This letter is a general inquiry regarding the position you have open that matches my qualifications and
interests.

As you will note on the enclosed resume, I have worked for the Indiana State Police, Laboratory
Division, Fort Wayne, since 1991. As a Forensic Scientist I, I was in charge of maintaining the integrity
of evidence from acceptance through testing and return. During my tenure with the Indiana State
Police I have conducted testing and analysis of over 42,000 cases. Additionally, I have served as an
Expert Witness in over 320 cases in thirty northeast Indiana counties.

Prior to my experience with the Indiana State Police, I completed an internship with Parkview Memorial
Hospital as a Medical Technologist(MT), Clinical Laboratory Scientist(CLS), and Level One
Phlebotomist.

I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology in 1989. I am a Board Certified

Clinical Laboratory Scientist and Medical Technologist.

While my experience in Forensic Science is not directly associated with medical studies, I have worked
in a laboratory acquiring and applying knowledge of testing processes, laboratory equipment operation,
and comprehensive report writing. Additionally, as an Expert Witness I am called upon to present a
professional image and communicate with court personnel in a clear and concise manner.

My experience with Parkview Memorial Hospital, RediMed, and Women’s Health Advantage provided
me with the opportunity to work in a health care setting and practice not only my technical skills but
patient relation skills as well.

My sales experience has come from a company called Books Are Fun, who is owned by Reader’s
Digest. I have managed my own inventory, sales, and earned salary based on commissions alone, as I
covered over 400 business accounts encompassing seven counties of the northern eastern part of the
state of Indiana, visiting each account twice every eight weeks. I was successful enough to have been
ranked as the top sales representative in my region after only 3 months in this new sales position, as
well as other top sales rewards since that time including largest growth in accounts called on, and most
growth for the region.

I am confident that many of the skills I offer, including my knowledge of sales, the medical/legal
communities, and pharmaceuticals, would readily transfer into a new career. I would welcome the
opportunity to meet with you. After you have reviewed my resume, please contact me to arrange for an
interview. I appreciate your consideration of my qualifications and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Jill M. Shaver-Mays
