Wednesday, April 29 , our class will take the final

round of the DIBELS assessment, which was
discussed earlier in the year at our fall conference.
CWES uses a team approach to giving this test.
The team consists of several teachers the children
see in the building and has proven to be beneficial
for everyone. Parents will receive the results from
the 3rd assessment in their childs Friday Folder
when they are returned to me.
Thank you so much for the delicious food, treats,
cards, gifts, and thoughts that you sent in for
Teacher Appreciation Week!!!! I am extremely
lucky and grateful for such wonderful parental
support. You made me feel special when I met you
in August and you continue to do so through your
many acts of kindness!!
Make sure to take a look at your childs picture
proofs in this weeks Friday Folder. Orders are
due May 1st.
The last day for students to check out books from
the library is May 8th. Mrs. Bigham, our media
specialist, needs all books returned by then so that
she can complete our librarys inventory.

NEEDED
I have placed a very important form in your childs
Friday Folder today that I need filled out and
returned to school. The Health Assessment Record
must be returned in order to complete your childs
2015-16 registration process. Everyone needs to
fill out both sides! However, if your child does
not have any chronic health condition(s), the only
items needed on the second page are; checking the
box at the top and signing/dating at the bottom. I
appreciate your attentiveness in getting this back to
me as soon as possible. Even though the due date
is May 1, the sooner I get everyones back, the
easier it is! And please dont worry if you
accidently misplace your copyI can email you
another copy or will gladly send it home.

CWES is in the process of enrolling students for

the 2015-2016 school year! It is imperative that
everyone complete this process as soon as possible
since we do not want to lose a unit/classroom
based on low enrollment. If you have not started
and need help or have questions, please let me
know. The school has computers set up and there
are several people willing to assist anyone with this
process.

PARENT READING
This weeks reading, Are We Paving Paradise?, is
a handout I received a few years ago from a former
principal. The article traces the evolution of
kindergarten from its focus on children, to its focus
on outcomes, to its current focus on literacy and
math. The author expresses her worry about the
early childhood parts of kindergarten losing ground
to a growing allocation of time to academic
content. The article ends by discussing how the
kindergarten experience should be broad based,
contextual, and inclusive of all dimensions of
