Dear Christian Friends,

I have just returned from Baguio

where

attended

the

funeral

of

Dennis McKlnney, a long time fel

low missionary in the Philippines.
Even though his death was sudden
and unexpected, we rejoice in
knowing Dennis-has received the
ultimate victory when he went home
to be with the Lord.

He is one who

has overcome the world, inherited

the kingdom of God, and now stands

in His presence praising Him. With
joy and anticipation we who know
Jesus Christ as our Savior can look
forward to the time when we will

have the ultimate victory and stand

before the Lord singing praises.
The annual
Missionary Gettogether in Baguio was already

To Our Dear Friends,

In our last newsletter to you we men

how

it

seemed

Satan

was

working overtime to mess things up

as the century was coming to a close.
Weil, since the Lord did not yet come,
it seems Satan is working even
harder. In our struggles we must re
member with whom we battle: "For

our struggle is not against flesh

and blood, but against the rulers,
against the authorities, against the
powers of this dark world and
against the spiritual forces of evil
In the heavenly realms." (Eph. 6:12)
We can praise the Lord in our strug
gles, because we know we are not
alone and we can be prepared for
them. "Therefore, put on the full
armor of God, so that when the day
of evil comes, you may be able to
stand your ground, and after you
have done everything, to stand."

Mary was a speaker for Missions

Home and held a free clinic for the
children and staff, and also for the

community:rne team also visited

two Agta villages. They treated hun
dreds of people. Later, all the gang
(37 total) reunited here, some staying
here at the Home and some staying
in Aparri. We had a wonderful time,
culminating once again in a big party
with gifts for all the children, a hot dog
and marshmallow roast (something
foreign to our kids), and tears when
everyone left. They also made three
tire swings for the kids which are en
joyed immensely! We are grateful for
the work these men and woman ac

complished.

were again very pleased with the
progress Ofelia is making with the
growth hormone. She goes beyond
their expectations and we know this is
a blessing from the Lord. Thank you
to all of you who have helped with
Ofelia's treatment, either through gifts
of money for medicine or air fare,
through prayers, or by providing
housing. We are blessed each time
with the love and hospitality shown
us. An added blessing has been for

roommate during her two-week stay
in the area. The fellowship in all this
was sweet.

Bert made sure all things operated

smoothly at the Home during this
time, but he was not to be without a

few challenges! Satan never takes a

day off, and Christians are never
given a vacation from his evil
scheming. We are thankful for the
Lord's help in working out these
problems. We were also able to
make some badly needed repairs on
some of our buildings. It Is now the
rainy season, and some termite eaten
areas were a concern to us.
We
were afraid that these weakened ar

eas might easily be destroyed by a

typhoon. We are thankful for the resen/e funds available to make these

repairs.
March: Accompanying Ofelia and
Mary on their return flight to the Phiiippines was Naomi RIceirom Salem,
OR, and four men from Redwood
Christian Church in Grants Pass,

OR. Naomi came to help out how

ever possible at the Home, doing a lot
of sorting and organizing during her
one month stay. The men went to the
campground to continue the work on
the Session Hall. They worked hard
in the heat and accomplished much in
their two weeks.
They also pur
chased a small cement mixer for the

camp to have for future use! All five

people were a great blessing to us.
We are so grateful for these willing
workers, and for those who backed

them up financially and with prayer.

We know they could not have come

Satan has been working hard to dis
