Kidney and Bladder


Kidney
Kidney suffers no excess! It is the root of the body.
Pathologies of Kidney are more often chronic than acute and as such alleviation of symptoms will be
relatively slow. Pathologies of the Kidney often manifest as:

dysfunction in storing essence

disturbance in water metabolism

abnormality in growth, development and reproduction

Kidney Qi Deficiency

Kidney Yang Deficiency

Frequent micturation with clear urine


Kidney failing to hold firm.
Or in western speak:
Dribbling of urine after urination
Enuresis (bed wetting)
Soreness and weakness of the lumbar region and knee joints
In women
Clear, cold leukorrhea
(whitish or yellowish vaginal discharge)
Threatened abortion
In men
Spermatorrhea
Premature ejaculation
Tongue: pale with white coat
Pulse: deep and weak. Root will be weak.
Pallor or blackish complexion
Cold limbs
Soreness and weakness of lumbar region and knee joints
Impotence
Infertility
Dizziness (because yang qi cant go up to support the head)
Early morning or 5 oclock diarrhea, esp in colder weather
Edema
Tongue: pale and swollen with white coat
Pulse: deep, weak, probably slow

Kidney Yin Deficiency

Kidney Essence Defic.

Failure of Kidney to
Receive Qi

(think asthma)

Dizziness
Tinnitus (probably small sound, high pitch)
Soreness and weakness of lumbar region and knee joints
Nocturnal emissions
Irregular menstruation
Typical yin deficiency symptoms
Dryness of the mouth
Afternoon fever
Malar flush
Night sweating
Yellow urine
Constipation
Tongue: red with little coating
Pulse: thready, rapid
In Children:
Delayed growth
Dwarfism
Mental retardation
In Adults:
Sperm defects
Male and female infertility
Amenorrhea
Senilism (i.e., premature baldness)
Tinnitus
Deafness
Poor memory
Tongue: red with white coat
Pulse: thready and weak
Soreness and weakness of the lumbar regions and knee joints
Shortness of breath, possibly cough
Easy exhale, difficult inhale, aggrivated by exercise
Feeble voice (qi deficiency)
Fatigue (qi deficiency)
Spontaneous sweating (qi deficiency)
Tongue: slightly pale, white coating
Pulse: deep and weak

Bladder
Damp heat in the Bladder Heat pushing the urine forward causing:
Frequency and urgency of urination
Dribbling urination
Discontinuation of urination in midstream
(most frequent cause of
,Burning pain (heat) in urethra and during urination
Lin Zheng painful
Urine is dark yellow, possibly hematuria or stones
urination)
(stream of urine will often stop midstream as the stone moves
down, change position and resumes as stone moves on. Hurts!)
Lower abdominal distention
Other symptoms:
Fever
Lumbar pain
Painful urination
Inflammation
Tongue: yellow greasy (heat plus dampness) coating
Pulse: rapid (heat)
