Psoriasis.
There are 5 types of psoriasis known today. The most common form of psoriasis is a disease
with symptoms in the form of red spots covered with silver-white incrustation of dead skin
cells. Psoriasis can appear on any part of the body and is connected to other grave illnesses
like diabetes, heart diseases and depressions.
Symptoms and diagnostics
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that causes red, scaly spots on skin. It appears most often
on the outside of elbows, knees or on head skin, but it can also appear at any place on skin.
Some patients with psoriasis report itching similar to a burn or insect stings.
Diagnostics
In 95% of cases the consulting physician can diagnose psoriasis visually. Psoriasis can look
similar to eczema but there are several differences:
Psoriasis patches have clear, round outlines; with eczema they are usually flat and
less sharply marginated.
Eczema usually appears in specific places, which is not typical for psoriasis: front part
of a knee or behind knees. Psoriasis appears more often on the outside of knees and elbows,
hairy parts of the head, lower parts of the back, face, hands, and feet soles. It can also appear
in other places: finger nails, toe nails, genitals and mouth.
By biopsy sampling, skin with psoriasis looks thicker and more inflamed
comparing to skin with eczema.
Your physician should also ask you about your familys history of psoriasis. According to
statistical studies of dermatologist Dr. Paul Yamauti at Dermatology and Skin Care
Department of Santa Monica Institute, California, the USA; about one-third of psoriasis
patients inherited it from their parents.
Psoriasis Treatment
Psoriasis treatment is of crucial importance for good management of the disease and general
well-being. Regular consultations with a physician will help cure the disease by choosing a set
of measures to reduce or remove the symptoms. What works with one person with psoriasis
may not work with another one. Thats why it is important to know several treatment methods
and keep trying until you find the right treatment regimen and strategy for you.
There are several psoriasis treatment methods in current dermatology practices.
Grave psoriasis cases (biological intervention)
Treatment by (bio-) medical products injected, for example, intravenously. These medical
products are based on proteins obtained from live cells cultivated in a laboratory. The
appearance of new molecular engineering methods accelerated the use of biomedical
products in current medicine. This method is different from traditional systemic agents that
affect the whole immune system. Biomedical products are aimed at particular parts of the
immune system. Biomedical products used for treating psoriasis work by blocking the action
of a particular type of immune cells; the T-cells. They do this by blocking the immune system
protein tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) or interleukin 12 and 23.
Topical (local) treatment
This kind of treatment means prescribing medications that normalize cellular overgrowth and
reducing inflammation for the affected areas. The most commonly used medications are
corticosteroids (hormones). Vitamin D3 and vitamin A (retinoids) are also used.
Phototherapy or light treatment.
some of the methods are worth paying attention and after consultation with the physician
can be successfully applied in psoriasis treatment.
One of alternative and very effective treatment methods is the use of herbs and plant
extracts.
Before taking any herbal medicine for your psoriasis please consult your physician. Some
herbal medicines can have a harmful interaction with your usual drugs. Aside from this, you
cant take some herbal medicines if you are pregnant, lactating, or if you have diseases like
diabetes, high blood pressure, psycho-emotional disorders.
Israeli professional laboratory ONmacabim has developed a conceptually new
approach to psoriasis treatment.
Two new medications called PS MED REGULAR CREAM and PS MED FORTE CREAM have
been developed specially for reducing and sometimes the complete removal of psoriasis and
atopic dermatitis. These two medications are intended for external application and consist of
a group of ingredients that have centuries-old record in treating skin with psoriasis.
The first group of ingredients are oils. They soften, moisturize, and recover skin (olive, sesame,
grapefruit seed, jojoba, wheat germs, almond, Shea, primrose, castor, lemon, tea tree,
lavender, rosemary, pine, sea buckthorn, and chamomile oils). Tea tree, pine, rosemary oils
have antiseptic, recovering, disinfecting, and anti-inflammation properties. Peppermint, and
camphor oils have refreshing, tonic effects.
Application: apply the first or the second medication to problem areas at least twice a
day. The FORTE cream has been developed for graver psoriasis cases.
PS MED C.P.R.
Intensive agent for Couperosis and Rosacea PS MED C.P.R.
The new development of the laboratory ON Macabim, Israel is intended for the intensive
treatment of skin with Couperosis and rosacea symptoms. Hamamelis, chamomile, hollyhock,
plantain, aloe, camellia, marigold work together to effectively sooth skin, and reduce
reddening directly after applying the medication. One of the main active ingredients is
bioflavonoid Tiliroside, which belongs to a huge group of plant metabolites whose valuable
properties have been known for centuries. In nature, Tiliroside is found in the coat of young
leaves of some plant species. Various tests have confirmed that the Tiliroside medication
reduces visible reddening (capillary visibility). Studies have also shown that Tiliroside
decreases the level of other harmful substances, such as KaKTNF-alpha and interleukin-12
related to inflammation. The ability to inhibit histamine release makes Tiliroside a powerful
cosmetic ingredient for all types of skin with high reactivity.
Horse chestnut extract has anti-inflammation and anti-edema action, improves microcirculation in the strengthening of blood vessel walls, and activates removal of liquid from
hypoderm. Immortelle removes inflammation. It is recommended for treating skin diseases
and irritations. It removes itching, reddening, and peeling. It also helps remove bruises from
the skin. It is useful for relieving pain and reddening after sunburns. Troxerutin has venotonic,
angio-protective, anti-inflammation, anti-edema, and antioxidant action.
Cypress oil, being a natural fragrance, is an anti-histamine (relieves itching, nettle rash) and is
effectively used for improving couperosis and varicosis states. A selection of oils (jojoba,
borage, grape seed, flaxseed, Shea, eucalyptus, lavender, sea buckthorn) intensely softens,
moisturizes, recovers skin, improves its look, fights the first signs of photo and chrono aging,
as well as restores hydrolipid barrier.
Ingredients: Olive, chamomile, hamamelis, rosemary extracts, wheat germs, evening primrose, aloe vera oils, jojoba
oil, lactic acid, plantain, hollyhock extracts, vitamin E, panthenol, nettle extract, allantoin, tutsan, chamomile, sow-foot,
althea, milfoil, sage extracts, myrrh, tea tree, orange, mineral oils.
