Family

I come from a small family. Unfortunately, Im an only child and I havent got any brothers
or sisters. I live with my parents and my grandma, who is a pensioner. There are four
people in our family: my grandma, my mother, my father and me. My father is 46 years old,
he is an IT specialist. My mother is 55 and she is a manager. My ma is a short, average
woman. She is very careful of her appearance. My father is tall and stout. I get on quite well
with my parents. They trust me and let me do what I want, thus they give me a lot of
freedom. They treat me like an adult and I can always turn to them for any help or advice.
At the weekends, we go and visit those members of the family who dont live with us. My
grandfather died seven years ago but my grandma is still alive. She is eighty years old and
lives with us. We all love her cooking, especially her cakes. I quite often see my
grandparents. My father has got a sister and my mum too. This means that I have got two
aunts and they both have children. They are my cousins.

Hobbies

Im a 19 year old girl, so I like doing everything I can. In summer in holiday, me and my
friends always go to lake Balaton to swim, to have a party, to be happy and to make some
friends. I like water very much. I like sailing. The another hobby is sewing. I make clothes
for mself and the oder members of the family too. I also like embroidery.
In my spare time I like listening to music. When the weather is nice, I like going on trips. I
especially like walking in the mountains. Some people like for example: Gardening Travelling
Visiting friends Doing cross-word Writing poetry Playing card games Do some sport
Collecting stamps

Shopping

Window-shopping
I love window-shopping. I like walking up and down in front of shop-windows. I love
especially in the new shopping centre, where there are a lot of boutiques.
Every-day shopping
I do my every-day shopping in the nearest shop. I am a regular customer there. The
assistants know me, and they are very politely with me. I often do the shopping on my way
home from work. Every day I buy bred, milk, some cold cuts and basic food for supper and
breakfast.

Weekend shopping
To do my weekend shopping I go to the nearest supermarket because it sells almost
everything that a family needs. The customers walk about filling their baskets from the
selves. The shops are full of customers. On Saturdays you always have to queue up in front
of the counters as well as at the pay desks. In a supermarket you can get almost everything
under one roof. Almost all supermarkets are self-service shops. They are very popular.
Some people dont like it. These people have to walk from shop to shop a long time.
But the supermarkets have lower prices than small shops. I suppose this is because bulk
sale is cheaper.
Supermarket
The largest supermarket in our town is a self-service store.
The first counter to your right is the FRUIT AND VEGETABLE COUNTER with its fresh fruits,
for example oranges, bananas, pineapples, apples, plumbs, peaches, pears, grape, cherry
and lots of different kinds of vegetables, for example: onion, potato, paprika, carrot.
Next we come to the CONFECTIONERY shelves with all sorts of sweets, chocolate bars,
cakes, biscuits and other sweets.
Then comes the BAKERY COUNTER, which is always stocked with fresh breads, rolls,
croissant, buns etc.
Further down are the DRY GROCERIES shelves, where you buy flour, cereals, tea, spices,
salt and sugar.
There is also a big DAIRY counter with a large variety of dairy products: milk, cheese,
butter, margarine, cream and yoghurt.
Next to this is the DELICATESSEN. This counter sells sausages, ham, bacon, and salami.
A special counter handles PACKED MEATS. There is a wide choice of chicken, pork, beef,
veal, duck and turkey.

Shops
I love window-shopping. I like walking up and down in front of shop windows and looking
round especially in the new boutiques. I dont have to buy every day, because my mum
does the shopping in her lunchtime. She buys bread, rolls, milk and some cold cuts.
Everybody doing their big shopping at weekends, so shops is crowded and full of customers
I prefer shopping in super- or hyper-markets, because I can get almost everything under
one roof. They have lower prices than small shops. The largest hypermarkets in our town
are Tesco and Auchan. The selves are well-stocked with wide choice of attractively packed
goods, from deep frozen to washing powder. There are a lot of counters for example fruit
and vegetable, bread and cake, milk and diary produce, grocery and wine counter.
Smaller shops are privately owned and their number is growing from month to month.
These shops are bakers, butchers and greengrocers.
Housewives like going to the market place because fruit, vegetables are much cheaper than
in any shops. At the stands private farmers sell their own homegrown, onions and other
kind of vegetables and fruits. There are a lot of department stores in Budapest. For example
Westend City Center, technical and electrical shops.

Friends

I AM GOING TO write about my best friend. My best friend is Rka. We met in the shool
in class one. We didntt speak a lot TO each other when we were little. We began
talkING in class 5. Now, we are inseparable. She has got long, crimp brown hair and
brown eyes. She likes dogs and rabbits. She has got a dog and A rabbit. She has got a
brother. His name is Marci. She lives in Szombathely with her parents. I LIKE her,
because she is reliable, understanding and kind. We DO everything together. Last
summer, we went to Italy. It was a great holiday with her. I hope we are going to be
friends forever.
My best friend
We met on the trip in Germany for the first time. We spent together three weeks and we got to
know each other fairly well. Her name is Lenka. She lives 4 km from my village, in Gerlachov, but
she studies at high school in Preov now. She is one year younger than me, and shes the only child
as me. Shes medium height but shes very thin. She has got long wavy tinted hair and fringe. Her
natural colour is fair.
Her face is oval with soft features. She looks cheerful but when shes mad, she has solemn face
and protruding cheek-bones. Her deep blue eyes are sparkling. She has straight nose, wide lips
and even teeth. She has nimble gestures, she wears glasses and has tanned skin, because she
returned from the holiday in Greece last week.
When she was younger she was antiskola.sk always optimistic, but she is more realistic now. She is
warm-hearted, emotional but sometimes moody. She has a sense of humour and shes mostly
hesitated in complicated situations. Shes sociable, tolerant, amusing and she loves animals,
especially dogs and her guinea pig Tom. She is also tender, kind and sensitive to peoples
shortcomings. On the other hand, sometimes shes very lazy, rude and impolite. She taught young
children in Sunday school and when she studied in Poprad, she was a voluntary youth fireman.
Shes clever and very ambitious, she has one big dream become a lawyer.
Like other girls of her age, she likes dancing, singing, listening to punk music, reading books and
so on. She isnt a sporty girl but she cycles a little.
We spend quiet a lot of time together. She understands my problems and I can rely upon her. We
go together to pubs, to cinema, to concerts of punk groups or we go shopping. Sometimes we just
stroll around the town and talk about our families, school or boys. Mostly we have the same view
of things but if we argue, we never find a compromise, because we are both very headstrong.
Although she has her faults, I love her as my little sister and shes almost a member of our family.
We make a telephone call twice a day and it isnt very cheap, as well. I hope well stay the best
friends forever.
