Dear Friend,
Greetings to you on this beautiful summer day! This is the day the Lord has
made for us, and we will rejoice and be glad in it! One of the greatest things in life to
know is that the Lord loves and cares for you. We can turn to the Bible each time
and read of His tender mercies and loving kindness. For example, He said in Isaiah
63:9, "In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved
them: in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bare them, and
carried them all the days of old." Only a loving parent can understand this, for
regardless of what that son or daughter is going through, that parent goes through the
afflictions, too. Many times we carry our children in our hearts, even when we are
old and they become old as well! Anguish, adversity, trouble, or distress may come
our way, but the Lord bares all these things, too, for us, many times silently and in
the shadows. But if we seek Him with all our hearts, He is found of us. There are
some things He has to let us go through for many different reasons, but He never
leaves us or forsakes us in those times.
One of the verses of Scripture I read recently that carried the people of Israel
in their times of testings and trials is found in Ezra 9:8 & 9. The enemy entered
their land and destroyed their cities and took many people away captive to a strange
land. Almost 70 years had elapsed and as you can imagine, those who had lived all
that time in bondage had become weary and heart-sick for home. God raised up
prophets to encourage the people to trust the Lord and not look on their
circumstances. Ezra was a scribe God raised up at that time. He recognized that the
main reason for all this trouble was the sins of the nation. He prayed a prayer that
still resonates in our day, saying, "For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not
forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us..." Isn't it
wonderful to think that despite our sins and errors and mistakes God has mercy on
us? We may not deserve it but He extends it to us! Punishment is reversed when we
acknowledge our sins and turn from them with all our heart. But it goes beyond
freedom from punishment: the Lord sends us a reviving. His Spirit brings us to life
again, even in our distress! We may have lost some things over the years, but if you
will look deeper in your own heart, you will see the seeds of faith that were planted

there in years gone by. As I stir myself to pray and seek the Lord with all my heart,
soul, mind, and strength, faith begins to burst forth!
God's Word imparts courage to the hearer and faith to the seeker. I may feel
my lack and see my need but I am not discouraged because I have learned at those
times the Lord is my strength and He is my provider! King David said that he once
was young but became old, yet he never saw the righteous forsaken nor His seed
begging bread. In other words, God always provides for His own. He doesn't
skedaddle at the first signs of trouble. He isn't disappointed when we are not at our
best physically. Problems do not surprise the Lord. He doesn't second-guess Himself
when it comes to dealing with His people. He doesn't say, "Oops: I didn't know they
would act that way!" No. He knows everything about us. He understands our
thoughts afar off. There is not a word on our tongues that He doesn't know about.
Yet, He still loves us. He still pleads for us to turn to Him with all our hearts. If my
parents hung in there with me through my teen-age years and never gave up on me,
the Lord, "Our Father which art in heaven," also never gives up on us! His example
of parenting is divine. He knows when to correct and when to comfort. He is
gracious and kind to all His children. Not only that, He has prepared for us an
inheritance that doesn't fade away, reserved in heaven for us some day! Our
existence here on earth is just a vapor, but cannot be compared to the glory we will
experience when Jesus Christ returns for us one day! The song writer once penned,
"Take courage then, oh fainting heart; For you He will make a way!" I believe the
Lord will help you in every area you need help when you put your faith and trust in
Him! He will give you wisdom and will bring forth light for your path each day. The
Bible says, "Thou wilt show me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy;
at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore" (Psalm 16:11).
I invite you to our church services. We meet on Sundays at 10 AM and 7 PM
and Wednesday at 7:30 PM. May God bless you "more abundantly" always, and
remember, take good courage and trust in the Lord, for He will never leave you or
forsake you!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
