University. As a senior in high school that is aspiring to go to college in the sciences, this scholarship

sport that I know and love.
I am currently in my last year at Browndale High School. MY cumulative GPA is 3.87, demonstrating my
high level of commitment to academic excellence. I am enrolled in all honors and AP Courses, and have
accumulated 23 college credits through AP tests alone. I hope that this shows that I am committed and
ready to achieve at a college level academically.
In addition to my academic achievements, I am also a skilled tennis player. I started playing as part of
the Junior Varsity team as a freshman, and have played for the Varsity team since then. Our team has
been named county champion for all four consecutive years. I greatly enjoy the game and hope to be
able to continue playing throughout my tenure in college. Despite my heavy courseload during high
school, I was able to balance both academics and sports, and have been a recipient of the Excellence
in Academics and Athletics award at my school every semester so far. I am confident that in college, I
will be able to continue to uphold my academic standards while playing at the top of my game and
making Frankwook proud.
I am attracted to Frankwook University because it is a school renowned for its rigorous science
program. I aspire to become a medical researcher, and I know the resources available to me in
Frankwook would be difficult to find anywhere else. Additionally, it is located close to my house,
where I can easily return to take care of my younger brothers while my father is away. The Stonefield
Tennis Scholarship would enable me to attend college and pursue my dreams.

I am writing this letter to express my interest in the Applegate Scholarship for Student Athletes from
the University of Florida. It is my hope to use this scholarship to aid in the pursuit of my bachelor's
degree in Psychology.
Despite coming from a disadvantaged background, my family has always stressed the importance of
academic success. I graduated from high school with a 3.97 GPA, the second highest in the class. I am
very dedicated towards my schoolwork and I plan to continue succeeding throughout my university
studies. My interest in psychology was sparked from a young age when my father was diagnosed with
schizophrenia and had to be hospitalized. My aim is to further the academic knowledge and treatment
options for mental diseases, so that families like mine can learn to support each other.
Along with my academic devotion, I am also extremely passionate about soccer. Throughout high
school, I played front center for my school, Junior Varsity and then Varsity Women's Soccer team. We
were undefeated in the county for all four years that I played. In college, I also hope to be able to
continue playing the sport that I love. I understand that being a student athlete requires rigorous self discipline and hard work, but I believe that my academic record shows that I am ready for such a
commitment.
College has been a dream for many generations of my family. My mother was planning to return to
school when my father fell sick and it became her responsibility to become the breadwinner of the
family. Similarly, my older brother decided not to go to college because he needed to work to help my
mother financially. Their sacrifices have enabled me to focus on becoming the first person in my family
to pursue higher education. I plan to succeed, regardless of what obstacles come my way.
