Project # 1: Qualitative Report

Marks: 15 (report) + 5 (presentation)

This Activity should be done in the assigned Groups only.

Context:
You are a group of business research professionals. UMT management has hired you to help
them in improving the students facilitation processes. This should be done by identifying the
problems of the students. By doing so, UMT management will try to rectify those issues and
improve the brand image of the university.

Select a Business Research Manager

Select a name of you Research Company.
Select the title of each team member
Develop a timeline which indicates the tasks performed by each team member.
Timeline should include all the information, even regarding the time allocated to
printing and binding of the report.

1 This project should be completed on Campus.

2 The topic of the project should ONLY be selected from the problems given below.
3 There must be at least 2 in-depth interviews, and one hour of participant
observation.

1. Read Slides- Lecture 6 for the content. It should include everything
7. Sample\ Participant Selection.
8. Data Analysis and Discussion.
9. Conclusion Answer all the questions which you posed in the beginning of the
report.
10. Appendices Field notes, Interview transcription etc.
Tips:

1. Collect Data simoultanesly to save time

2. Allocate tasks
3. Interview should be conducted with at least two team members present. One
should take the field notes and other should ask questions.
4. Divide participant observation in 30 minutes slot and two members should do it at
the same time at different locations.
5. Divide the report writing tasks.
Outcome:
Develop a comprehensive report consisting above items. It should be submitted no later than
02:00 PM on 25/05/2015. LATE REPORTS WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED and you will receive
an automatic F.
Must DO:

1 You MUST tell students that it is a dummy project, and not a real project. Failure
to do so will get you F in this assignment.
2 Keep records of everything ranging from brainstorming sessions, problems write
up, interview and observation notes.
3 Dedicate duties. This should be the job of the Business Research Manager.
