What Are the Benefits?

A Terminal Server Architecture can
Increase Reliability
Increase Control
Increase Security
Decrease Maintenance and Energy Costs

Lower (TOC) Total Cost of Ownership

"The costs involved after purchase -- as is the case for most life-cycle
models -- normally exceed initial acquisition costs several times over
during the useful life of computing hardware. HP Whitepaper
According to a Gartner Group study, the total cost of ownership per year
and per user for a desktop computer is 3,300 - which includes training,
support and deployment costs - compared to 1,400 per thin client.
Compared with traditional PCs, thin clients cut maintenance costs by
71%, hardware and capital expenditure was down 61%, and energy
costs were reduced by 51%. - Lancaster University Study

Production Facility Issues
A production facility has many networked and standalone controllers and runs on a
multi-shift schedule.
Internal staff are constantly making modifications for bug fixing and optimisation.
External SIs and contractors are making modifications to software for enhancements and
new features.

Multiple programming devices are being used to make those changes.

Sometimes a change is made to the system that causes problems or downtime.
Finding and getting back to the optimum setting/version can take time and affect
product quality and output.

Versiondog
What is Versiondog?
Versiondog is software for backing up, managing and controlling your plant PLC and
SCADA software.

It provides data management and version control which includes change history, back
up and restore capabilities.
It stores all previous versions of code in the server and allows roll back to previous
versions as well as ability to see where changes have been made from any previous
version.
Versiondog recognises certain PLC code and knows where changes have been made
using smart compare modules.

Versiondog
What can it do?
Version
Control
Centralised
Scheduled
Backups

It backs up each version after every change so that any

version can be restored at any time.

It standardises and enforces procedures for version tracking

onto one single platform ensuring that every modification
can be reconstructed, assessed, restored or cancelled.
It performs and online backup and periodic intervals and
will notify of any deviations from the current master
version.

Versiondog
Compatibility
Versiondog works with the following systems?
Siemens S5 and S7
