Hong Kong College of Technology (HKCT) is a charitable
and independent post-secondary education institution under the HKCT Group

Limited. Formerly known as the Mongkok Workers Night School, which was
established in 1957, the HKCT has striven continuously to contribute to the
local education for over 50 years.
In 2001, HKCT was granted an accredited status by the Hong Kong Council
for Academic Accreditation (now the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation
of Academic and Vocational Qualifications) as the first of its kind being
sanctioned by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Governments
policy in expanding tertiary education for the delivery of accredited full-time
programmes at Higher Diploma level. HKCT Higher Education consists of five
divisions, namely Division of Business, Division of Applied Technology, Division
of Humanities and Social Sciences, Division of Languages and Communication,
and Division of Media and General Studies. On offer are a series of fulltime post-secondary programmes covering areas including social work,
design, language, information technology, tourism and hospitality, business
administration, professional accounting and so on. In 2009, HKCT was granted
by the government a vacant school premises at Yiu On Estate, Ma On Shan.
The premises was then established as HKCTs independent campus for higher
education. Today, HKCT offers a wide spectrum of courses to secondary school
graduates, including Higher Diploma for Tertiary Studies and Yi Jin Diploma.

At the latest Higher Education Review 2014, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in
UK has confirmed the quality and standards of provision at Leeds Beckett University (previously known as
Leeds Metropolitan University). The review identified the following areas of good practice:
the Universitys comprehensive and systematic engagement with collaborative partners through formal
and informal mechanisms; and
the way employability is embedded in the design, approval and delivery of courses.

This programme will equip students for a wide range of stimulating careers such as accounting, finance
and business. It provides students with a good understanding of both accounting and finance and
their importance within organisations. The programme puts students on the fast track to qualifying as
a professional accountant. When students graduate they will have substantial exemptions towards
qualifications from professional accounting bodies such as ACCA depending on level of entry. For DSE
students, they will gain all 9 papers exemption in these 3 years of study, which is equivalent to those
who study at a local university in 4-year duration. As for Higher Diploma graduates joining our top-up
(year 3) programme, they could gain a maximum exemption of 3 papers (paper 7, 8 and 9) depending on
their previous qualification. Gaining full 9-paper exemption at ACCA is surely one of the most important
milestones in progressing into the profession of accountancy. If students wish to further their study, there are
postgraduate study opportunities at Leeds Beckett University include MSc Financial and MSc Accounting
and Finance as well as the ACCA professional awards and the Graduate MBA.

This programme provides students with an extensive academic grounding in business and equips them with
the practical skills that employers are seeking. Students will learn about key business functions including
marketing, human resources management, accounting and economics. Additionally they will also have the
opportunity to specialize in a particular area or choose from a variety of modules so they can achieve a
rounded business education.
Employability is at the heart of this degree. Personal development planning has been designed in this
programme to sharpen students professional skills and to ensure the success in the job market is included
at every stage.

On this programme, students will gain highly sought-after skills in computer programming, database
development, networking, website development, systems modeling and computer security. Students will
get the opportunity to work on real-world projects, focusing on a specai list area of their choice. These
include web technology, mobile communications, database or software development. This programme
links students into opportunities within the computing industry. Alternatively students may wish to progress
on to a postgraduate programme at Leeds Beckett University in web applications development, managing
software development or advanced computing.

This programme is aimed at students who wish to develop and succeed as professional travel and tourism
managers. It focuses upon employability and a responsive business approach to the international travel
and tourism industry. In particular, the programme encourages students to acquire a constructive and
critical understanding of the global tourism industry and the wider socio-cultural, political, economic and
environmental contexts in which it is placed. Graduates will be suited for a wide range of employment
sectors including accommodation, attractions, tourism planning and policy, travel transportation and

This programme is a vocationally orientated programme designed for aspiring managers in the events
industry. Students will learn how to meet the challenges of organizing meetings, incentives, and events, as
well as developing their own live events. The programme is the first 3-year full-time event management
undergraduate programme in the UK market. The University was ranked 3rd in the UK for Hospitality,

Diploma (Full-time 1 year)
The International Foundation Diploma offered by HKCT is the
first step in preparing students for entry to higher education by
building up both their generic skills and professional knowledge.
It receives full articulation pathway to the full degree of Leeds
Beckett University (Leeds Beckett) and University of Central
Lancashire (UCLan).

fostering us, which makes our HKCT life wonderful, prosperous and comprehensive. I also appreciate my teachers

For students who have successfully completed the Maths Plus elective
subject, the qualification acquired under the Programme is comparable
to the attainment of Level 2 standard in five subjects including Chinese
Language, English Language and Mathematics in the HKDSE Examination.
The Yi Jin Diploma is recognized under the Qualifications Framework as
meeting the accreditation standards at Qualifications Framework Level 3.
This recognition is applicable to the Yi Jin Diploma qualification obtained
by students who are admitted to the full-time or part-time programme and
who have graduated after successfully competing all the five core and three
elective subjects during the 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 academic years.
Both full-time and part-time eligible YJD students will receive
reimbursement of 30% of the tuition fees paid for each satisfactorily
completed subject, subject to their having attained an overall pass in
the subject and achieved 80% attendance or above for the subject as
confirmed by the institution. However, the subjects must be essential
for the completion of the YJD programme, and under the programme a
student can only receive tuition fee reimbursement for a maximum of 8
subjects. As the reimbursement is subject-based, students who have failed
in individual subjects are still eligible for fee reimbursement for the other
subjects in respect of which they have attained an overall pass.
Students meeting the assessment and attendance criteria and being
assessed to be eligible for full level or half level of assistance under the
means test administered by the Student Financial Assistance Agency
(SFAA) are eligible for 100% or 50% reimbursement of the tuition fees paid
for each satisfactorily completed subject.

Application Procedures
Step 1
The College will send an acknowledgement via e-mail upon receipt of your paper application. For
online application, the acknowledgement will be issued immediately after your submission.
Step 2

The College may ask you to attend an interview and/or a written test from May 2015 onwards.
Relevant applicants will be notified by e-mail in advance. Second Interview may be arranged if
necessary.
Step 3
After interview, Result Notification will be issued through e-mail.

Programme Enrolment
Important Notes
1.
1. For verification purposes, you will be required to present the original

of all supporting documents at the time of registration. Failure to do
so may lead to nullification of your offer.
2.
2. Your application will be considered based on programme choices,

academic qualifications, interview performance, conduct at school
and written test (if applicable) as well as study places available.
HKCT reserves the right of cancellation of programme due to

insufficient enrollment or special circumstances and the right of
granting offer. Applicants will be notified accordingly.

3. Please note the deadlines stated in the Offer Letter. If you cannot
achieve the requirements listed on the Offer Letter before deadlines,
the study place will be released to another qualified applicant.
4.
4. SMS and e-mail will be the major communication channels between

the College and you. You must provide a mobile phone number and
an e-mail address accurately.
Please check your mailbox regularly as important announcements

and Offer Letter will also be issued through e-mail. Also, please
ensure the setting of your mailbox will not block the e-mail from
the College.

5. Applicants who do not have the right of abode or the right to land in
Hong Kong should obtain a visa or an entry permit to study in Hong
Kong from the Immigration Department of the HKSAR Government
before the semester commences; otherwise your study place will
be cancelled or your registration will be nullified. Any fees paid will
NOT be refunded.

6. If you will take HKDSE in 2015, the College reserves the right to
collect your public examination results from the Hong Kong
Examinations and Assessment Authority.

7. The College has been complying with the requirements of the

Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance to ensure that applicants
personal data are kept securely and accurately. If you would like to
access or amend your personal information, please send a written
request to the Hong Kong College of Technology.

Collection of Acceptance Offer (Current HKDSE Candidate only)
1. 2015715
1. Current HKDSE Candidates who have been granted a

provisional offer should bring along the Provisional Offer
Letter with HKDSE result slip to claim a formal Acceptance
Offer in person at the HKCT Specified Campus on the day of
HKDSE result announcement, 15 July 2015. For details, please
refer to the Provisional Offer Letter. Upon verification of the
fulfillment of the required condition(s) listed in the Provisional
Offer Letter, the College will issue a formal Acceptance Offer
Letter.

2. The Provisional Offer Letter will be deemed invalid if the

applicant does not claim the offer by the deadline specified
above and the study place will not be reserved for the applicant.
How to Pay Application Fee

1.
1. Every applicant has to pay an application fee of HK$120,

otherwise the application will not be proceeded.
2.
2. Whether admission interview is arranged or the application

is successful or not, application fee is non-refundable or non
transferable.

3. The Application Fee can be settled by the following methods:

2. Crossed Cheque (By mail or In Person at the HKCT Jockey

1. 2015-2016
1. The tuition fees for the 2015-2016 academic year are subject to
the final approval from the Education Bureau.

2. Applicant must pay the Deposit / 1st installment of tuition fee

on or before the deadline stipulated in the Offer letter.

3. Deposit / 1st installment of tuition fee can be settled by the

following methods:

Refund of Tuition Fees

1. The paid tuition fee will NOT be refundable or transferable except for
unsuccessful application or cancellation of programme or acceptance
of UGC-funded Degree programme through JUPAS for current HKDSE
candidates.
Applicants whose applications fail will be notified by the College via email.
2.
2. In case a programme is cancelled, the applicant can apply for a refund

of tuition fee by presenting a related official receipt to the general
office of a designated HKCT campus within one month after being
notified. Refund will NOT be processed after the deadline.
3.
3. If the applicant paid the tuition fee, but ultimately the admission
eligibility cannot be achieved, the applicant can apply for a refund
of tuition fee by presenting a related official receipt to the general
office of a designated HKCT campus within one month after issuance
of the result. Late submission or failure in presenting valid supporting
documents would not be accepted.

4. Tuition fee paid by credit card will be refunded through the respective
credit card company. In case of request for refund in the form of a
crossed cheque, 3% of tuition fee will be charged as administrative fee
and no objection can be raised.

accepted offers of the UGC-funded Degree programmes from JUPAS,
please come to HKCT campuses to apply for deposit refund before 13
August 2015, noon (After JUPAS main round offer results) or 26 August

beyond the deadline will NOT be accepted. Full refund of payment of
deposit with deduction of an administrative fee of HK$200.
