ANNUAL LIFE PLANNER

Here is an outline of what your life plan might contain (feel free to add any other elements
you'd like to incorporate). Jot down your answers in the space below, use your online journal
at lifecoach.com, or write each on a separate index card.
BIG GOALS:
A big goal is something that would typically take six months to a year to achieve, so ideally
choose only one or two big goals a year. For example, my big goal this year was to write
Coach Yourself to a New Career, and then I have smaller projects as well. You might have a
big goal to run a marathon or take a training course or travel to a foreign country. Write your
big goal here:

PROJECTS
These are usually smaller tasks or objectives that won't take a year to complete such as
writing the first chapter of a book, building a deck, learning how to make great minestrone,
making a movie of your kids, etc. At least one of your three projects will be supporting your
big goal. (It works best if you never have more than one big goal and three projects going on
at a time and one of those three projects should be working toward the big goal!)

Forgive those who have harmed you, pay off any personal debts, apologize for any harm
done---whether intentional or not, get off that committee, resign from that volunteer position

CREATE A THEME FOR THE YEAR:
You may wish to declare a theme for the year that would guide your choices and actions. You
might choose to set a theme for "fun and adventure" if things have gotten a bit dull lately, or
"romance" to strengthen your love and relationships, or "health and vitality" if you are feeling
run down. Align your theme to one of your top core values and you can't go wrong. Select
whichever theme most inspires you. Then when you make decisions about whether or not to
do something over the course of the year, you can ask yourself if it is aligned with your
chosen theme. (After giving birth to my second daughter and breast-feeding for months, my
husband and I decided we needed to declare a year for fun!)
THEME FOR THE YEAR:_______________________________
INSTRUCTIONS:
Under each big goal (or on the flip side of the index card), jot down five to ten possible ways
you could achieve each goal. It helps to make a visual map of your life plan. You can get
some white board or cork board and push pins and post up pictures cut from magazines that
represent a visual image of your goal and theme for the year. You can use index cards with
the goal and projects written down and post them up on your board. You can glue pictures on
a piece of paper. The point is to create a visual reminder of what you want to accomplish over
the coming year. If you wish, invite friends over and make a party of it while you all cut out
images from old magazines and think about what you want to achieve in the coming year.
Some of my clients have posted up envelopes with the picture of the goal they want to
achieve on it and whenever they have spare cash, they put that money into the envelope. ;
You can do this life planning exercise at any time of the year and you can change and update
your theme and your goals and projects any time you wish--it is your life after all--enjoy it!

Top Ten Tips for Getting Unstuck

1. Clean up some clutter!
Dump out the kitchen junk drawer and
only put back what you need and toss
the rest. Get rid of all the books you've
already read and give them to friends
to tidy up your bookcases. Clean out
your inbox on your desk. Organize your
closet. Pick one area of clutter and get
it sorted! According the ancient
principles of feng shui, clutter
represents stuck energy, so if you are
stuck, this is a sure-fire way to get
moving again.
2. Get rid of 10 items in your house
you no longer need or use.
Toss the meat tenderiser in your
kitchen utensils drawer if you haven't
used it. Get rid of old mugs, books,
clothes that are clogging up your life.
You are creating the space for new
things and opportunities to come into
your life.
3. Make a small change in one area of
your life.
If you want to make a big change (new
career, new relationship), but can't
seem to do it, start with some small
changes that you can do. Eat at a
different restaurant than the one you
usually choose. Or order something
you've never tried at your old favorite

restaurant. Drive or walk to work on a


different route. If you eat lunch out,
pack lunch. Start making small
changes and that will help create the
momentum for the bigger changes.
4. Get rid of or handle one to three
things that you are currently putting
up with or tolerating. Fix that tear in
your bathroom robe. Replace the glass
in a broken window. Everything we
tolerate drains our energy, making it
hard to move forward to our bigger
goals.

5. Get a massage.
Loosening up the body helps to loosen
up the mind.
6. Spend some time in nature.
Even if it to lie under a tree in the local
park or to spend some time gazing at
the stars. Nature has a way of putting
things in perspective.
7. Do one thing you've been putting off
or postponing for a long time.
Get the dental appointment booked or
your eyes checked. Fix the leaky sink.
Write an old friend a long letter.
8. Hire a professional cleaning service
to come in and give your house a
spring cleaning from top to bottom.
This will literally shake the cobwebs off
you!

9. Write a list of the 7 negative or overinfluencers in your life.


Eg. 1. My boss micromanages me and

it drives me crazy. 2. I watch too much


TV. ...
10. Take a bath or shower.
Water has a way of stimulating our
creativity and you may come up with a
new way of looking at things/handling
things.
