorldVentures. I was in a pretty
bad spot: Bill collectors were relentless, my dad
was going through Stage IV cancer at the time
and our house was going through foreclosure. I
needed something.

When I got out of school, I was introduced

to direct sales, Troy says, reflecting on his
years before he deepened his relationship
with his family and expanded his awareness.
I was probably the worst distributor in the
history of the industry. I had no success. But
I was a sponge and a good student. I was
teachable and coachable. About that time I
went back to school and got another degree
in anesthesiology.
Troy admits that while he found success in
anesthesia, over the course of a decade his
career exposed a significant shortcominghe
was time broke. He procured a paycheck, but
missed out on years with his family, and was
looking for a way to get back to those who
mattered most. Jeff also was searching for
more than life had offered him and his family
thus far. Time went by, as it doesrelentlessly.
Together, Troy and Jeff delved deeper,
exploring their hearts and minds, pursuing an
enterprise that would fulfill their aspirations.

Together they met someone with profound

insightan innovator with a vision for the
futureand together they took a leap of faith.
Youve got to come to this business with a lot
of faith, if youre going to do things the right
way, Troy confirms. Because in the beginning,
youre going to be overworked and underpaid.
They teach you to trade time for dollars in
school. We teach you how to take a season of
your life and build on faith to become over paid
and underworked.

VISION AND CO-CREATION

When you meet someone who gets you, who
understands your worth and potential, and who
pushes you to greater levels of self-awareness
while asking for your energy and commitment
to become who you are meant to beconsider
yourself lucky, because your life is about
to change. When Troy and Jeff met Wayne
Nugent, they met a mentor who believed in
them, and who lifted them to see where he was

21

22

headed and what their life could become if they

chose to embrace his vision and co-create a
future together.
Wayne is the most charismatic, outgoing
guy I have ever met, Jeff says. I knew there
was something special about him. He was
a true leaders leader. I knew I wanted to
follow him. Some of those early years, I used
to hate Mondays so much, I would try to stay
up as late as I could on Sundays. When we
met Wayne, that flicker of flame came back
for me. He was passionate and I was ready to
follow him.
Wayne had what I wanted out of life,
Troy adds. Through Wayne we learned to
lead in other ways. We learned to act daily.
Leadership is in your everyday actions. People
are not going to do what you say, theyre
going to do what you do. Wayne is who he is
and youll get nothing else.
Waynes guidance established an ethos that
reordered how Troy and Jeff understood the
world and themselves. Their issues with time
and money dropped away, and they were
able to prioritize their family, and to receive
each day without worry or obligation, at once
fulfilled and open to unique experiences with
new friends.
Weve been great friends with Dave and
Yvette Ulloa from the beginning, Troy says.
Weve been blessed to surround ourselves
by great peopleByron Schrag, Dave Watson
and, of course, Marc Accetta. Youre going to
be like who youre around. Weve surrounded
ourselves with the best of the best.

PICK YOUR SEASON

Who you are determines how you see the
world and shapes your very place in it.
You create your destiny by building your
perspective, and your perspective builds your
dreams. When Troy and Jeff dreamed, they
put forth a request and were willing to pay
the price. When youre willing to do both,
make room for abundance, because what you
project, you get back.

I didnt want to die with potential inside,

Jeff says. If you never perform, you never
know how good you can be. Things changed
dramatically for uswe didnt have to worry
about time or money anymore. We were really
starting to live full time. We were able to do
whatever we wanted whenever we wanted.
Were often asked how many times were
going to hit IMD. I want to help others to live
the lifestyle we lead. We just got back from our
107th vacation. I want that for our entire group.
Were pretty insignificant to the growth of
our business right now, Troy says. But I
believe were still significant to the growth of
WorldVentures. We have a responsibility to
be here. It would be pretty selfish as leaders
to say we got ours, go get yours. We love the
company. We just want to see a lot of people
win. Thats our goal. When Im on my death
bed, Im not going to ask for my diploma, or to
see the cars Ive bought. What matters now are
the relationships weve built; thats what this
business is about. Jeff and his family are my
family, as are all the people weve met whove
become more than friends.
If, like Troy and Jeff, you choose to look at the
big picture through the lens of your history,
youll see your resolve, your strength, your
accomplishments and setbacks. Fast or slow,
youre constantly evolving, and what you do and
how you receive and understand whats given
to you becomes an extension of who you are.
Dream as big or as little as you want: You are
empowered, and will make your way in the world,
if you have the heart for it and are willing to act.
This is not for the chosen few, Troy says. Its
for the few who choose. Its about who wants to
really get after it. Look across the board; IMDs
have nothing in common except one thing:
a burning desire to do something different.
Almost everyone I meet has the will to win. But
many dont have the will to take action. And
this things about action. Take action and youll
get your life back ten-fold. Go lead right now.
Do something. Get good at something worth
getting good at. Pick your season.

BY BROOKLYNNE PETERS

arc Accetta is a believer

in every sense of the
word. He believes in the
tens of thousands of WorldVentures
Representatives hes trained over
the years. He believes in himself. He
believes in the power of faith and
following your intuition. He even has
the word belief inscribed on his
cars license plate.
And sometimes, when the answers
werent all completely clear, belief
was all Marc had.
Its not where you start, Marc says.
Its where you finish.
Marc has spoken these words
at countless training sessions
and meetings. Theyre often
his immediate response when
asked about his personal and
business philosophy. They speak
to his dedication to the ideas of
perseverance, faith, and above all,
patience. They are hard-earned words
that never carried more truth than
when applied to Marcs own life.
Marcs journey has been one with an
inauspicious start and an unlikely
trajectory. People who have seen him
speak to and empower thousands
upon thousands would hardly guess
that he started out as a shy kid
from a hamlet in rural New Jersey
where there were as many cows
as there were people. He refers to
it as a Norman Rockwell-esque
upbringing, idyllic and wholesome. He
had incredible parents and supportive
surroundings, but he didnt have
very high expectations for his life. He
lived inside his comfort zone, getting
average grades, taking the path of
least resistance and settling for
whatever life handed him.
But one day, Marc stumbled into a
direct sales training seminar that
would forever alter the way he
thought, acted and lived. Things were
about to change in a big way.
If you think the way youve always
thought, youll do the same things
youve always done and youll get the
results youve always had, Marc says.

That was me. So I changed how I

thought. I changed what I did, and
I changed what I got.
Almost against his will, Marc
attended the training seminar
because he needed to earn extra
income. Little did he know he
would get that and so much more.
He admits he anticipated that
the training would not be worth
his time and the money he paid
to attend. However, despite his
dismal expectations, the seminar
changed the way he saw the world.
He realized how little he knew
in the grand scheme of things
about life, about the business,
about leadership, about personal
development and about himself.
That realization led him to make
the steps that would eventually
turn him into the leader he is today.
It took him off the path of least
resistance, and put him on the
road less traveled.
Training is where Marcs journey
took a turn for the best, and
training is where Marc starts
with each of his recruits. In his
mind, its about so much more
than networking. Its about the
power of teamwork, the power of
training, the power of believing
in something bigger than oneself.
He claims that most people are
born to win and programmed to
lose. Society teaches us to not see
our best self, to have a negative
personal image. That causes us
to lose our dreams and our selfesteem. But through training,
Marc learned, and teaches, that he
is good enough, that everyone is
good enough, if we just believe.
He places a heavy emphasis
on the aspects of training that
transformed his perspective
leadership training and personal
development training. His belief
in effective training stems from
the metamorphosis it caused in
him, taking him from the quiet,
shy guy from the country to the
progressive, proactive, passionate
person who demands the best

27

out of life. He attributes all of his success

not to the fact that he was so different from
everyone else, but to the fact that he was so
well trained. Hes taken that training with him,
and the ripples of success fan out around him
everywhere he goes.
Marcs life, following that seminar, has never
been the same. His career has been marked
by success. He spent the next decade honing
his craft, traveling the country, teaching and
training. At the same time, he worked as a
representative, putting his training to use. He
participated in four direct sales companies and
achieved a Top 10 income earner spot in all
four companies. Life was good and things were
looking up.
That was when he met Mike Azcue. Mike was
heading up a new direct sales travel company,
and wanted to bring Marc on to develop a
training program. Marc was wary at best, and
incredulous at worst. He was the No. 1 income
earner at his company. He had tens of thousands
of people on his team. He loved what he was
doing and who he was doing it for. He had no
reason to believe he should drop everything to
work for a brand-new startup company that was
just barely a few months old. And yet, despite all
of the logic and evidence to the contrary, Marcs
intuition was telling him to do just that. His
intuition hadnt let him down yet, and it wasnt
about to start.
A 90-day consulting contract with
WorldVentures turned into the journey of a
lifetime. Marc joined WorldVentures as the
Director of Training when the company was
four months old. He was hired to train its
Representatives, but he also ended up training
up the company from its infancy into the
worldwide brand it is today.
I fell in love with the company, Marc says.
I couldnt go back. My intuition told me
WorldVentures was different, and Ive always
followed my intuition. It ended up being the
best decision Ive ever made.
One Big Team. Thats the banner idea that
Marc has led the company under for the past
nine years. Every training, every seminar,
every lesson ties back to the core belief that
were all doing this together. Its the idea
of selflessness and dedication to helping
others that continues to propel Marc, and
WorldVentures, forward.
The idea of belonging to a collective, being a
part of a family of sorts, is something that Marc

28

thinks resonates with everyone he trains,

and its what sets WorldVentures training
program apart from every other direct sales
company. Most companies dont do their
own training events. They leave it up to
their top representatives to train people,
creating what Marc thinks is one of the
biggest problems in the industry. Because
if you happen to be on a team with a great
leader or trainer, youre in good shape. If
youre not, youre not. Marc compares it
to learning to play piano. You can own the
most expensive Steinway piano, but without
a proficient teacher to show you how to play
it, its worthless to you.
To be great, you have to practice for years
and years, he says. You dont become
Elton John by playing for two weeks. It takes
a long time to become a master at anything.
And if I have a great teacher, then my odds
of becoming good go up dramatically.
WorldVentures operates as a true team by
offering an incredible training program
that equips its Representatives with the
information, the skills and the knowledge
they need to be successful. WorldVentures
hosts several training events per year, but
thats not all. International Marketing
Directors will fly to different countries, to
different downlines, and pour their hearts
and souls into that market, teaching them
everything they know, all for free. Its
unheard of in the industry, but its what sets
WorldVentures apart. The entire leadership

team is willing to train people for the

greater good, for the sake of the team.
People want to be part of a real
championship team, a part of something
magical and special, Marc says. I think
we all realize this is special, and its bigger
than all of us. I think were all just thankful
to contribute a verse. It feels good to write
one verse in maybe the greatest book the
industry will ever know.
Marc borrows words from Walt Whitman
to explain how it feels to do something
meaningful with ones life. He explains
that while most leaders at WorldVentures
could be incredibly successful on their
own, they forfeit individual glory to bring
support to the team. Theyre thankful to
play a part in what they consider to be
one of the greatest stories of our time.
Whitmans poem O Me! O Life! goes on
to say:
O me, O life of the questions of these
recurring Answer: That you are here
That the powerful play goes on, and you
may contribute a verse.
The powerful play goes on in Marcs life,
and he is sure to contribute many verses.
Marc uses the dramatic power of storytelling
in his training, through plays and analogies.
He coined the term Edu-tainment, which
meets at the cross-section of entertainment
and education. By using humor, drama,

29

30

People want to be part of a real championship team, a part

of something magical and special. I think we all realize this is
special, and its bigger than all of us. I think were all just

costumes and sports, Marc drives home the message that learning
can be fun. In fact, many Representatives choose to attend Marcs
training because they get so much out of the training, and have
such a good time while doing it.
Were not sugar coating it, Marc says. Were giving you the real,
bottom-line hardcore facts. But were doing it in a fun way.
These trainings are an opportunity for Marc to pass on the lifealtering secrets that changed his path, and continue to change the
paths of others. He takes his motivation from seeing how people
use the information he has shared to change their lives, and in
many cases, changing the future of their family tree.
So whats next for Marc? He ended 2014 with more than 212,000
miles traveled and 28 countries visited. While some may see that as
a grueling schedule, Marc sees it as an awesome opportunity.
To me, Marc says, the more places I can go, the more people I can
see and meet and pour myself into, the more fun it is. Im probably
one of those guys youre going to have to drag off stage, because
why would I stop?
Marcs living out his purpose, traveling the world, and meeting the
people who have implemented his training to change their lives
one event at a time. And he wouldnt have it any other way.

ROOTS
A BUSINESS MODEL AHEAD OF ITS TIME
BY LIEF VON REDDING

ts not every century that a new

business model arises, but the
20th century saw just that.

A model so bold, so ingenious

and so simple, it had to be seen in
action to be believed.
By 2014, visionary entrepreneurs
would leverage this innovative
approach to create a global industry
to liberate people from the captivity
of dead-end employment and
minimum-wage work.
Popularly known as direct
sales, this new iteration would
eventually transform an array of
industries, including wellness,
home-goods, utilities and travel.

THE FIRST DIRECT

SALES MARKETERS

As a business phenomenon,
direct sales seems to have
sprouted unbidden from the
fertile soil of the American

34

economy. However, the seed was

rooted deep in colonial culture
with the Yankee peddler and
stretching back to the nomadic
peddlers of medieval Europe.
These resourceful entrepreneurs
were often minorities who
traveled from town to town,
offering everything from tin
cookware and machine repair to
medicinal remedies and exotic
trinkets. Rather than set up a
stationary shop, their business
was built on seeking out the
needs of individualsfarmers,
townspeople, other travelers
and moving on once the need
was filledthus pioneering the
concept of selling directly to
the consumer.

THE VISION AND

DETERMINATION TO
CREATE A LEGACY

What may have begun as a novel

approach has now become a

global economic force, spreading

a message of entrepreneurship
and self-improvement. Today,
worldwide there are more than 90
million independent sales people
who sell nearly $154 billion of
goods and services annually.1
Enter two men, Wayne Nugent
and Mike Azcue. You know them
as WorldVentures co-founders.
Although both men had built
remarkable success in other direct
sales companies, including those
with a focus on travel, they felt
something was missing from the
leadership. Instead of using the
incredible power of direct sales to
transform peoples lives and provide
a better travel experience, many
executives were focused on shortterm gains and less-than-upright
business principles.
Mike and Wayne started
WorldVentures in December
2005 with a vision to create more

fun, freedom and fulfillment

in peoples lives through the
merging of great life experiences,
financial opportunity, personal
development and contribution.
Since then, the company has
grown to more than $300 million
in revenue and operates in 28
markets. It is the worlds largest
direct seller of curated group travel,
with Independent Representatives
across the globe.
This success is drawn from a set of
10 Core Values that pervade every
aspect of the company.
Given the history of direct sales,
WorldVentures Core Values are
more than feel-good statements
of intent; theyre a battle plan
designed to change the way the
world sees direct sales, as well as
the company and Representatives
who make their living expanding
WorldVentures mission.

TRANSPARENCY,
SUSTAINABILITY
AND TRUST

Three pillars hold up the body

of WorldVentures Core Values:
transparency, sustainability and
trust; take away any of these
and the others become weak
and unstable.
To cultivate trust, you must
first practice transparent
communication. Transparent
communication can be painful,
but it is the only way to embrace
accountability and learn from
mistakes. Over the years, many
direct-selling companies have run
afoul of consumers and regulators
by attempting to hide their
mistakes behind a wall of positive
spin. In the end, their business
practices were unsustainable and
ended in collapse.
Thus, sustainability represents
the other pillar. Each decision

WorldVentures makes must pass

the test of sustainability: Can
we execute this initiative with
excellence on an ongoing basis?
and Will this decision cause us
to sacrifice any of the people or
values that we support?

THE TRUST COUNCIL

Setting the standard for

excellence, Mike, Wayne and
the rest of the WorldVentures
leadership team created the
Trust Council, an accountability
panel made up of WorldVentures
executive leaders, corporate
employees, Representatives and
independent observers. This
highly specialized team is part
of a larger effort that includes
developing a relationship with
Stephen M. R. Covey, a globally
recognized expert on trust.
Ultimately, the Trust Council
monitors the companys
adherence to the Core Values, as

well as advocates decisions that

will continue to uphold these
values for years to come.

WHATS NEXT?

In the early days of direct sales,

the industry was pushed forward
by many types of people, some
enthusiastic and misguided
visionaries; others were highly
motivated, dedicated entrepreneurs
who passionately shared a rare
opportunity with the world.
In life, identity is comprised of
mistakes as well as successes.
Mistakes are an opportunity
to learn, and success is an
opportunity to celebrate. By
leveraging both, we are better able
to grow and face new challenges.
On WorldVentures journey to
becoming the most trusted name
in direct selling, the Trust Council
provides an opportunity to
acknowledge and learn from the

ups as well as the downs.

You can bet that Wayne Nugent
and Mike Azcue are doing
everything they can to ensure
trust and transparency are
integral to every part of our
business. WorldVentures Reps
are held to a higher standard and
are responsible for honoring the
origins of the company and the
vision of our founders. In the
spirit of the Trust Council and
the leaders who built the very
foundation of this business, you
should endeavor to make every
travel experience genuine, every
testimonial trustworthy and
every interaction with prospects
and team members transparent.
Our business depends upon your
openness and accountability, as
much as it does on your action
and leadership. We depend on
who you are and how you act, at
every moment. Be a mentor and
role model for your team. Lead
the way.

Personal
Journeys

TALES OF
FAITH,
FREEDOM &
TRIUMPH

BY CHRISTINA MLYNSKI

ong Kong American martial artist, actor,

philosopher and filmmaker Bruce Lee
once said, Ever since I was a child I have had
this instinctive urge for expansion and growth.
To me, the function and duty of a quality human
being is the sincere and honest development of
ones potential.
While most consider Bruce Lee to be one of
the most influential martial artists of all time,
he was also the ultimate master of personal
development. He constantly pushed his mind,
body and spirit to new levels by setting an
example of what it means to be your best. While
seeking truth through knowledge, making the
most of every situation and applying previous
life lessons to future decisions, Bruce Lee
reinvented himself.
Bruce Lees drive to constantly better himself led
to a huge upgrade to his career. And even though
most of us arent martial artists, we can still apply
his fundamental philosophy of being the best
you to your own professional path. Within the
structure of WorldVentures, there are countless
Representatives who began at the starting line
before earning a gold medal at the top of the
podium of success.
For International Marketing Director Julio Acosta,
growing up in a lower income area of Brooklyn,
New York, allowed him to realize that making an
impact on others starts within yourself.
This year Im trying to give back as much as I
can, he says. As WorldVentures Representatives,
we always promote how much we make, what we
own and how big our organizations are. But I want
to do something on another level, something that
will outlive me. I want to build a legacy.

Other Representatives have personally grown by

realizing what priorities in their life needed more
time and effort. National Marketing Directors
Brittany and Travis Just found their true purpose
after losing nearly everything.
We took a sheet of paper and we drew a line
down the middle, Travis says. On the left
side we put all the things in our life that we, as
hardworking, noble people, had, like the house,
cars and clothes. And on the right side it was all
about our bucket list. When we got to the bottom
of the page, we realized nothing we wanted on
that list had anything to do with stuff we already
owned. It was all about making time to change.
In the tradition of WorldVentures executives,
the primary goal to live fun, freedom and
fulfillment is the core value that resonates
with every WorldVentures Rep. International
Marketing Director Dave Watson realized that
if he wanted to turn his passion into financial
freedom, he needed to change his biggest
obstaclehimself.
I knew that if I wanted something different,
I would need to do something different.
WorldVentures has given me the freedom to
do whatever I want. But more than that, Im
at a place in my life where I can give as much
as I want.
As a WorldVentures Rep, its not about following
in someone elses footsteps or fitting into
a cookie-cutter mold, but unleashing the
greatest version of your true self. Once you
have obtained the skills to personally grow and
develop your vision, you will be well on your
way on one of the greatest journeys youve ever
experiencedyour life.

here has long been a belief that what sets

extraordinary people apart from the average
Joe is innate and natural talent.

They were born to be brilliant; Bill Gates

genius is in his DNA, Albert Einstein had an
inventive mind since birth, and Jack Welch
somehow was gifted with the knowledge of
running GE.
While some of that may be true, what really sets
so many successful, extraordinary people apart
are their routines, and repeating those routines
no matter the situation.
Disciplining yourself to follow what are actually
pretty simple routines is vital to success; and
believe it or not, many of the most successful
leaders in business and the arts follow similar
routines, or at least, share the same ideas of what
successful routines are.
We interviewed several writers and entrepreneurs
who have studied just what kinds of routines
extraordinary people do, and their answers are
very illuminating.
Madeleine Dore is the Australia-based founder of
the website extraordinaryroutines.com. Dore, a
journalist and editor, has interviewed more than
a dozen creative and business leaders about what
kinds of things make up their regular routine, and
shes seen a few patterns.
There are a few commonalities that keep
popping up, Dore says. I think automated
approaches to food and exercise is a big one.
When you are busy, its important to remain
healthy and what Ive found is that people
develop a routine around food so it becomes
one less thing to think about.
A famous example of this is found in the
routine of current U.S. President Barack
Obama, who said in an interview in Vanity
Fair magazine in 2012 that he only wears a
certain color suit.
Youll see I wear only gray or blue suits, Obama
told the magazine. Im trying to pare down
decisions. I dont want to make decisions about
what Im eating or wearing. Because I have too
many other decisions to make.

Dore says that with food, Im discovering that

people will have the same breakfast and lunch
each day, and usually do a lot of the preparation
for the week on a Sunday. If you know you have
the same smoothie for breakfast or lunch, you
just pack the ingredients, its ready to roll, and
you know youre getting the nutrients you need
without even thinking about it.
Another common theme in extraordinary
peoples routines is exercise. Almost all of us
overestimate how much time well have to
exercise in a certain week, (Sure, Ill go to the
gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday) only to see
meetings and appointments and class recitals for
our kids get in the way.
But exercise is vital toward clearing the mind and
keeping your energy up, Dore says. It doesnt
have to mean an hour at the gym each day; just
find what works for you.
Writer and entrepreneur Bill Murphy, Jr. has also
studied the ordinary routines of extraordinary
people, interviewing a number of artists, business
leaders and creators. Last year he penned an
article laying out 17 things extraordinary people
do every day.
Among Murphys more intriguing suggestions?
One is Ask for Help, as he argues that Nobody
does anything worthwhile alone, and asking
for help, when done correctly, isnt a sign of
weaknessits a sign of respect. People enjoy
being reminded that their knowledge and skills
have value to others.
Another tip that Murphy offers is to give
yourself a break. We are all only human, and
success doesnt come overnight. Dont get
frustrated when things arent happening as
quickly as youd like, while still holding yourself
to high standards.
Murphy and Dore also advocate keeping a
journal, as so many creative and business
leaders do. It doesnt have to be flowery
writing or go on for pages at a time, but
simply creating a marker of what you did
that today, what you hope to accomplish
tomorrow, and what your hopes and fears
are at that particular moment is an excellent
routine to get into.

Another major factor in the success of

extraordinary people is that routinely they do
and say things to build their confidence.
There is no one in history with a perfect batting
average, or who hits every meeting or proposal
out of the park. So make sure that self-belief is
something you practice regularly. You dont have
to go all Stuart Smalley of Saturday Night Live,
and repeat Im good enough, Im smart enough,
and gosh darn it, people like me! to the mirror
all the time.
But it is important to constantly talk to others
who have supported you and can give you
positive feedback, and also think back and
examine past successes; doing that routinely
ought to give you some confidence.
In the end, what is the most important routine, the
one that will ensure your success? Actually, its to
keep assessing and reflecting on your routines.
Some people regard having a routine as dull, but
what is powerful about rituals and habits is that
if something isnt working or making you happy,
you can spot it and make adjustments, Dore
concludes. Are you spending enough time with
friends and family? Do you want to work more on
your creative pursuits? Could you trade in those
Sunday sleep-ins and take on a new project?
Just incorporating a daily or weekly check-in
to see how youre doing means the days wont
disappear without a trace.
Daily goals, starting small, can be a major
building block. Maybe set aside 20 minutes each
day to simply think about the things that are
stopping you from ultimate success, and make
a list of ways to achieve them. Or give yourself a
half-hour of mind-clearing time, where you can
simply unplug from the phone and computer and
allow your mind to simply be.
Remember, it takes about two or three weeks
for habits to become routines, so dont get
discouraged if you forget to practice one of your
new routines in the beginning.
The more important thing to remember is that
extraordinary people are in many ways just like
the rest of us, but their discipline and attention to
routine allows them to flourish in all ways.

HOW TO GET

BETTER at
ANYTHING
PUSHING YOURSELF TO PEAK PERFORMANCE
BY MICHAEL J. LEWIS
veryone wants to get better. Even those
rare beings who are at the top of their
professions, like basketballs LeBron
James, the Oracle of Omaha Warren Buffett
and the Google guys, Sergey Brin and Larry Page,
constantly strive to improve themselves.

Hour Rule, saying that for a person to truly

master any skill, he or she must practice it for
10,000 hours. One of the major examples he
cites are The Beatles, who toiled in anonymity
in Germany, performing in front of small crowds,
before they mastered their sound.

For the rest of us, those not gifted with

incredible athletic ability or gee-wiz business
sense, pushing yourself to being the best you
can be is a constant struggle.

Now, obviously doing anything for 10,000 hours

sounds like a Herculean task for most of us; who
has that much time to practice something?

Peak performance is not something you achieve

once; its only attained over a long period of
work, constantly doing a self-assessment and
striving to achieve your goals.
So how can you reach peak performance and get
better at anything?
Well, the first rule that most know from
childhood is simple: Practice, practice,
practice. To become truly great at something,
you need constant repetition and dedication.
The best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell
argued in his book Outliers for the 10,000

40

But just practicing your business skills for a

few hours a week could go a long way toward
improving your performance. Make a list of your
weaknesses and commit to working on them
during that time; the smartest, most successful
people turn their weaknesses into strengths,
and theres no reason we all cant do that. If
you have difficulty communicating with people,
practice that with friends. If time management
is a deficiency, constantly focus on staying on
time and on message.
Besides practice, another way to achieve peak
performance is to develop a schedule and stick
to it. Be as rigid as you have to be; discipline is

key. Find a routine that works for you, and pay

attention to when your mind and body are at
their most fresh and most creative. For some
people, its first thing in the morning; for others,
its late in the day.
Whenever the peak time is for you, use those
hours to work on the most creative and
thought-provoking tasks of your job. Doing
the most important aspects of your job when
youre at your peak should definitely lead to you
reaching your peak performance.
Other experts in peak performance suggest
paying strict attention to your sleep
patterns, and making sure you get enough;
understanding which frustrating aspects of
your business are worth getting upset over, and
which you need to let just roll of your back;
and finally, constantly re-evaluating your
goals; its what LeBron and Warren do; its
what you should do as well.
We dont all have the same peak, but we all
certainly can reach our own peak performance
with a little work.

When you are capable of empathizing with

a prospect, you grant them the respect and
honor due to every human being. By listening
to their stories and acknowledging the pain,
failure and joys unique to each human life,
you become more than a WorldVentures
Representative, you become a confidanta
person worthy of trust.

TOO BLESSED TO BE DISTRESSED

BY FELICIA FULLER
and its acceptance. But if you
believe as she does, then you
know the chain can be broken
through prayer, obedience
and faith.

ERICA DEBATO
Director
United States

ithin family circles,

sometimes there
emerges a pattern of
negativityshared attitudes,
behaviors and experiences as
common as eye color or a cleft
chin among kin. Some people
blame bad luck or genes, but in
the faith community, such a cycle
is called a generational curse.
Its a term shrouded in mystery,
which simply means spiritual
forces cause the same misfortunes
to befall multiple members of the
same family across generations.
In Erica DeBatos bloodline, that
generational pattern is mediocrity

44

I am motivated by the
opportunity to break the
generational curse of my familys
lineage, Erica says sincerely.
Everyone in my family is living
from paycheck to paycheck, and
the cycle ends with me.
Erica is among the legions of
Generation Y Echo Boomers
who are leveraging their youth,
diversity and creativity to blaze
new paths in direct sales with
WorldVentures. And much like
her fellow Millennials, Erica
is bold in her approach and
unabashed by barriers. A little
less than a year ago, she was
a senior at Prairie View A&M
University with ambitions to
graduate, pursue a masters
degree and build her online
boutique. To bankroll her dreams,
she worked nights as a waitress
all while juggling a full course

load. Then a new opportunity

came knocking.
My best friend called me one
day excited about something she
claimed was H-U-G-E. That was
10 months ago, she recalls. Now
life looks different.
Not everyone was on board
with Ericas new venture, but
determined to change the course
of her family historyshe turned
a deaf ear to her dissenters.
At the age of 25, my dreams had
all but been stripped away from
me because I was told that they
werent realistic, she shares.
I then began to wonder if the
same had happened to my parents
and their parents, and if the
same would happen to my
children. I stepped out on faith
as a Rep so that dreamers like
me could follow.
Upon graduating from Prairie
View in May with a Bachelors
in business marketing, her
WorldVentures time investment

went from 10 hours a week to

full time. Today, Erica says she
is evolving into the woman God
designed her to be and is enjoying
the journey. I have found the
most beautiful and supportive
people who uplift me and we
all share the same dream, she
gushes. That, in itself, is like a
daily DreamTrip for me.
She counts among her biggest
accomplishments enrolling more
than 250 people at her alma
mater in under two months, and
re-building her organization twice
after members disbanded.
That aside, she says her shining
achievement is that she did
not quit. I have faced more
adversaries and strife on my
journey with WorldVentures than
in the life that preceded it. I didnt
know how strong I was until I had
to be, she explains. I established
a drive and fire that nobody
can extinguish or undermine.
I will never quit, and thats an
accomplishment most human
beings will never achieve.

or most people, job security

and the loss of income is a
common fear. For Hannah
Townsend, it was a common
occurrence. Born with a rare liver
disease, Hannah received an organ
transplant at 15 years old. Health
issues meant semi-frequent
hospital stays. Hannah would
recover, only to be released and
find that her job wasnt waiting
for her to return. Her condition
meant that she would need to
find an alternative to the fastpaced, always-on-call corporate
environment. While pursuing a
cosmetology license and working
full time, her brother, already

Three years later, Hannah is able

to earn an income and focus on
her health. She no longer feels as
if lifes most important decisions
are dictated by the limits of
time and money. Through her
WorldVentures business, Hannah
doesnt have to worry about her
job security. On top of that, she has
the luxury of working alongside
her family. Following her brothers
lead, Hannah achieved status as
Marketing Director. Her parents,
who have always worked as
entrepreneurs, are also Marketing
Directors. Even Hannahs 84-yearold grandmother is involved in
the business. Most importantly,
WorldVentures gives Hannah the
opportunity to build a business
with her new husband, Ryan
Rosenfelder. In fact, Hannah
Townsend became Mrs. Ryan
Rosenfelder in May 2014 on the
four-Diamond Marival DreamTrip
with more than 60 of her and
Ryans closest friends and family
in attendance.

Both Ryan and Hannah work their

WorldVentures business part time.
This allows them to focus full time
on Hannahs health while reaching
their business goals and easing
financial burdens for other family
members. Even with a multitude
of health problems and planning a
wedding, they were able to reach
their goal of Marketing Director,
and they intend to reach higher
goals still, aiming for Million Dollar
Earners and Triple International
Marketing Directors. Not only do
Hannah and Ryan use the system,
they use it with their real life
experiences. Posting the You
Should Be Here sign in photos on
social media, these newlyweds have
been on more trips in the last 24
months than either of them had
taken in last 24 years combined.
They promote DreamTrips using
their own wedding video.
Hannah credits all of their success
to a relationship with God and
their balance of priorities, keeping
God first, family second and
WorldVentures third. To keep their
business moving forward, the

two stay in close contact with

their leaders, they promote their
team and they live by a strong
belief of speaking their dreams
into existence. For Hannah,
WorldVentures is a long-term
plan. If you truly want to be
successful, use the system and be
here five years from now. Dont
let the reason why you started
WorldVentures become the reason
why you dont build it.
Together, Hannah and Ryan
are showing others the kind
of life you can lead through
WorldVenturesa life free
from the constraints of health
concerns, financial burdens or
even the limits of how far your
education can take you. Being
able to focus on her health and
work with her family has given
Hannah Townsend many peak life
experiences she wouldnt have
been able to experience if she had
stayed on the traditional job route.
WorldVentures has given Hannah
and her new husband a reason to
dream bigger than we ever could
have imagined.

where she worked two jobs. A
cousin and her husband, a retired
state trooper from Little Rock,
Arkansas, eventually adopted
both boys.
His adopted father was a needed
and appreciated influence in
his life.
He encouraged me to join the
U.S. Navy, to travel the world. He
wanted me to do something great

with my life; to go out and be

significant, Fleming says.
If you aint the lead dog, the
view will never change, his dad
often told him; words Fleming
lives by everyday.
Back in 2012, the loss of his loved
ones was overwhelming. Fleming
was losing his grip. At his worst,
he recalled his fathers words:
If you hang around four broke
people, you will be the fifth. If
you hang around four alcoholics,
you will be the fifth. What do you
think will happen if you hang
around four successful, driven
and motivated people?
Now, two and a half years later,
Fleming works full time for
WorldVentures. He hopes,
within the next year, to reach
the ranks of Regional and
National Marketing Director.
Discussing his team, Fleming
says, Culture is huge when it
comes to building something
strong and sustainable. We treat
each other like family.

Joining the company has had a

significant impact on his life. I am
a different person. WorldVentures
saved my life and I owe it to the
founders and leaders to share my
story with others and what it has
done for me.
Reminded of his birth mothers
constant financial burden, Fleming
now lives a very different life. His
commitment to WordVentures has
offered many rewards, including
financial freedom and stability.
But more importantly, he feels
fortunate to be able to spend
quality time with his girls, Aubrey,
8, and Savannah, 6.
I can be the father I never had
growing up as a young boy,
Fleming says referring to his
birth father.
My biggest achievement with
WorldVentures would be hitting
the rank of Marketing Director;
my biggest achievement in life
would be achieving the rank of
stay-at-home dad. Thank you,
WorldVentures.

KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY

BY COURTNEY ROUSH
another item to their full plates,
the Catoes saw in WorldVentures
the potential to bring peace to the
chaos of their busy lives.

JASON AND MELANIE CATOE

Directors
United States

efore Director Jason Catoe

and his wife, Melanie, of
Greenville, South Carolina,
started their WorldVentures
business in March 2014, they
were no strangers to hard work.
Jason has worked seven days a
week for the last 12 years, juggling
a maintenance job at Furman
University, a vinyl graphics business
with Melanie, and part-time
carpentry work. Melanie opened her
own preschool and day care facility
seven years ago. And theyre raising
three children: 18, 14 and 3. So
why did they add a WorldVentures
business on top of it? While it might
sound counterproductive to add

We wanted to spend more time

with our family, Jason says. You
talk to so many people who cant
do things with their kids because
of their jobs. You dont realize how
much you miss over the years.
Moneys important, but having the
ability to take off at the spur of the
moment and see your kids that
time freedom is everything.
After he was introduced to
WorldVentures by a friend at
Furman, Jason encouraged Melanie
to watch an informational video.
And, finally, she didduring
naptime at her school. I figured
that if all WorldVentures did was
give us one more vacation a year, it
would be worth it, she says.
In fact, WorldVentures has given the
Catoes nine additional vacations
this year alone, including their first
DreamTrip, a cruise to the Bahamas.
Their 3-year-old, Hudson, came

with them. When he stepped on

that beach for the first time, his
face just lit up, Jason recalls.
But the vacations are only the icing
on the cake. This business has
changed the course of our familys
life, Melanie says. Together,
the couple has 17 direct-line
Representatives and an extended
team of more than 200. The couple
works their business part time,
but consistently. Weve made it a
family affair, Melanie adds.
How does this duo keep their team
members motivated? We tell them
to stay around the campfire, Jason
says. There will always be peaks
and valleys in this business. Just
dont quit. Whether it takes two
months, two years or more, youll
get there. Jason and Melanie hold
regular Social Proof meetings in
Greenville, where WorldVentures
Representatives at every step of the
journey can compare notes, share
pointers and support one another.
Aside from the obvious financial
benefits, the impact WorldVentures

has had on the Catoes reaches

deep. Weve experienced so much
personal growth and development
through this company. Weve
become well-rounded, Melanie
says. Were still learning this
business, but I hope were inspiring
and helping others. Ive always
loved encouraging people, lifting
them up, helping them achieve
their goals. WorldVentures is the
most positive thing in our lives.
The couple credits God first and
foremost for their success.
Ask them what their long-term
goals are for their WorldVentures
business, and theyre quick to tell
you: Theyre planning to become
International Marketing Directors.
After that, well be lying on the
beach somewhere, Jason says. I
want to spend less time working
and more time enjoying life with
my family.
Melanie couldnt agree more.
Theres so much more to life than
going to work. Were not at the end
of this journey yet, but we can
see it.

Soaring to Success
How will your dreams take flight?

FROM BODYBUILDER TO LIFE BUILDER

BY MELISSA GATCHEL-NORTH
day offsparked a deep desire to
work for himself.

LAMAR STANTON
Marketing Director
United States

amar Stanton has a mantra:

Never let anybody steal your
dreams. Growing up in the
projects in Massillion, Ohio, Lamar
admits, I was always looking for
more. I used to see people driving
better cars and living in nicer
neighborhoods and I wanted to be
on the other side of the tracks. I
just didnt know how to get there.
In his pursuit, Lamar tried a
number of things. He built
motorcycles for an Ohio
dealership. When the economy
took a nose dive and jobs dried
up in Massillion, he drove a truck
long distance until he landed a
factory job at Central State Cans,
working alongside his mom and
dad, aunt and cousin. But 14
years on the assembly lineoften
working 30 or 40 days without a

48

As a successful bodybuilder
who won the title of Mr. Natural
Olympus and was featured in
the pages of Natural Physique
magazine, Lamar decided to
expand his love for physical fitness
and went to school to become a
massage therapist and personal
trainer. While he did well in the
spring and summer months, his
affluent clients headed to Florida
and Arizona to escape the cold
Ohio winters. Lamar had to go back
to making pickups and deliveries
for a local trucking company.
When Lamars mom told
him about an upcoming
WorldVentures presentation
at their church, he decided to
attend. Just 20 months after
that April evening, Lamar is
a Marketing Director and has
more than 500 people on his
team. It has been a life-changing
experience that has quickly
surpassed his expectations.
I was so fed up with telling my
kids that I couldnt afford things,
Lamar says. My original goal
was to make enough money so I
wouldnt have to sell my house and

could do the small things my kids

wanted to do. But WorldVentures
has actually changed my
perspective on whats important
in life. Its not about who dies
with the most toys or money like
I used to think growing up. Its
really about how many people can
you help in life. How many people
can you lift up. Watching my
teammates grow and seeing
how their lives have changed, to
me thats probably the biggest
thing to mehelping change
peoples lives.
Lamar spends about six hours a
week reaching out to others
inviting them to travel parties
or to two-on-one presentations
if they wont come to a large
meeting. I tell them it was worth
my time and Im sure its going to
be worth yours.
He doesnt use slide shows;
he tells his personal story and
then pushes play on Vacation
Sooner. All of his prospects
receive two CDs Lamar finds very
inspiring#55 with Michael Jex
and #56 James Lee. I love the
James Lee CD because he tells
people exactly what to say when
the what if question comes
up, and Michael Jex is all about

passion and the will to win.

Most of all, though, Lamar just
speaks from his heart.
My success with WorldVentures
is strictly related to faith. Ive
done other businesses before and
they werent successful because
I didnt include God, and I didnt
seek what he wanted me to do. I
just did what I wanted to do.
Lamar knows his faith will
help him reach his next goals:
devoting himself full time to
WorldVentures in the very near
future, becoming a Regional
Marketing Director and showing
his two teenage sons the world.
My dream has always been to
be able to afford to take my boys
overseas. I want to show them
Athens and London, Rome and the
Great Wall of China, says Lamar.
With spring break right around
the corner, the family is planning
their first trip together out of the
United Statessomewhere warm
and tropical, Cancun or Riviera
Maya. Its a milestone Lamar is
looking forward to because of
what it represents: You should
always go for your dreams.
Thats exactly what Lamar is doing
every day with WorldVentures.

FLYING WITHOUT WINGS:

BY FELICIA FULLER

Air Force Couple, Davon and Cristina Hill,

Soar Higher with WorldVentures

WorldVentures is the perfect

vehicle for us to attain
those goals.

DAVON AND CRISTINA HILL

Directors
United States

or 15 years, he has been

among Americas eyes
in the sky as an active
duty member of the U.S. Air
Force. But after nearly two
decades defending the nation
against aerial and cyber
assault, WorldVentures Director
Davon Hill is embarking on a
new mission.
My wife and I are both in the
Air Force and we understand
our military pay is not going to
suffice for the lifestyle we have
in mind, he confides. Although
we both volunteered to serve our
country, Ive always wanted to
be my own boss. We knew that
to have the ability to live the life
weve always wanted, it would
only come to fruition by making
a residual passive income.

Davon was introduced to

WorldVentures by a former
military comrade, Paulo Manzo,
whom he served with in South
Korea about 12 years ago. The
men lost touch following their
tour, but Davon says he is
eternally grateful that Paulo
thought enough of him to share
the WorldVentures vision.
When I joined the military,
I assumed I would have to
work another job after I served
my 20-year commitment,
but this opportunity has
changed that, he expresses. I
will be able to retire from my
military career and focus on my
passion instead.
WorldVentures also will help
Davon and Cristina provide
their three teenage sons with
the financial education that was
conspicuously absent from their
own school curricula. I hope
our children see that we have
passion in what we do, Davon
says. We dont want them
to settle into society and live
mediocre lives. We want them

to pursue what they enjoy as

well as see that life can be lived
differently than what they are
accustomed to.
The couple currently work the
business part time and plan to
go full time in about two years
when Davon retires from the
Air Force. Their short-term goal
is to generate enough residual
income to become debt-free.
In the long term, they hope to
create a lifestyle of financial and
time freedom.
It is great to build a business
together as a married couple,
especially one that you actually
love doing, Davon shares.
Cristina plays more of a
logistical role whereas I focus
on the presentation and
team building.
Their system for growing
their business is based on
simplicity and duplication of
proven strategies. They set up
appointments with prospects
in their homes or at social
venues like coffee shops and
restaurants. To augment their
presentations and provide
third-party validation, they also
invite fellow WorldVentures

Representatives who share

their personal stories.
We understand that we
cannot be prophets in our
own land, Davon muses,
so it has definitely helped
to have examples of other
peoples success.
Prospects are provided
with the Just Push Play
DVDs, directed to the
www.vacationsooner.com
presentation and encouraged
to attend live presentations.
Davon and Cristina also keep
copies of the Living Proof
and Voyager magazines on
hand as supplementary
recruitment tools.
Its easy to sign up, but
the real magic starts when
WorldVentures gets into you,
Davon says, adding thats where
training comes in. As our team
has grown, we make it a priority
to keep everyone on the
same page.
In military terms, training is
the direct sellers battle plan,
and with their plan clearly
defined, the Hills are fulfilling
their mission to fly, fight
and win.

FROM AIR FORCE SERGEANT TO WORLDVENTURES DIRECTOR

BY MICHAEL J. LEWIS

MARDIE WILSON
Director
United States

ardie Wilson didnt have

the easiest childhood,
which is why he wants
so badly to give his kids all that
he can.
Mardie grew up in Macon,
Georgia, and tragically lost his
father when he was 8. Mardies
mom gave the family everything
they needed, he recalls, and he
vowed to do the same for his kids.
And now, thanks to his involvement
with WorldVentures over the
past 18 months, he has.

Currently a Technical
Sergeant/E-6 in the United
States Air Force and stationed
in Hawaii, Mardie has risen
to the level of Director
at WorldVentures, and in
November he got to fulfill
a dream of pretty much all
American families: He took
his wife and four kids to Walt
Disney World.

Air Force Base in Honolulu,

they quickly became enraptured
with WorldVentures business
model and opportunities for
exciting travel.

It was the first time in 13

years that my family went on
a vacation together, Mardie
says with pride. My kids will
not remember what they got for
Christmas this year, but they
will definitely remember our
trip to Disney World for a
long time.

To build his business, Mardie

says he keeps it simple and
sticks to the fundamentals.
That includes the four-step
invite, exposing through Just
Push Play, presenting live
and having a third-party expert
to validate.

Going with his loved ones to

meet Mickey Mouse is just
one of the joys of joining
WorldVentures, Mardie says.
First becoming involved in July
2013 when he and wife Christy
went to a travel party at Hickam

Keep it simple and stick to

the fundamentals.
50

We saw a presentation from

Melanie Levitz and immediately
wanted to become business
owners in such a fun and familyoriented company, Mardie says.

I value the relationships I build

the most, Mardie says. Ive
always been taught that people
want to know how much you
care and not how much
you know.
With the Air Force and
WorldVentures both demanding
a lot of his time, it would
be easy for Mardie to lose
motivation. But he said his
strategy to stay focused and

energized involves an acronym

of the word WHY.
What Hurts You or What
Happened to You in the past or
from day to day that motivates
you to be great? Mardie asks.
Whether its your boss, or
waking up to an alarm clock, or
having to work 60 hours a week
to make ends meet. Whatever
that motivation is for you, use it
to succeed.
Mardies best advice to those
interested in starting themselves
is to be coachable, have
desire and toughness and earn
credibility with everyone you
meet. Its also imperative not to
burn bridges with anyone.
As Mardie looks to build his
business and rise higher at
WorldVentures, hes begun to set
his sights high.
My goal initially was to take
my family on vacation, but
now its about inspiring
millions of people around the
world and helping everyone
live a life of more fun, freedom
and fulfillment.

Fun, Freedom & Fulfillment

A DREAM-BIG COMMUNITY
BY MICHAEL J. LEWIS
These are affordable houses
for single-household families
with green space, area schools
nearby and close to (public)
transportation, Donna says
proudly. I smile and nod every
time I drive past the area.

DONNA AND PAUL SCALES

Senior Representatives
United States

enior Reps Donna and

Paul Scales of Bowie,
Maryland, arent
interested in little victories
and small accomplishments.
The married couple has
always wanted to dream
big, and before joining
WorldVentures last May,
accomplished a lasting legacy
that will outlive them.
In 2007-08, the Scales built
a housing subdivision in
southeast Washington, D.C.,
using one city block to build
five brand-new houses to
achieve what they call a
forever-changed geography
of our nations capital.

Donna and Paul have long

strived to make a difference in
their community, and are doing
just that with their experiences
in WorldVentures.
Since Donnas childhood friend
Andre Johnson introduced
the couple to the business
last May, they have embraced
WorldVentures and all that
comes with the lifestyle.
Donna and Paul have gone on
two DreamTrips already, and
Paul said hes looking forward to
many more as he aims to make
WorldVentures his full-time
occupation in 2015.
Since first hearing about
WorldVentures, its made me
want to go out and help others,
Paul says. This is a great way to
give people freedom where they
dont have to have a boss and

work 30-40 years of their life.

All they have to do is believe
in themselves.
Team-building exercises are a
major part of the couples success.
Donnas first order of business
was making sure her personal
enrollees had a place to bring
their prospects, and that after
that every Rep had a place to bring
future prospects as well.
I am a strong believer in
Teamwork makes the Dream
Work, and Theres no I in Team,
Donna says.
Donna also stresses that in
recruiting theyve used the
Just Push Play approach, and
participated in webinars with
Regional Marketing Directors
Randy and Wanda Webb, and
International Marketing Director
Eric Grzybowski.
Pauls specialty involves speaking
with prospects on residual
income, car bonuses and tax
shelters, and he feels that living
rich for him involves personal
freedom and allowing others to
enjoy early retirement.

You have to believe in the

company and set goals, and
we wholeheartedly believe in
WorldVentures, Paul says. I try
to motivate others by giving pep
talks and encouraging them to
believe in themselves and their
abilities to market the product.
Donna said she received a lot
of advice when starting with
WorldVentures, but the most
vital words to her were, Its
perfectly fine to take a risk if you
can live with the outcome.
Both Donna and Paul have
big goals in their WorldVentures
future, hoping to rise to
International Marketing
Directors and acquire
100,000 Representatives.
And growing their business
together is a labor of love and a
source of motivation always.
My husband has been
my biggest cheerleader in
everything Ive done over
the past 22 years (14 of those
married). I never want to let him
down, and thats enough to keep
me going.

During the period October 2011 to September 2012, 19.82% of all Independent Representatives (IRs) earned a commission or
override, while 80.18% did not. The average annual commission or override earnings of all IRs, including those who did not earn
a commission or override, was $190.15. The average annual commission or override earnings of that group of IRs who earned a
commission or override was $957.12, and the median was $40.00. The data presented in the table above is based only on those
IRs who earned a commission or override within the time period of October 2011 to September 2012.
Notes:
1. All amounts are represented in U.S. dollars.
2. These figures do not represent Representatives profits, nor do they consider expenses incurred by Representatives in the promotion of their business.
3. Promotion levels represented in the table are based on ranks achieved at the end of the year.
4. An Independent Representative is one whose Independent Representative agreement was accepted by WorldVentures within the 12-month period preceding the last day of
the fiscal year displayed.
5. An active Representative is one:
a. whose Independent Representative Agreement is in good standing and who has made a sale of a WorldVentures product within the 12-month period preceding the last
day of the fiscal year displayed; or
b. who has earned a commission or override with WorldVentures within the 12-month period preceding the last day of the fiscal year displayed.
6. Figures are for the U.S. market after five full years of operation. Figures may not reflect incomes in newly or less-established WorldVentures markets.
There are no guarantees regarding income. The success or failure of each Independent Representative in WorldVentures, like any other business, depends
on the Independent Representatives own skill, dedication, personal effort and leadership qualities.
