FastPath QoS Dashboard

FastPath QoS Dashboard

At the highest level, Quality of Service (QoS) may be evaluated in
terms of Accessibility, Retainability and Performance. The assessment of these categories provides the basis for Iris Performance Intelligences FastPath QoS Dashboard module.

Users can customize the KQIs and KPIs used to evaluate specific QoS
Categories for a given service. While standard applications like Web Browsing
are automatically defined, a flexible application modeling framework supports
the creation of differentiated services based on a combination of parameters.

Accessibility: Can the customer access the service?

Retainability: Once the customer is using the service, can
they continue to use it or has service been dropped?
Integrity and Performance: What is the actual/real-life service
performance when customers are using it?

Designed to accelerate the identification and resolution of

service-affecting issues, FastPaths top-level dashboards deliver
immediate and visual notification of degrading performance for
specific high-value services as reported by network entities in
alarm for QoS threshold violations.
Once a violation is detected, any performance degradation may
be localized to a specific node for root cause analysis within just
a few clicks.

Proactive Network and Group Analysis

As a complement to FastPath, Iris Performance Intelligence also
supports network entity-based assessments with the Proactive
Network Analysis tool. Using this module, operators can flexibly
explore multiple paths originating from a top N list of poorlyperforming nodes or node groups for a given service and period
of time.

With FastPath, users can drill from top-level QoS Category violations to
analyze service KPIs and related entity performanceenabling a triage
approach to resolution efforts.

Extended visibility with subscriber grouping enables

proactive identification of poor performance impacting high
value accounts and inbound roamers.

With success/failure ratios reported within the context of overall

session volumes, operators can easily triangulate on the areas
where improvements will provide the most impact.

Historical Reporting Capabilities

In terms of reporting capabilities, Iris Performance Intelligence
offers basic pre-canned options as well as more advanced,
report authoring capabilities.
For basic reporting needs, Management Reports deliver plugand-play value with out-of-the-box filter-driven templates and
flexible output and delivery options.
From service analysis dashlets, users can access KPIs and response code
information for poor-performing entities with direct drill-down to failed
session records and cross-launch of Iris Session Analyzer.

Performance Analytics

Available reports may be scheduled for automatic and

ongoing generation and distribution to interested parties.

For more in-depth analysis, Query Reporting allows for

additional flexibility and the combination of available KPIs and
dimensions for supported interfaces.

Differentiated Services: Modeling Example

Users can customize the success and failure classification by protocol

based on mapped release causes. These ratios are reported in 5-minute
intervals against a backdrop depicting overall session volumeproviding
reliable context for at-a-glance severity assessment.

Application Modeling Delivers Flexibility

Iris Performance Intelligence enables the monitoring of an
operators highest-value services and user groups. Leveraging a
model-driven framework, the solution provides off-the-shelf
support for a number of standard portfolio offerings (Data, Web
Browsing, MMS and Email) as well as the means to create
custom, differentiated services (including emergency and other
dialed services) as required.

For standard service offerings,QoS categories are

automatically defined with a unique combination of
KPIs/KQIs and associated network entities by which
performance degradation will be tracked.

Drill-through and direct access to failed data record logs provides users
with concrete information regarding specific KPI failures. These records
serve as the launch point for linked session analysis capabilities when
further troubleshooting is required for resolution.

Management Reports

Additional services may also be created through the

association of standard offerings with specific elements and their
dimensions.

Differentiated services can be linked to URLs, IP

Addresses and Port Numbers (application servers/nodes),
Application Protocols (based on UDP/TCP port number),
APNs, Handset Types, Signaling Protocols, Called Numbers,
to URI (SIP) and Advanced Application Classification/Deep
Packet Classification signatures.

Filter-driven templates provide on-demand access to performance views as

well as automatic scheduled generation and distribution output options for
streamlined communications with geographically diverse performance teams.

KQI Customization Enables Swift Implementation

of New Parameters
While a standard set of domain-specific KQIs provide out-of-the box assessment of
voice and data service performance, users may also leverage raw metrics directly from
source data records to create new KQIs. Using mathematical expressions, custom
KQIs are easily configured for immediate use with application modules.
Supporting the inclusion and combination of available raw metrics and defined KQIs,
the Iris Performance Intelligence Application allows for the creation of KQIs across
different protocols, services and QoS categories.
