• Stewart needed a SQL Server DBA/Sr. Developer and .NET solutions specialist to troubleshooting an EHS Insight tool
for a new software product in development stage that would pole atmospheric instrument readings within a paper
mills or printing production environment every minute by reducing database transaction times occurring during
instrument collection process, data manipulation, calculation, validation and database storage.
• Investigation revealed development changes in indexing including clustering, fill factor within SQL database, that
required moving VB.Net and ASP.Net code to SQL stored procedures, and concentrated effort in cleaning .Net code
through better-written classes, methods and functions,
• Reducing processing times from 48.4 seconds to less than 7 seconds per cycle in test environment and from 170
plus to less than 32 seconds in production environment
• Additional, the six member junior Stewart staff was encouraged to use a relational partitioning strategy using
parameterized queries and linear hashing algorithm to create sub-partitions, which would substantially reduce
response time, improving both CPU and memory resource usage and maintainability of active SQL databases,
resolving data retrieval issues associations without removing old data from the database.
• Leaving staff with above instructions garnered further production transaction time reductions from 32 seconds to
less than 8 seconds per cycle and overall database stability.

• Converted a 16-bit Visual Basic 4.0 application to VB 6.0 and upgraded the HLLAPI from IBM 4.1 to Rumba 7.0 for
the Gray, TN Operations Center with ASP for additional presentation layer that met project goals and milestones.
• Further developed an early warning Mainframe monitoring system for PQM that scanned CICS regions reporting
utilization and volume level, which then emailed team members/managers via Skytel when failure limits were about
to exceed.
• Provided a web pages using ASP with same information for the company’s Intranet site
• Maintained a historical database on SQL Server 7.0 and a MS Access 2000 backup database when SQL connections
could not be sustained
• Designed, developed and maintained a Data Information Resource Dictionary, which cataloged all mainframe
