Learning Objectives
1. Identify three career interests based on the Do What You Are and Career
Interest Profiler through Naviance.
2. Research courses needed for specific identified careers.
3. Select WPCP course that would benefit college/career goals.
Materials:

Handout: Your High School Classes Will Open the Doors to College,
Activity sheet: What Classes Will You Take to Prepare for College?
Procedure:
1. Distribute handout: Your High School Classes Will Open the Doors to College,
and activity sheet: What Classes Will You Take to Prepare for College?
2. After allowing students time to read and consider the handout. Ask them to
individually complete the activity sheet.
3. Divide students into small groups to compare responses.

4. Allow small groups to report to the larger group about the ways they are and
arent on track for college. 1. Have students pull up Naviance Interest Survey
results.
5. Students list three careers they are interested in and want to pursue one day.
6. Students research career and find three classes that would benefit them when
pursuing this career.
7. Students look at the Walter Payton class list and identify a class that they can
take in preparation for their career.
Plan for Evaluation: How will each of the following be collected?
Process Data: 46 white, Tier 4 Sophomore Students that identified that they
were unsure of career choices through Qualtrics survey.
Perception Data: Students will enroll in one class that they can identify as a
benefit to obtaining their college and career goals.
Outcome Data: Students that identified as unsure of college/career will
decrease from 72% to 52%
Follow Up: An assessment will be given at the end of the year to determine
students feelings toward their college/career goals.
