Mount Abu

The only hiss station of Rajasthan, Mount Abu, is a pilgrimage site that once was once an
important place for worship among the sages and saints. This temple town is famous for
housing the incredulous Dilwara Jain temples. Some other places to be seen here are
Gaumukh Temple, Adhar Devi Temple, Shri Ranghunathji Temple, Sunset and Honeymoon
Point and the Nakki Talab.
A not be missed activity in Mounth Abu is the boat cruise on the sparkling waters of the
Nakki Lake. The rock formations (shaped like human and animal forms) around the lake are

When To Go
The climate of Mount Abu is quite cool and can be visited all through the year.
Winters (November to February) has a maximum temperature of 29C and a minimum of about 12C. This season is
best for taking up honeymoon packages in Mount Abu. The weather is perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities as
well.
Summers (April to June) the temperature touches maximum level of 33C and a minimum of 23C. Weather remains
pleasant in daytime while nighttime can be cool. This period is ideal for tourist visits.
Monsoons (July to September) receives an average rainfall of 70 180 cm. Weather during this season is moderate and
natural beauty is in its prime. It is a favorable time for tourism in Mount Abu. Lush greenery, waterfalls and mountain mist

Bus
Government buses run throughout the state of Rajasthan and you can opt for these in case you are looking for cheap
travel. Buses in Mount Abu are not all that comfortable, and bus fares will normally range around Rs 10 to 20 in the region.

Taxi
Taxis will be available from the foothills and you can opt for one for charges of around Rs 200 to 300. This is a safe way to
travel through the region.

Rented Motorcycle
You can either rent a motorcycle or bike, or take up the local government-run buses while traveling to Mount Abu. These
are the two major modes of travel present in the region. You can also rent out a car or you can opt for a cab ride from one
of the nearby cities like Jaipur or Jodhpur.
Renting out a bike or a motorcycle is the best option that you can go for while travelling to Mount Abu, as this way you can
take in the sheer beauty of nature in the region and can also travel comfortably to any location you want at your own
leisure. Renting out a bike will cost you around Rs 250 to 400.

Dilwara Temples

Dilwara temples, exquisite marvelous temples dating back to 11th century to 13th centuries AD, are a
group of five legendary Jain temples. These temples are carved out of superb white marbles and have
monumental attractions. Vimal Vasahi temple built in 1031 AD by Vimal Shah is the first in order and is
devoted to the first Jain Tirthankaras. One another famous temple in this complex is Lun Vasahi temple
built by Jain brothers Tejpal and Vastupal in 1231 AD. The attractively ornamented doorways, ceilings
and panels make these temples simply majestic.
The temples impress the visitors with its simple beauty, glossy appearance, delicate style and master craft of Jain
architecture mixed with mewar style of constructions. The temples are adorned with many sculptures and inscriptions as
well. The temples are now the major Jain religious attraction in the state of Rajasthan.

Achalgarh

Achalgarh is an imposing cute village nearby Rajmachi. This exquisite location is renowned for two major attractions the
Achalgarh fort and the Achaleshwar Mahadeo placed interior to the fort.
Achalgarh fort, built by Rana Kumbha of Mewar Dynasty during the 14th century temple, is built for watching the
movements of enemies and also to have a watch over the surrounding places. The fort with a semicircular arch at the
entrance encloses many temples including 15th century Achaleswar Mahadev Temple and 16th century Kantinath temple.
The Achaleshwar Mahadeo temple is a renowned pilgrim center with the prime deity as Lord Shiva. It is believed that the
footprint on the holy rock nearby is of Lord Shiva. The temple encloses a beautiful structure of Nandi and also three large
stone buffalos. Achalgarh is attractive for any kinds of tourists who wish to spend the vacation and weekends in the rural
villages of India.

Adhar Devi Temple

Adhar Devi temple with Goddess Durga as the presiding deity is built on a peak in the northern side of Mount Abu. The
major attraction is the large number of steep steps to reach the temple premises. There were about 365 steps, each
represent a day, to cover for reaching the sacred location of Goddess Durga. The temple is built under the rock and
devotees have to take a bend to cross the temple entry. The temple is one of the main pilgrimage locations in Mount Abu.

Doodh Baori

Doodh Baori is a well located at the foot step of the Adhar Devi temple. Doodh Baori is considered as a sacred well with
milk colored water. It is believed that this well is the main source of milk for the heavenly world, for gods and goddesses. It
is believed that the water in the well has many miraculous powers. May people offer prayers at this well considering it as
Kamadhenu. The view of the temple from the premises of Doodh Baori looks like a small tower at the pinnacle of the
mount.

Guru Shikhar

Guru Shikhar, Mount Abus highest mountain peak, is located at an altitude of about 1,722 meters above sea level in Mount
Abu. The adventurous trek can take the tourist to the top of the peak. One can get eye catching panoramic view of
surrounding sylvan region. The cool climate and serene environments make the peak a much sought place for seclusion.
An ancient temple dedicated to Guru Dattatreya, the incarnation of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. There are

Nakki Lake

Nakki Lake is a very popular tourist attraction in Mount Abu. The Lake is known for its calm and cool
atmosphere and set in the backdrop of picturesque hills. This has been credited as the only artificial lake
in India at the height of more than 1200 meters. The legendary folk stories claim that the lake is carved
out of rocks by Gods just using the nails.

about 290 square kilometer. It is situated at north eastern side of Mount Abu. The highest peak Guru Shikhar in the Aravalli
mountain ranges is situated in the region of the Sanctuary.
This sanctuary is a natural habitat of many species of wild animals and birds fauna. The flora and fauna of these wild
forests are very attractive and mind blogging for nature lovers and animal and bird lovers. The sanctuary offers shelter to
many animals like bears, foxes, wild boar, panthers and sambar deer. It also has varieties of birds including the rare grey
jungle fowls.

Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University is located at Mount Abu in the backdrop of picturesque scenic hilly regions and dense
greenish forests. The university is run by Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization.
Brahma Kumaris is a spiritual organization founded in 1936 with an objective of universal peace and tranquility. The
university is aimed at encouraging and facilitating the universal love, perfect attitudes, lifestyles and spiritual awareness.
The University offers various courses in spirituality, Yoga and meditation.
A unique museum aimed at promoting the spiritual life is also functioning in the museum. The museum timings for public is
from 8 am to 8 pm.

Datda Sea World


Located on the road leading to Dilwara Temple in Mount Abu, Datda Sea World is considered to be the largest aquarium in
India. It has a wide collection of fishes and sea shells. Featuring variety of fishes imported from different countries like
Singapore, Netherlands, US, Kenya and many other countries, this aquarium has become one of the attractions in Mount
Abu drawing many visitors.
The aquarium also houses a seashell museum that has more than 10,000 shells, which are of different varieties in shapes
and sizes. With colorful fishes and varieties of seashells, this aquarium is worthy of visiting.

Shri Raghunathji Temple


Shri Raghunathji Temple is located on the Shore of Nakki Lake in Mount Abu. It is believed that the temple is constructed
way back in 14th century by a scholarly Hindu protagonist, Shri Ramanand. The idol of Shri Raghunathji enshrining the
temple is highly attractive. The temple stands as a rich heritage of century old Mewar culture. This is an ideal location for
Hindu religious devotees to pay a purposeful visit.
