INTRODUCTION
Scooters India Limited (SIL) A Govt. of India Enterprise under Ministry of HI & PE
at Lucknow is Automobile Industry manufacturing 3-wheeler with brand name
VIKRAM .
It is a totally integrated automobile plant, engaged in designing, developing, manufacturing
and marketing a broad spectrum of conventional and non-conventional fuel driven 3wheelers.
Companys plant owes its origin to M/s. Innocenti of Italy from which it bought over the
plant and machinery, design, documentation, copyright etc. The company also possesses
the world right of the trade name LAMBRETTA / LAMBRO.
In 1975, company started its commercial production of Scooters under the brand name of
Vijai Super for domestic market and Lambretta for overseas market. It added one more
wheel to its product range and introduced three wheelers under the brand name of
VIKRAM/LAMBRO. However, in 1997, strategically, the company discontinued its twowheeler production and concentrated only on manufacturing and marketing of 3 wheelers.
These three wheelers have become more relevant in the present socio-economic
environment as it transports goods and passengers at least cost.
The company has its own marketing network of Regional Sales Offices all over India,
catering to customers requirements in the areas of sales and services.
Scooters India Limited makes various & versatile types of three wheelers: Vikram
450D,Vikram 1000CGVikram 750D, Vikram 1500CG.
The products have a high payload capacity and efficiency. These are specially designed and
developed for local transportation. However, the generation of Vikram run successfully in
different countries also. Our product is very demanding in various countries all over the
world . Germany, Italy, Sudan, Nigeria, Nepal, Bangladesh are few of the countries. For

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
It is desired to develop the New Diesel, CNG and LPG Engine for our Product to curtail the
market need of cheaper transportation need.
(i) Development of improved technology (ies) for the latest engine technology.
(ii) Improved fuel consumption (fuel cost), lube oil consumption, horse power, (break
specific) power output, mean time between failures (MTBF), maintenance and overhaul
requirements.
(iii) Reduced life cycle costs (prolonged service life).
(iv) Suitability for all fuel qualities.
(v) Development of indigenous parts/sub-assemblies/components.
(vi) Improved reliability of the engine.
In regard to matters relating to the security and integrity of the Company or country,
any charge sheet by any agency of the government/ conviction by a court of law for
an offence committed by the company or any sister concern of the company would
result in disqualification. The decision in regard to the relationship between the
sister concerns would be taken by SIL, based on the relevant facts and after
examining whether the two concerns are substantially controlled by the same person
/ persons.
(b)
In regard to matters other than security and integrity of the company, any
conviction by a court of law or indictment / adverse order by a regulatory authority
against the company or against any sister concern which relates to a grave offence,
or would constitute qualification. Grave offence is defined to be of such a nature
that it outrages the moral sense of the community. The decision in regard to the
nature of the offence would be taken on case to case basis after considering the facts
of the case and relevant legal principals by SIL.

SUBJECT: REQUIREMENT OF DIESEL ENGINE FOR SMALL & BIG PLATFORM VEHICLE OF VIKRAM
3- WHEELER FOR COMMERCIAL APPLICATION
Engine required for SIL make Vehicle to conform, to all applicable rules as per CMVR for L5M/L5N category of
vehicles. To ensure the vehicle performance in terms of fuel efficiency, load carrying capacity, acceleration,
ruggedness, stability, reliability etc should be at par with similar model available in the market.
The indicative technical specifications for the Engines are given as below with remarks:

Feasibility of adoption of the engine will have to be established on basis of factors like
direction of rotation of crankshaft, engine envelop, engine mounting arrangement, overall
vehicle performance etc.

VIKRAM 3- WHEELER FOR COMMERCIAL APPLICATION CNG model
Gasoline Engine required for SIL CNG Vehicle models to conform to all applicable rules as per CMVR for
L5M/L5N category of vehicles. To ensure the vehicle performance in terms of fuel efficiency, load carrying
capacity, acceleration, ruggedness, stability, reliability etc should be at par with similar model available in the
market.
