PERIODICAL DATABASES
Use to search for magazine, journal, & newspaper articles. Some articles are available
full-text or full-image. Access through the Henry Whittemore Library Home Page. Under,
“Books, Journals, Articles”, click on “A – Z List of Databases,” then click on the database title
or database publisher you want. You will be prompted for a username and password if you are
off the campus network. Enter your Blackboard username and password.
FIRSTSEARCH
FirstSearch provides online access to 3 databases. Some databases provide partial access to
full-text articles. These are marked with an asterisk ( * ). Useful databases include:

WorldCat (World Catalog – lists electronic resources, including Internet sites, as well as
print sources: books, etc., by name and subject; also lists periodical locations worldwide)

List of guides by subject. Access through the Henry Whittemore Library Home Page. Under,
“Books, Journals, Articles,” click on “e-resources by subject.” Select “Food and Nutrition” -
for dietetics, nutrition, nutrition education, quantity foods, & food services systems sites. Select
“Food Science” - for Food Science & Technology sites.
