EFFORTS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE SCHOOL FOR THE MAKING OF

NATIONAL UNITY AND INTEGRATION

The school also plays a big part in the success of the role of unity and national
integration. This occurs because the school is fundamental to the formation of the
human person may practice the unity and national integration. There are various
efforts by the school to promote national unity and integration. Here are the efforts
carried out in schools to promote unity and national integration.

The first is a collaborative undertaking royang in school. Cooperative activities in

schools will lead to unity and national integration for students and teachers together
will help clean the school compound. At the same time they will interact with each
other and recognize friends not known. This situation has indirectly create unity and
national integration among teachers and students in school.

The second is to create an exchange program students. Student exchange programs

between schools will bring unity and national integration because students will know
and understand students from different schools. For example, students of Sekolah
Jenis Kebangsaan encouraged to mingle with students from the National School
through a program organized by the school for a certain period of time. This will
enable students to have the opportunity to interact with students from different
schools and thus creating unity among them.

Third is to apply the principles Pillars of students in school. School exercise book
should have a National Principles so that students can read it with pleasure. The
school must ensure that students can memorize the principles of Pillars. For
example, students are required to recite the principles of Pillars in the weekly school
assembly. With this, they will learn the principles contained in the National Principles.
This will make the students mutual respect and understanding of one another's
culture and life of goodwill. This situation is directly planted elements of unity and

national integration in students through the National Principles are memorized and
practiced by them.

The fourth is that schools can promote unity among students by launching
campaigns, lectures, seminars and motivational camps focused national unity and
integration. Through this launch, students will be exposed to the importance of unity
in our country consisting of people of various races and ethnicities. For example,
students are encouraged to participate in motivational camps organized in order to
learn and understand the concept of solidarity to be expressed by the school.
Through motivational camps, students will know the importance of unity and national
integration to the state and thus will practice it.

The fifth is to give students use the facilities at the school regardless of the position
and the different student. Facilities such as resource centers should be given to
students regardless of their ethnic background. All students should be given
permission to use the resource center. This will show that unity and national
integration was fostered by not discriminating against students by race for the
resource center.

The sixth is the school can provide various ethnic festivals such as Hari Raya,
Chinese New Year, Deepavali and others in the school. In this way, each student can
learn the customs and beliefs of the races in Malaysia. This will engender respect
among students of other races than can foster understanding between students of
different races. Misunderstandings and disagreements between groups is inevitable
because the students have to understand the culture of other races. This situation
has demonstrated the unity and national integration in the students' own culture in
which they were aware of the races in Malaysia.

Esei 2
In the face of globalization and lead the third world, we wish to reiterate and reinforce
the strength of unity in Malaysia to avoid riots. Thus, variation races must move thus
like bamboos with banks as a synergy led to the vision 2020. According to the sixth
prime minister said, familiarity racial composition is the most potent antidote to stoke
racial familiarity saying goes' round round sewer water as a human because
consensus '. In addition, the synergy of all parties to work together to make efforts to
be proactive and effective in realizing the aspirations of the people throughout
Malaysia. The question is, what efforts can be undertaken to strengthen racial unity
in Malaysia?
In the face of modernization, efficient business must be addressed in order to form a
unity in our country. Keraajaan parties have a role in the realization of unity. The
government's efforts to hold Open House to celebrate the national level major races
in Malaysia are most welcome. According to our Prime Minister, One Malaysia
concept can be achieved through such a ceremony. While governments hold open
house, our universal state comprises of various races provide high commitment.
Mengitimkan they present themselves and their relationship with society with
different races and backgrounds. Interaction between the races in this event will
strengthen the ties between the communities in Malaysia. Finally, the progress of our
country depends on unity as the saying goes 'united we stand, divided we fall'.
Unity is also fostered through community activities that require each nation to take
part in any activities. The way to foster cooperation and mutual help each other by
eliminating selfishness embedded in the soul of today's society. However, the
negative attitude of society, especially people who live in the city which only work
irregular hours and do their own work led efforts to foster unity difficult to implement.
Activities should strengthen ties of friendship forged such cooperative activities that
require the contribution of each party to ensure the success of these activities in
order to maximize unity can be born. In short, social activities can be the best
platform for fostering a sense of unity that should exist in every society in line with
the country's desire to create a cohesive society regardless of race or religion.

In line with the context of the trial, by organizing a Family Day program, the goodwill
between different races in Malaysia can be fueled. Agenda program aims to create
the intimacy and curb discrimination. Simultaneously, through this family day
program, many communities are present can communicate and exchange ideas and
opinions with regard to certain issues. For example, schools across the country can
also melibaatkan specializing in Family Day. In addition, the government can also
hold a special celebration for government employees. It is clear that the efforts in
forming unity in Malysia can be realized with a family day program that has the
potential to strengthen the relationships between people in our country.
Along with that, the education system is a communication path shortcut to realize
this. The introduction of a similar education system by the Ministry of Education has
established a unity ma. In addition, the school's vision that puts the three types of
schools that national schools, national-type Chinese schools and Tamil national type
schools also accelerate the process of national unity. For example, group activities
carried out can strengthen race relations at the school level. In addition, the use of
language that is the official language of Malaysia as the medium of our country in
national schools also allows multiple people to interact with each other like the
slogan language of the soul of the nation. Izhar, indeed we can not deny that our
country's education system as a catalyst in the process of strengthening relations
with other races.
In the eyes of others, the implementation of cultural values and heritage is also one
langkahh in reaching the goals and expectations of our leaders in achieving unity.
Negara Malaysia's multiracial namely Malay, Chinese and Indian. People can apply
their folk culture of the nutritional aspects, application, and civilizations and share
with other races. For example, more and more non-Malay women wearing the
traditional Malay dress for ceremonies and lectures. Indian food like bread rolled and
tose also increasingly in demand by other people. Therefore, the inclusion of cultural
values and heritage of this multiracial can generate respect each other and further
strengthen the unity of the country.
If this issue exhaustively detailed, the government has made it mandatory for
adolescents aged 17 years and above to participate in the National Service Training
Program (NSTP). NS statehood module course aims to create unity in the bosom of

a society of youth are the future leaders of the country. In accordance with state
module, multi-ethnic youth the opportunity to collaborate like bamboos with cliffs and
so on unity can be nurtured through activities undertaken in the NS group. Indeed,
there is no denying that the NS also played a dominant role in shaping commitment
to unity.
As intiha, we can conclude that the security and prosperity of a country must depend
on unity in Malaysia. Various parties should move thus, unanimous in passionate
commitment to achieve harmony and national unity as the saying goes round
because of sewer water, round man because consensus. Solidarity is a very
important mission to Malaysia to move towards the establishment of the nation state
and become a country that can stand tall, sat together with developed countries.
People are the most valuable state assets in the construction of a multi-ethnic state
in the vision Wawasam 2020.

EDUCATION SYSTEM IN MALAYSIA AND THE UNITY

1.0 CONCEPT OF COMMUNITY IN MALAYSIA

According to the Dictionary of the Board, the community is a group of people who
live together in a place with rules and specific way. Culture does not exist without the
presence of members of the public who masyarakat.Manusia is responsible for
creating, modifying, up and preserve the culture, down from generation to generation
for millions of years of human civilization worldwide. Generation process that lowers
the legacy of a culture and a culture that accepts cultural generation. We need to
understand the concept of society as to survival, there is no choice but to live in a
society. Understanding how to live in a society with its own culture and understand
other people and foster cooperation within the community and others.

Because people need to understand the concept more clearly and understand that
human survival no other choice but to live in a community. People must understand
the best possible way of life. Understanding the culture of the community and other
communities continue to foster collaboration within the community and with other
communities. Knowing the features and characteristics of the community because
the community is something dynamic.

Craving nation based on harmonious ethnic relations can be measured based on

three main perspectives of nationhood, citizenship and nationality. This spirit needs
to be cultivated and developed in people in order to ensure the integrity of the state
as a social group can be planted through the symbols of the unity of the country such
as Malaysia flag, national anthem and Pillars of Malaysia.

Citizenship of the Malays, Chinese, Indians and others can be consolidated with the
same nationality as the citizens of Malaysia. Nationality can be highlighted through a
national culture that is driving the flare and strengthen the national spirit. This is the
cornerstone in the establishment of a Malaysian nation.
The relationship between these three aspects are reciprocal because each mutual
support and reinforce each other. Culture is a whole way of life. Important in the
process of nation building in Malaysia where personality Malaysia must be nurtured
in the ongoing efforts towards improving the socio-economic and political
development. Requires the mobilization and involvement of all levels of society in a
continuous process.

National culture is important for a developing country and with a population of multiracial Malaysia. This policy will be a guideline in designing, creating and maintaining
a national identity among the international world. Role in producing the interaction
process, introduction, absorption and adoption of the various elements that
correspond to the region's basic cultural elements of various world cultures.

Economic System Dual / economic dualism. The development of modern economic

system and the traditional economy is not balanced. English School education
system, school Malay, Chinese and Tamil schools. Good race relations in the context
of "mixed but are not unified" .The system is established based on the uniformity of
the national education curriculum, syllabus and orientation based on the 1956 report
Razak and Rahman Talib Report.

The main goal of uniting children of various ethnic groups under a national education
system by using a single language (Wan Hashim, 1983). Education Act 1957 to
agree on the principle of multi-stream schools and teaching in their native language
allowed. Bahasa Melayu has been recognized as a national language, the Chinese
and Tamil schools must teach Bahasa Melayu as one of the subjects approach in
subjects as history, geography and other textbooks must terraced Malaysia and not
based in China and India (John Lowe, 1960).

2.0 EDUCATION FOUNDATION OF UNITY IN MALAYSIA

Malaysia is famous for its harmonious multi-ethnic population that lives in peace and
harmony. People who are in Malaysia is Malay, Chinese, Indian and other ethnic 27.
In areas of Sabah and Sarawak. Diversity in Malaysia this very unit under the
government and administration as well as policies that unite all people in this country
for continued stability. Therefore, various government policies have been and will be
carried out in the mission country.

Unity is a process that unites members of the public and the nation as a whole
through the ideology of the country in which every member of society can form a
common identity and shared values and a shared sense of nationhood among them.
Unity plays an important role in driving stability and progress of the country. Since,
before and after independence, the government has fostered a spirit of unity in our
country prosper. Various policies have been implemented to achieve the unity
process. Without unity, the country's progress to be achieved for 2020 will probably
not be true because cooperation is needed to generate progress and maintain the
existing unity.

3.0 EVOLUTION OF UNITY AND EDUCATION IN MALAYSIA

In forming the national unity government has been carrying out the policy of unity
that Malaysians make this policy as their holdings in achieving solidarity and
harmony. Cohesion policy can be achieved through two methods:

1. Basic Education: National Education Philosophy

2. National Language Act: Article 152 of the Constitution of the Federation of Malaya
3. National Cultural Policy

4. Sport as a Tool of Unity

At the time of the British advance, our education system based on British education
policy in the 19th century. This system is only done in the Straits (Malacca, Penang
and Singapore). Our country formerly tied to education conducted by the British
colonialists who are concerned for their own education. In those days, the British
gave priority to the Malay and English lessons. Education to be given to the Malays
were given low government positions either as a clerk or teacher. Chinese and Tamil
education is left to develop on its own. Education is recognized as a vernacular
education.

Government education policies that govern important in shaping racial unity in our
country. Started by Barnes Reports when the British colonial rule until the FPN
conducted now. Here is a chronology of government education policies since the
first, namely the initial stages, the British government has introduced Barnes Reports
in 1950 before the country is to achieve its independence. The aim is to be selfgoverning Malaya with applicable national unity. Furthermore, strong opposition
communists at that time led the British feared races in the country will be affected by
the communists and cause chaos. The big question facing leaders and educators
after the Second World War is to find a formula to produce a united Malaysian
society, ie a society that has the determination, ability and readiness to live together
in harmony and peace and consciousness, personality and values as Malaysians.
One important way to create unity in a country is through education.

National Education system has undergone significant evolution in line with the
country's development and ability. Evolution education has been through the
following five phases, namely Pramerdeka Ages (before 1957), The PostIndependence (1957-1970), the New Economic Policy Period (1971-1990), the
National Development Policy Period (1991-2000) and the Age of the NVP (2001-till
now).

Pre-Independence era (before 1957), the current British administration, schools in

Malaya was divided into four streams of English School, School of Malay, Chinese
and Tamil schools School. Each school has its own language and curriculum sender
different from each other. However, by independence arising awareness to create a
school system. Several committees have been formed to study the school system at
that time and produce Razak Report (1956), which laid the foundation for the
development of the education system to foster unity through the National Education
System for all. Bahasa Melayu as the medium of instruction as well as the national
curriculum, syllabus and examination system is the same for all schools.

In 1979, a review of the implementation of education policies by the Cabinet

Committee to Review the Implementation of the Education Policy (1979) which
outlines the proposed new approaches and strategies to strengthen the education
system. In the 1980s, educational opportunities for citizens also enhanced by adding
physical facilities and infrastructure, especially in rural areas. Next FPN was enacted
in 1988 to strengthen the direction and goals of national education. This philosophy
emphasizes a comprehensive and integrated education for students with a balanced
form of physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual.

4.0 ETHNIC RELATIONS IN MALAYSIA

Malaysia has managed to get out of the group of backward countries to developing
countries and is now heading towards developed nation status. (Ambition, vision
2020). Malaysia has been through various events that affect the bitter ethnic
relations since the colonial period until after independence. Events May 13, 1969
From bitter experience, gained important lesson is that economic progress alone is
not complete if not accompanied by political stability. Political stability alone is not
sufficient without balanced economic development. Economic development and
political stability necessary to smooth and balanced so as not significant
shortcomings that lead to conflict.

Racial balance involving equitable distribution of economic rewards and powersharing government maturity. The question is whether the factors that can bring
balance and what are the things that need to be retained or preserved to ensure a
balance on an ongoing basis. The answer is a continuous effort to foster and
maintain harmonious ethnic relations. Events May 13, 1969, which resulted in a
bloody riot Chinese and Malay in Kuala Lumpur. Started before 1969 when Lee Kuan
Yew introduced the slogan 'Malaya Malayan' before exiting the Federation of
Malaysia in 1965. Party Movement and DAP plays on racial issues during the preelection.

Teaching Bloody May 13, 1969. It racism is something very sensitive and very easily
so the dispute. All races shall be maintained and administered fairly. The
Government emphasizes the unity of its people. Understanding the Importance of
Ethnic Relations Malaysia is a multiracial country that had experienced ethnic
conflict. Ethnic relations is closely related to the social structure of society and
provide an understanding of the degree of social and cultural pluralism, the causes
of conflict and to what extent the character of colonial social structure.

Ethnic relations reflects the history and development of a country's socio-economic

capabilities. Ethnic relations reflects the degree and source of social tension in
society. Through ethnic relations can also be understood about prejudice and
discrimination in a country as well as a description of the role of personality factors in
determining the behavior of society. Ethnic relations are important in understanding
the impact of disesebuah An industrialization of the country. Ethnic relations
influence social policy and social planning of a country.

Efforts towards national unity was the establishment of the Department of National
Unity which is now known as the Department of National Unity and Integration /
EAP), Introduction Pillars with sowing National ideology, DEB, the National
Education Association, the National Cultural Policy. Government efforts (top down)

alone is not sufficient but must be rounded down to the business of the form (bottomup) through the collaboration and contribution of the private sector, the community
sector and all political parties. Harmonious ethnic relations in Malaysia do not rely
solely on good terms conditions between different social class groups (employees /
middle class / faction rich of various groups). Ethnic relations are an important
feature that shape the social system in Malaysia although the level of national unity
in our country is difficult to measure, but other countries see Malaysia as a country
that managed to create a harmonious Ethnic Relations coupled with the education
system and school concept information technology or ICT will boost the world of
learning and racial unity in Malaysia because all the information easily and quickly
obtained.

5.0 BENEFITS OF NATIONAL EDUCATION SYSTEM IN FOSTERING

RACIAL AND ETHNIC UNITY IN MALAYSIA
Everyone knows that there are two effects of the implementation of this system of
learning and teaching in the classroom. First the good it will attract students to
further explore existing knowledge. This is in contrast to the old system which is
more striking on textbooks alone. With this system, students can find their own
information that can sharpen their thinking, enhances knowledge and maintain the
principle of unity existing between the various ethnic groups in Malaysia through the
same education system.

As evidence of the smart school encourages the use of ICT in teaching. By doing so
the students can explore more information using the internet and other printed
materials. In explaining this, the Ministry of Education has provided complete
infrastructure and facilities to ensure the teaching and learning process went
smoothly. Progress fingertips internet is to make disciples of all races love getting
their information mainly involving communities in Malaysia as background, culture,
customs and religion with just surfing the internet and the same learning environment
in Malaysia.

For example Seri Bintang Utara school in Cheras were equipped with 470 computers
that can be used by the school for a time. This facilitates students to find information
without having to queue or wait for their turn to find information especially in those
who frequently use the break to go to school resource centers or extending the time
to relax and find information. All students, regardless of race can share information
and skills through ICT in the education system the same school. This situation can
foster unity among the people since early childhood.

Teaching and learning will become more attractive because students today are ready
and have good existing knowledge. This eases the task of teachers in conveying
information to the process of learning and teaching in schools. Learning to be more
student-centered and teacher serves as a facilitator alone. Learning system oriented
information technology to attract students to explore various new information.
Another good impression in the process of teaching and learning in the classroom is
a task which had terusun and systematically to find trainers in various materials and
to start teaching and learning. All information on the race, ethnicity and academic
retrieved easily at any time. With this multi-ethnic society will better understand the
cultures of other races to respect each other.

Student's readiness to start lessons at a good level will increase the motivation of
teachers to make teaching and learning goes smoothly. Compared with normal daily
school that the average student is not ready to begin the lesson and quite tough to
try to find the information you need to know before you begin. With this technique,
the teacher should run cooperative to facilitate students to discuss among
themselves about the topic. Teaching and learning process will be more organized
and attractive. All students will learn and master the learning process

the same regardless of race. This promotes unity continued to be practiced in

Malaysia from time to time.

In the education system as well as students are constantly exposed to various tasks.
Structured assignments given by the teacher will make students easy to focus in
teaching and learning process. This will make make students more independent and
complete various tasks simultaneously, regardless of race. They master the skills,
acquire knowledge and skills together while preparing an assignment. It is good for
the unity of the body level during their teenage school education process.

Structured management are emphasized in the teaching staff to ensure adequate

resources to ease and simplify the task of teachers in the teaching and learning
process. With this simple student will also receive inputs from teachers effectively.
Teachers also will always provide the best input during the process of teaching and
learning. This can make the process run smoothly. The next advantage to learning
systems today is that all students, regardless of race capable of learning according
to the needs, abilities and learning styles of each according to their different
kecedasan as evidenced by Howard Gardner which are mathematical intelligence
logik-, vebal- lingusistik, kinesthetic, visual spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal,
naturalist and existential.

Teacher education system in a systematic and orderly manner will reduce the burden
on teachers to design excellence program to their students apart from making
teachers more accountable for executing tasks better. Parents will be involved in
determining the learning program their children in schools or institutions of higher
learning. They will also help teachers who need assistance in carrying out the
activities in and outside the classroom and study tours. Such an education system
would promote a more efficient learners in Malaysia.

Teachers always adapt the national curriculum area with view to the needs and
abilities of students in line with the experience and existing knowledge of students.
Teaching methods in schools are usually more centered on the teacher and student.

This item encourage freedom of students to give their ideas or opinions. Students
have their own views and experiences they have been through this before.

This will boost the system of teaching and learning in school to all races as ideas
and abilities of all students in the school can be developed jointly. For example,
students already know how to operate a material or devices such as laptops. Many
students already know and gain exposure using a computer. This condition would be
nice teachers to teach them computer skills.

6.0 WEAKNESSES IN FOSTERING NATIONAL EDUCATION SYSTEM

RACIAL AND ETHNIC UNITY IN MALAYSIA
Whatever it is, we realize the real impact of the deterioration of the country's
education system is clear that the existence of the phenomenon of unemployment
among graduates due to not utilize the knowledge gained. The problem occurs
because the education system is constrained bureaucracy so difficult to change.
Clearly, the present education system, producing students who only know how to
answer questions but can not think. As a result, students are racing to tuition and
leave family and community activities. It will also hamper efforts to maintain unity in
our country.

The existing education system has wasted a lot of educational resources, thus not
effective in the formation of professional talents who are willing and able to face the
problems of globalization in the 21st century. The education system in our country
also concentrate (centralized) also cause distorted educational content dibawak
political factors. Many education policies determined not on the basis of education.
This would produce an unjust society such as school teachers lack the flow of
Chinese and Tamil. This will sever the link between people little by little that would
inhibit unity in Malaysia in the long run and can erode the customs and culture of an
ethnic origin in Malaysia in a piecemeal fashion.

There are also community and the administrative bureaucracy that considers
education as the primary standard examination of teaching and administrative
principals or headmasters disesebuah school. Function tests were misinterpreted
and teachers and school authorities blamed if their children are not doing well in
exams. This problem haunts almost all races and ethnicities in our country either at
national schools, Chinese schools or Tamil schools. Ministry of Education until now
still refuse to submit alternative assessment program following the abolition of
examination and more details concerning implementation raises concerns that the
new valuation method may be detrimental to the cultural patterns of language and
the language of instruction and administration in national-type Chinese and Tamil.

7.0 RECOMMENDATIONS FOSTERING UNITY IN RACE AND ETHNIC

Ministry of Education should also gather information and opinions of the people and
the community and announcing their alternative plan after it with a grain of
implementation and provides the ideal time to enable the various layers of the people
membicangkannya. With the adoption of these people will understand more clearly
the alternative program and will not be confused. Education is still the main objective
while the assessment system to its side.

Ministry of Education should also provide a schedule for implementing alternative

plans that allow people to make adequate preparations when implementing a new
program, especially the training of teachers and provision of courses throughout the
country. These reforms should be implemented gradually by the headmaster granted
autonomy to implement their respective schools.

Teachers also need to be more professional and smart to do what is directed by the
Ministry of Education. Programs and specific courses Postgraduate Teacher Training
Course (trains) at the Institute of Teacher Education (IPGM) should be reviewed to
avoid the coach chose this career because I had to because it was impossible to get
another job outside sana.Sikap no interest in becoming a teacher forces them to
become teachers hypocritical and this will necessarily derail the government's vision

and mission and worse will have a negative impact on students and the quality of
education for a long time.

Teachers who are less interested in this career may also have a strong racial
prejudice. The Ministry of Education and work should also provide a mechanism for
removal from the outset by transferring them to government agencies to maintain
and enhance the professionalism peguruan from being damaged by an individual
named teachers who were not interested and did not qualify as a teacher even if
they have a good track in assessments and examinations.

Based on the principles of social justice, national education information system is to

achieve a more just society, not exacerbate inequalities between people. Distribution
of educational resources should be more careful of educational opportunities for
children of secondary and primary schools, including the distribution of internal
resources such as how classroom organization and distribution of teachers. This
condition allows the existence of the spirit of learning regardless of race and abilities
of students.

National Education system should be in desertasikan. The government needs to put

the power of education, coordinating rigid bureaucratic system while reducing the
symptoms inequity in education. The Ministry of Education should not politicize
policy and respect the opinions of professional education.

For SJK Chinese and Tamil, referring to the principles of human rights education,
Ministry of Education should respect the intentions of the parent community ensure
that all policy changes will not alter the characteristics of the culture, the language of
instruction and the language of administration in SJK Chinese and Tamil.

Education and exams not only a problem between students and teachers or
headmasters and school performance, but also a community cultural issues. A

coalition of education reform consists of members of academic experts, educators,

parents and community members sit together to discuss issues of national education
and monitoring program implementation or repeal of an examination in the state
education system today to review and take into account the country's education
system before. Ministry of Education and all walks of life, especially education
establishments must propose the concept of the right to education. This is because
parents are the most influential group in the success or fail of an educational reform
implemented.

8.0 Conclusions
Education deeply affects human activities in all areas because it is an ongoing
process and help develop the innovative potential of the individual for the good and
progress of a country. Therefore, the mission of national education should increase
an individual's potential, develop skills, confidence and motivation to analyze and
physical, spiritual and mental dunamik individuals, initiative and provide benefits to
individuals and society.

In terms of social justice, of all individuals of various races and nations should be
given equal education opportunities for all citizens and not to a group that is
considered the elite only. Examination-oriented education is now solely at the
expense of the future most children in Malaysia regardless of race.

Step Strengthen Solidarity between Peoples Malaysia

September 15th, 2014
Each year ahead of Independence Day anniversary, Malaysians are familiar with the
theme of the succession. If the slogan is to be read and studied, it will bring a similar
message of the importance of multi-racial society, culture and religion in the country
to live united, mutual respect for each other and help each other as neighbors.

Strong and sturdy unity between people able to generate success and excellence for
the welfare and prosperity of the country. Therefore, unity and harmony is a very
important element in maintaining harmony among Malaysians. Without unity,
independence and sovereignty of the country would have been obtained for a long
time to be lost in the blink of an eye. The question is how we can strengthen racial
unity in this country?

As a first step in forming a unity, people must interact and foster mutual
understanding between people. In such cases, parents should always apply the
values of unity within children since childhood. As the saying goes, "let me bend of
bamboo shoots".

Children are encouraged to communicate with different neighboring nations and

parents are encouraged to bring their children to visit a neighbor's house during the

holiday or celebration. That way, parents can be a good example to children and
allows them to appreciate the benefits that society consists of different types of races
and ethnicities.

In addition, parents can also communicate with children in a variety of languages,

such as English, English and native languages. When young people master the
language, they can communicate with peers of different races easily. Anyway, the
values of solidarity and mutuality shall be disclosed to the younger generation early
on that soul unity in themselves can grow properly.

Next, educational institutions should be responsible to implement the spirit of unity

among students of different races. Among the measures that can be taken is to
provide work group. In this context, teachers should divide the students in groups in
implementing school projects, such as scientific research, presentations, and
celebrations ceremony at the school.

Teachers also must divide the students with perfect position to encourage students
to communicate with students of different races and one race each other instead. In
the process, the success of these initiatives, the teacher can not trigger sensitive
issues while teaching, for example by glorifying his own heritage and culture
mocking other people. In short, students and teachers must work together for the
show of solidarity at the school level.

In addition, the students should learn and appreciate the history of the country in
order to understand the meaning of national unity. As one of the steps to create a
consensus of the nation, the Ministry of Education has required students to pass the
subjects of history in Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) from the year 2013.

The move is expected to enlighten children about the race due to lack of unity
among the people. Know and understand the events that took place in the country's

history as a bloody tragedy May 13, 1969, of course, young people and youth will be
more appreciative of unity and harmony achieved so far. Malaysians understanding
of the history of the country can cultivate a spirit of unity within themselves.

At the same time, Malaysians should avoid any action that could provoke people.
While the people were given the right to freedom of expression, they should not take
the opportunity to trigger sensitive issues and controversies that may damage the
goodwill and solidarity.

The local community can also play a role in strengthening the unity of the country by
organizing social activities such as collaborative, Neighbourhood Watch Program,
and the National Month campaign to strengthen ties between various communities.
Activities such as this is able to ensure the well-being of local residents, with open
space and opportunities for communication between different ethnic neighbors.
