Step 1
- Get the proper probe and supplies.

Step 2
- Transverse orientation of the probe at the superior pole of
the thyroid cartilage.
- Identify classic landmarks : internal jugular (IJ), carotid artery
(CA) and sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle.
- Slide lateral and identify the fascial plane just below the SCM
muscle and above the levator scapulae muscle (LSM) that
contains the superficial cervical plexus.

Step 3
- In-plane needle visualization.
- Lateral to medial approach with slow injection of anesthetic in
the fascial plane (between the SCM and LSM).
