ABSTRACT
This study was focused on the effectiveness of using FLOOD ALERT
SYSTEM VIA SMS FOR THE RESIDENTS OF MALAYA ST. BARANGAY
MALANDAY, MARIKINA CITY, S.Y. 2012-2013. The respondents were 103 male
and 147 female comprised of 250 randomly chosen residents of Malaya St.,
Malanday, Marikina City. Four specific aspects of the uses of the system, namely
as an Early Warning Alert, Flood Level Notification including Real-Time
Notification and Reporting of Logs and Forecasting, was gauged to determine if
there is any effectiveness delivered to the residents. Such where tested to its
benefits to the community such as security & risk management, costeffectiveness, producing ample lead-time, information dissemination and
forecasting and assessment.
The instrument to gather data is a questionnaire.
The respondents perceived that the FLOOD ALERT SYSTEM VIA SMS
have effectively and sufficient delivered the benefits to the community compared
to the presently implemented system.
It is revealed that the Flood Alert System via SMS yielded positive results
with regards to its use and benefits. The acceptance rate of the system is high
and mostly positive according to the check of effectiveness.
