Name

Functions/ Description

Ruler

Used to measure distances or to rule

straight lines. The ruler is
a straightedge which may also
contain calibrated lines to measure
distances.

Meter Stick

A measuring stick one meter long

that is marked off in centimeters and
usually millimeters

Steel Tape/ Measure

Tape

Triple Beam Balance

Spring Balance

A flexible ruler. Its design allows

for a measure of great length to be
easily carried in pocket or toolkit
and permits one to measure around
curves or corners.

Measures the mass and not the

weight of an object. It doesn't rely
on gravitational force.

A device in which an object is to

be made is attached to the end of
a helical spring, the extension of
which indicates the weight of the
object on a calibrated scale.

Name

Functions/Description

Top Loading Balance

A digital instrument that is used

to measure the mass of an object.
It consists of a metal plate to
place the object and a digital
read out the measures in the S.I.
unit gram.

Vernier Caliper

Micrometer Caliper

Measurement Set

Set of Masses

Dynamics Cart

Dynamics Track

A precision instrument that can

be used to measure internal and
external distances extremely
accurately.

Measures the thickness or the

diameter of relatively small
parts; it produces finer results
than a vernier caliper.

A set of measuring materials that

determines the value of some
quantity in terms of a standard
unit.

Comes in different weight and

types that helps in weight
determination

Used to demonstrate the laws of

dynamics.

Used in investigating a wide

range of concepts in physics,
including Newton's Laws,
collisions, velocity and
acceleration.

Drawing

Name
Xplorer GLX

Functions/Description
A portable graphing data logger,
perfect for real-time data collection
and analysis in the classroom or in
the field. Provides convenient and
powerful data collection, display and
analysis -- even without a computer

Force Sensor

Can measure force between almost

any two surfaces and are durable
enough to stand up to most
environments.

Force Table

Designed for force and vector

demonstrations. Consists of 4
pulleys, 4 weight hangers and 4sets
of slotted weights

Mass Hanger

Helps in creating any desired

amount of mass An instrument used
in measuring weights and used in
hanging different objects.

Super Pulley

Main function is to change

the direction of the tension force in
a rope. It also lessens the amount of
force we will exert.

Protractor
Used for measuring angles in
degrees.

Digital Adapter

Drawing

Required when photogates, timing

and counting sensors are used with
any PASPORT interface. Allows you
to connect old ULI digital sensors
(photogates, radiation monitors, etc.)

Name

Functions/Description

Projectile Launcher

Illustrates the idea that motion

indifferent dimensions is absolutely
independent, and used to describe
the exact motion of the projectile as
well

Picket Fence

The free falling object. It is often

used in experiment of Newtons second
law of motion.

Photogate Head

Monitors the motion of objects

passing through its gate, counting
events as the object breaks the
infrared beam.

Universal Table Clamp

Used to hold light objects and to

secure the position of the object

Tape Timer

Act as clocks or stop watches. They

make individual "tic" marks on the
paper tape at regular time intervals
as the tape is pulled through the
device.

Paper Tape

A narrow paper tape which can be

passed through printing devices that
place symbols ranging from simple
dots to alpha-numeric symbols.

Photogate Port

A port attached to the photogate

Time of Flight Accessory

Angle Indicator

Designed primarily for free fall

or projectile experiments. Once
the object hits its plate, it will
send a signal to the photogate to
stop the timer.

Helps you find the exact angle

measurement.

Motion Sensor
A device that detects moving
objects, particularly people.

Friction Block

Friction Board

Develops the relationship between

the surface smoothness and the force
of friction, static and kinetic friction,
coefficient of friction and the
equations for sliding friction.

A heavy compressed impregnated

solid board used for making
pulleys usually by cutting.

Equal Arm Balance

A balance in which the distances
from the point of support of the
balance-arm beam to the two pans at
the end of the beam are equal.

UCM Kit
A kit that determines the motion of
an object in a circle at a constant
speed
