Facilitator Availability
I'm usually available 5:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on most weekdays and from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on most
Saturdays, but I attempt to reserve Sunday for my family. Phone calls and posts will be responded to
within 24 business hours, so please dont wait until the last minute to ask a question, as I may not be
available to give an immediate response. If these times are not convenient for you, please let me know. I
will be happy to accommodate your schedule, if possible. I provide you with these times to make it easier
to communicate with me, and not to limit our contact. However, keep in mind that failure to prepare in
advance on your part doesnt constitute an emergency on my part. Also, please note that I do not
communicate with students via text message. If your question can be answered via our Online
Learning System (OLS), please post it in the Main Forum or your Individual Forum.
For emergencies, when you are not able to gain access to messages on the Online Learning System
(OLS), please send a message to my personal email address. In the event a third party needs to contact
me, please direct them to my contact information listed under "facilitator information." No third party
should use your login credentials to gain access to the classroom.
Should you need to contact me outside these time frames, you should not hesitate to do so.

Late Assignments
Assignments submitted via the Assignments link after 6:00 PM Eastern Time (weekdays) on the day of
the workshop due will be considered Late. Late assignments will be accepted for up to 72 hours the day
following the workshop due; however, a 10% penalty will apply for each 24hour late period.
Assignments submitted more than 72 hours late will not be accepted for credit. The definition of Eastern
Time will be Eastern Daylight Savings Time during applicable periods of the year. In the event of a
University of Phoenix server outage, students should submit assignments to the instructor via e-mail.
When systems are restored, submit those assignments according to syllabus instructions. Unless an
Incomplete grade has been granted, student/learner assignments submitted after the last day

Learning Teams
University of Phoenix students are expected to work effectively in diverse groups and teams to achieve
tasks. They must collaborate and function well in team settings as both leaders and followers. They
should respect human diversity and behave in a tolerant manner toward colleagues and peers. If you
experience difficulties working with your team, you are expected to resolve them within the team if
possible. However, please feel free to contact me for guidance if you have concerns in this area. Because
Learning Team projects are outcome-based, all members of your Learning Team will generally earn the
same grade for Learning Team projects. However, I reserve the right to report different grades for
different Learning Team members if I see a substantial imbalance in individual contribution.

Learning Teams should provide a brief summary of any communication held outside the forum. Therefore,
if you hold conference calls, work in a real-time chat room, or get together outside the OLS (Online
Learning System) environment in another way, please post a log, transcript, or summary in the Learning
Team forum. Further, do not use any of these supplementary communication tools unless everyone on
your Learning Team agrees to the method and to the schedule. If you have any questions, please contact
me.

Learning Team Charters and Peer Evaluation forms are required. Please see the instructions in the
weekly sections for more information.
It is expected that you will actively participate with your learning team and contribute to the team
discussions by a) contributing original work that is accepted and used by the team with proof of originality
b) participating in the project from assignment organizing through meaningful final review of the team
project for submission, and c) ensuring to your team that your contributions are your original work and
properly quoted, cited, and referenced. You are required to submit your contribution to the Learning
Team assignment to the Learning Team forum.

Requirements-

All papers submitted are required to be written and cited according to the Required Writing Manuals. For
information on how to purchase required copies of the University of Phoenix approved publication and
reference manuals, please refer to the link titled, Required Writing Manuals, which can be found on the
left hand column of your course web page(s). These writing manuals have distinct features and will be
valuable reference tools throughout your academic programs.

All papers must be properly written and formatted in compliance with APA requirements. Papers are
graded based on 60% content, 20% organization, and 20% proper written style (grammar, punctuation,
spelling, etc.)
It is strongly encouraged that each student submits his/her papers to WritePoint at the Center for Writing
Excellence and make any editing changes necessary before turning the paper in for credit. In addition, a
copy of the Plagiarism Checker Turnitin Originality Report should be submitted with each paper. The
Plagiarism Checker Turnitin Originality Report can be produced by submitting a copy of the paper through
the Center for Writing Excellence. A download option is available when viewing the completed report.
Please submit early, as the Plagiarism Checker may take up to 24 hours from time of submission to
produce the Report. Please note that written assignments should contain more than 20% direct quotes or
paraphrased quotes. In other words, I care about what you know, not what you can copy from someone
else.
Also, keep in mind that the Plagiarism Checker is not our only source for identifying plagiarism. I will
employ any methods available to detect plagiarism, and I will randomly test your assignments for
plagiarism after theyve been submitted. If your assignment is found to have been plagiarized, you will
automatically receive a zero, and you will be reported to the University.

For this course, you will be required to post the Certificate of Originality available in our Course Materials
forum for all Individual and Learning Team assignments. The University has implemented the use of this
document to increase awareness of Academic Integrity. The University places a high priority on
maintaining Academic Integrity and ensuring that proper credit is being given for others words and ideas
used in the development of your written assignments.
The Certificate of Originality document should be completed by typing your name in the appropriate field.
When you post an assignment to the Assignments link, also post an electronically signed copy of the
Certificate of Originality at the same time.
Assignment Word Limits
Each written assignment has a word limit. If the limit is 700-1050 words, then your assignment
submission must be within that limit, not counting references at the end. This is important for two
reasons. First, the higher you go in management, the more people appreciate brevity in writing. Keeping
your writing precise, concise, simple and clear will be noticed in the workplace, and appreciated.
Executives really dont like to read long essays! Second, and more immediate to this class, if you exceed
the upper limit (1050 words, in this example); you have more words available to meet the requirements of
the paper. That gives you an unfair advantage over other students who observed the limitations.
In this class, if a student exceeds the assignment length, there will be an automatic point reduction of the
same percentage that the paper exceeded the length. For example, if the 700-1050 word paper is
valued at 100 points, and a student writes 1260 words, thats 20% over the permitted length, and the
student automatically loses 20 points (20% of the points available), even before the grading begins. Dont
exceed the word limit it is unfair to others, and costs points. Some will find it challenging to learn to write
concisely, but it is a skill that you will value moreas will those who read your writing.
There is no penalty for writing fewer than the minimum words, but of course you run the risk that you have
not met all requirements.

Classroom Management
Policies
Attendance: Due to the short time we have together, it is critical that all students arrive to class on time at
6:00 p. m.... You must be physically present and prepared for the entire session of each class meeting.
Arriving late/leaving early will result in the lost of several participation points for that workshop.
Be Prepared! Each week we will be discussing the assigned discussion question material for that week. It
is expected that you will have completed all the readings and assignments for discussion prior to coming
to class. We will also be discussing the upcoming weeks material so it would be advisable to look over
that material as well.
Classroom Etiquette: All mobile phones or devices must be on silent. Laptops are for in-class activities;
however, they must remain closed until the appropriate time. Do not take calls during class time. Do not
text during class time. If you have an emergency communication (call or text message), please leave the
class very quietly to address the communication. You are expected to return to class within a couple of
minutes; otherwise, you might lose participation points. For their safety and protection, children must not
be in the classroom. There are not exceptions to this rule. Food and beverages are during class times.
Talking during classroom presentations or during classroom facilitations is unacceptable.
Cell phones are not allowed in the classroom, INCLUDES TEXTING. If you have an important call

and must take it please step out of the room politely so you do not disrupt the class. Texting during
class is strictly forbidden. Again, if you must communicate using your cell phone step out into the hall.
Absence from the class will have a detrimental effect on your participation grade. Laptops are to be
used for classroom purposes only and will only be allowed when deemed necessary.
Presentations
When you are scheduled to do a presentation, you should be prepared to give it anytime between 6 p.m.
and 10 p.m. If we start presentations at 6 p.m. and you (or a representative from your team) are not in
class and ready to present, your team is to move on without you and you will not receive a grade.
