Type UT5, UT5H, UT5D

Introduction
Trench is a recognized world leader in the
design and manufacture of high voltage
equipment for application on electric
utility and high energy industrial systems.
As part of Trench's product scope, the
Company produces a diversified range of
Instrument Transformers which are installed
on 69-800 kV electrical systems.
Instrument Transformers include:
Voltage (Potential) Transformers
(both inductive and capacitive
type), Current Transformers and
Combined Instrument Transformers
(voltage and current transformer in
one unit).
Voltage Transformers must convert
transmission class voltages to standardized low and easily measurable
values, which will be used for metering, protection and control of
the high voltage system. As such,
the need for accurate and reliable
voltage transformation is essential.

This brochure will detail the features and characteristics of types

UT5, UT5H and UT5D inductive
type Voltage Transformers.

Voltage transformer catalog numbers consist of a type
(number) followed by a suffix.
The TYPE number consists of the transformer Series designation followed by the BIL Rating (in kV). In this example,
UT5-550.

1) Voltage transformers are single-bushing ANSI C57.13 group 3 for connection phase-to-ground on solidly grounded Wye systems
(except for Type UT5D, which is ANSI C57.13 group 2 with secondary and tertiary ratings as shown).
2) 0.6 ZZ on tap of secondary and tertiary windings.
3) For voltage transformers with three secondaries, consult factory.
4) Contact factory for CSA standard ratings and 50 Hz application

1) The accuracy rating is based on the sum of the burdens on both windings not
exceeding the values listed above.
2) On the UT5-150-25, the burden rating is 0, W, X, M, Y and Z.
3) Contact factory for additional information on Hi-ACC High Accuracy transformers.
4) The 0.15% parallelogram is constructed using the same principles as the 0.3% parallelogram in accordance with ANSI Standard C57.13, except the maximum phase angle
and ratio correction factors of the 0.15% parallelogram are half those of the 0.3%
parallelogram.
5) The listed burden rating is for line-to-line application only. Burdens for line-to-ground
application, within the 0.3% accuracy rating, are 0,W,X,M,Y,and Z.
