Introduction
Waste management problems is caused by many factors. It starts with as small
as a subdivision waste disposal management problem to a community problem leading
to a local government unit issue. Waste management is the collection, transportation,
and disposal of garbage,

all processes and resources for

from maintenance of

and dumping facilities to compliance with health codes and environmental regulations.
Waste management has become a problem in the society because of two main
reasons:
1. People are not educated enough on how to dispose their garbage or;
2. Maintaining proper waste disposal is not effective even with the laws
regarding proper waste disposal.
Local government units always have an ordinance regarding waste disposal
however, in some places, the implementation is too little to be seen as effective.
Though in places like subdivision and exclusive villages, regular collection and proper
disposal of solid wastes is well-exercised.
It has become a national problem because improper disposal of solid wastes is
one of the reasons for calamities like flooding. In places near rivers and other solid
waste-polluted bodies of water, flooding is expected whenever theres a heavy rainfall.
Programs
1. Segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste in every
community managed by the LGU.
2. Dumping site allocation for the wastes.
3. Community cleaning for the water ways and esteros.

Insights

The government programs in terms of proper waste management is not

effective. In terms of waste segregation of the non-biodegradable to the biodegradable
waste was not fully achieve. The proper management of the LGU must me strengthen
more and the discipline of the people must exist if not so it wouldnt be effective. Second
is the dumped site of the wastes, because of the out growing population there are more
waste that needs to be thrown properly. The existence of a large amount of waste
causes more land conservation to serve as an dumping sit, causing the productivity of
the land to be lessen and creates a another problem. Lastly the community cleaning for
the water ways and esteros even though it can give solution to the flooding problem
but it is only on the short run. The garbage being made by the people keeps on clogging
the water ways which is the root cause of the problem.
