SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces must be clean, dry and dust free before painting.
NEW WORK
Concrete/Cement
Rough surfaces should be filled using a Fillercoat such as DULUX TRADE FILLERCOAT
Fibre Cement
Thin first coat up to 10 percent with water to aid penetration. For ceiling boards, spot prime bare metal areas, e.g.
nail heads with DULUX TRADE STEEL PRIMER. Apply 2 coats of DULUX TRADE 100 MATT directly.
Galvanised Iron
Clean with GALVKLEEN and flush with water. Prime with one coat DULUX TRADE CORROCOTE 1. Follow
with DULUX TRADE UNIVERSAL UNDERCOAT.
Ferrous Surfaces (Iron and Steel)
Loose surface rust may be removed by wire brushing. Prime with one or two coats DULUX TRADE STEEL
PRIMER depending on the severity of the conditions, i.e. apply two coats at the coast. Follow with DULUX
TRADE UNIVERSAL UNDERCOAT.
PVC Gutters/Downpipes
Degrease, sand and apply directly.
Wooden Surfaces (Doors)
Timber surfaces can be primed with DULUX SUPERGRIP ALL-SURFACE PRIMER to give a complete water
based system.
Gypsum plaster
Prime with DULUX TRADE A/R PLASTER PRIMER
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: Surface must be in sound condition. Loose flaking paint and
efflorescence must be completely removed and any bare metal areas, e.g. nail heads, spot primed with an appropriate
primer. Old enamel or oil paint surfaces must be well sanded. Chalked PVA or other powdery surface must be well
sanded and sealed with DULUX TRADE A/R PLASTER PRIMER
TOPCOATING: For new work or a change in colour, apply two coats. Apply one coat for general maintenance
painting.
PRECAUTIONS

For detailed safety information refer to Material Safety Data Sheet M385-0730

Do not apply to bare unprimed metal surfaces. This is essentially a wall coating.

If walls that are to be painted have been repaired with crack fillers, it is essential to apply a coat of DULUX
TRADE A/R PLASTER PRIMER over the repaired areas, once the crack filler has dried properly. Failure
to do this will result in uneven sheen levels between the repaired and normal areas.

Do not paint during wet or cold (below 10 C) weather.

Drying times will be extended during cold, wet or very humid weather conditions.

FLASH POINT
Non flammable.
