What defines a Smartphone?
Smartphone
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities, often with PC-like

functionality (PC-mobile handset convergence). There is no industry standard definition of a
smartphone. For some, a smartphone is a phone that runs complete operating system
software providing a standardised interface and platform for application developers. For
others, a smartphone is simply a phone with advanced features like e-mail, Internet and e-
book reader capabilities, and/or a built-in full keyboard or external USB keyboard and VGA
connector. In other words, it is a miniature computer that has phone capability.”

- The iPhone/iPod touch is the fastest growing piece of hardware the world has ever seen.
- And usage share versus market share of the iPhone is incredible, meaning it will only grow.
- Facebook is becoming the multimedia repository, and it will allow you to do so much.
- Companies (in our case Education) absolutely need to be on board with the mobile web. They
have some time, but they need to act.
- Location-based services are the “secret sauce” of what makes the mobile web interesting.
