4.1.4. Import XML file format: This process is opposite with export, factory will downloaded the XML file
format from Cloud. This is usefully for factories who involve on tooling transfer process.
Download file from Cloud
2013
Data Fields above, Nike will create own schema and seasonally update into cloud, Chris Scheer will
seasonally responsible to update it through Cloud for new model with TD (Tech Difficulties) code
C above. (New tooling only)
Example: Name XML file that content information
of data fields above is:
nike_pcm_seasonal_model_toolcodes.xml
Note: In the future MMS data
source no longer using RFC
memo, but gradually replace with
this data in XML format
Seasonal PCM Model Tool Code
data will be posted in Cloud for
factory to download
Import xml file

2013
Nike Tool Code or in old day we called mold code, it had been frequently changed the format:
Type tool code with A-2-8 , 1234 (for outsole mold) and M1234 ( for midsole mold), this type of tool code we call
PPS FORMAT
Type tool code with MS12345 -1 (for midsole), OS1225-1(for outsole) and UP12345-1(for upper molded), it call
PCM FORMAT
Mold ID number will generate and stamp by factory who place order for their tooling manufacturing. This
number will permanently stamp in core (top plate) and outside mold (top plate).
The detail dimension explained image below: Stamp for NEW mold
Note: stamp could be milling, stamp/punch, as long as can stay for long last. It should be no problem.
2013
The Primary stamps on top plate on mold are: mold ID number, Tool Code, Gender, Size, mold Fabricator
and Mold Fabrication date
The Secondary stamps are all information that factory would like to add, such as: model name, factory tool
code, overlapping gender (M/W), etc.
2013
Note: Slight different configuration of design column should be find, as long as data is same content.
Note: factory allows to stamp own factory tool code and also to easier searching mold in ware house , factory
also stamp mold ID number on side front area of mold.
Q: How to stamp the existing mold?
A: Existing mold, the most important stamping Mold ID number on external (top plate), for mold existing
mold that running in production recommended to stamp at inside mold (top core) as well.
2013
Q: How if the part is too small or transparent like TPU plastic injection or Clear rubber?
A: If stamping caused cosmetic, bonding issue, it allow to stamp on small piece of part use smaller font and
probably only mold ID number and info necessary. Clear rubber can be stamp only in outside cavity.
Q: How about Flex IU midsole design with window? Does it able to stamp?
A: Probably not necessary stamp all information, but it is only necessary information , such as Size, mold ID
number, alphabet, and other information that possible to stamp in small area and not bothering bonding
margin.
2013
Entry data use Molded Component Name from Nike M-BOM, this name is always connected with Tool Code.
10
2013
Data dimension of mold can collect from mold shop (2D mold construction) or directly measure on physical
mold at production.

4.2.9. Data Fields no#.17, Mold Price
12
2013
Note: Cost of individual mold that entry into the mold Management data is from MOF, all are under dollar US.
4.2.10. Data Fields no#.18 & 19 Mold Part Minimum & Maximum Size
Regardless construction of the mold (single or dual layers), calculation cavity is only base on quantity of cavity
(in pair):
13
2013
Example:
Note: PU mold is never count in half pair in MMS ( it will confuse process of inventory and transfer)
14
2013
Note: if we have overlapping gender, stamp on the mold base on Gender initial DPA of this model
4.2.12. Data Fields no#.22. Last Code
Note: last code number is always initial last number; it is change only when foot bed contour changed.
4.2.13. Data Fields no#.23. Modular Mold Configuration
Note: Modular mold requirement have 2 different tool codes, but will only have one mold ID number. Both
tool codes will stamp in one location as image below:
15
2013
Modular invisible airbag is not part of modular construction, this type of construction is not requirement have
2 different tool code assignment.

For sure customer for this system are factory and Nike, but factory can optimizing or maximizing this
system for other benefits that supporting production execution that relate with tooling usage.
Note: the benefits of this project is not goes only for Nike, but the most important Factory is as owner
system in their factory, they can utilize and maximize the benefit of having this system.. Below are list of
benefits of the system that submitted from factory representatives.
An integrated mold management system, much convenient and efficient to check and share mold
information (VH)
Set up mold history record, overall manage life cycle of molds, ensure higher quality of parts(VH)
Support to tracking mold, analysis and make statistics report about existing molds (VH)
Make molds transfer among factories more simplified and efficient(VH)
Complete database of tooling in one system (FT)
Production historical data recorded completely on system (FT)
Repair historical data recorded completely on system (FT)
We can evaluate mold durability and or average mold life cycle (FT)
The system able set is as alert of mold life cycle or endurance mold (IA)
Tooling life time identification is clear (IA)
Production loading balance (balancing life cycle mold at production )(IA)
32
2013
Example: size 9 production mold consist of 6 sets of mold, each quantity pressing cycles were
different. Having detail cycle press per individual mold will able to manage loading and weight
capacity of individual mold.
In most case A set mold is always busier than other set
mold.

Q: How to entry data for break size 6 cavity with 3 different sizes, in current practice?
A: In data fields will only capturing minimum and maximum size, if mold construction multi cavity has 6 cavities
with different size. XML will not capture it. It should be no problem due to what we count here is cycle press of
mold; it is not about calculate the pair in mold.
A: the other way is in order to make clearer; factory also can add detail information under mold comment data
fields.
Q: Data fields No #...., about Mold type: Outsole, Midsole, Upper mold, other..how is should descript?
Example TPU for Shox product, it is part of what?
A: in RFC Tooling Memo, bottom tooling is only assigned 2 tool codes, it are Midsole and Outsole. TPU shank and
PU wedge are considering part of MS tool code.
39
2013
Q: Data field no.42 Mold Recoating Interval, data will input in days or cycle press?
A: Input data should be in cycle (not days) see the example input data of it.
Q: What is the standard of Mold Maximum Cycle Capacity ?
A: Currently is still under study, hope before September the standard will released. (It had been replace with Mold
Cycle Time MEOF)
Q: Does Nike standardize which one type of repair that should go to in-house or mold shop?
A: Nike will not drive factory to place repair order to anywhere, the authorization is in factory call.
Q: When is target upload the new tooling implemented?
A: In September, under FA14 seasonnew tooling is as minimum requirement. In other work if you already proceed
some of existing mold, it even better.
Q: How about big swoosh on outsole and pressed use separation color plate? Is it considered to count as color
way?
A: Yes
Q: How to manage data for existing mold, some of them have no historical data?
A: We will treat differently.
Starting FA14 season, all new mold will stamping base on the initial factory code
Below than FA14, existing mold will re-stamping uses factory code where these mold storage.
Note: Chris will help to search missing information of mold shop, mold fabrication date.
Q: How to manage data for existing mold, some of them has 20,000 sets of mold?
A: Nike will sort the existing mold and prioritizing which one mold that Category still keep, and entire mold
consider destroying. (Except category reserve it)Please continue inform this to Chris Scheerit is part of clean up
mold program later on.
Q: How to handling input data in same size but different alphabet (A,B, C)?
A: Planning and MMS Team should train person who able input data in each your bottom process (IP, PU, Rubber,
etc) Input will upload every changing shift. Please see detail explanation on chapter Data Fields page 27.
Q: How we get access into Cloud?
A: Please Contact Rahmi.Mahdaleni@nike.com , she is main contact in Nike who has authorization to assign Cloud
access
40
2013
Q: How factory should upload data into Cloud? Daily, weekly, monthly or seasonally base?
st
A: Monthly base (1 week)
Q: Does in the future this MMS will replace <MQAA?
A: No, but MMS will supporting MQAA
Q: How long does mold need to be recoating normally?
A: Each factory has own standard base on their experience. Nike will do not drive this and standardized.
Q: How about additional mold, DPA, model name data should current season or referred to original information?
A: Model Name, DPA, last code, etc.should follows the initial data / original data
Q: How entry data if current mold has double Tool code and or no tool code?
A: send a picture to Chris Scheer, explain detail with mold construction and component image attached. She will
revise or assign ne tool code for it and update into the system
Q : How about airbag in modular, do we need to key-in into Mold Data Management?
A : NO, airbag plug IN and OUT are not part of modular mold construction.
Q: In IP/IU case, factory treat 2 different process coating and cleaning in separate process. How we should count
it?
A: IP /IU for this moment just count the cleaning process into system, until we are ready to revise the data fields as
well as schema
Q: What kind of stamping that we should put into mold if the material in IP/IU mold use 2 different compound?
A: material or IU/IP compound that should stamp is the initial one.
