TEF is currently seeking a motivated, dedicated and qualified candidate to fill the following position.
Job Title: Academic Coordinator (KKEC)
Job Location: Yangon, Myanmar
Reports To: Senior Program Manager (CD)
Duration: 1 year (extendable)

About the Kant Kaw Education Center (KKEC)
The aim of the Kant Kaw Education Center (KKEC) is to build the capacity of committed individuals
working for positive change in Myanmar through the provision of courses that will prepare and qualify
them to pursue high quality tertiary education programs in the Asian region. Kant Kaw has extensive
links to universities and scholarship programs within the region that ensure that successful graduates
are well placed to pursue their academic goals.
The schools brand new full-time intensive program: Community Leadership and Social Studies
(CLASS) focuses on general and academic English, social studies and global issues, and academic
skills, including basic computing and critical thinking. The programs Service learning is emphasized
throughout the curriculum and students are given ample opportunity to provide direct service to their
communities while finding space to learn, question and grow in their knowledge, skills and attitudes.
The KKECs daytime intensive residential program supports students from rural communities to
relocate to Yangon and pursue intensive studies at the school.
KKEC also has Evening & Weekend Professional Programs (EPP) offering courses for professional
development in various sectors including business and as well as courses in general and academic English
and test preparation (TOEFL/IELTS).
Job Purpose
The KKEC Academic Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation of the all KKEC academic
activities and for ensuring that programs objectives and quality are met.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Management & Administration
Coordinate with teachers and participate in the development and update of curriculum, syllabi,
Lesson plans, learning materials and academic programs;
Coordinate, supervise and provide support to KKEC academic staff/volunteers;
Conduct performance assessment and appraisal of KKEC academic staff;
Work with KKEC School Manager and staff and network partners to determine the academic calendar
And classes schedule;
Work with KKEC School Manager to design students applications and conduct the selection
Develop and monitor the implementation of a comprehensive students assessment and evaluation
System (diagnostics, entry, progress and achievements test and examinations);
Develop and manage comprehensive academic support program;
Provide guidance to students on academic goals and educational issues;
Work with teachers and Director of Programs (KKEC & CD), address students' behavioral, academic,
And other problems;
Participate actively in the implementation of KKEC Monitoring and Evaluation;
Liaise with the KKEC School Manager on matters relating to resources for academic purposes; and
Assists in recruiting, hiring, orienting, and training KKEC academic staff/volunteers.
Teaching, curriculum and learning materials development
Teach CLASS intensive students (for at least 6 hours per week) and may need to teach classes as
Assigned with TEF expansion in Yangon and Mandalay Universities;
In consultation with all academic staff and Senior Program Manager (SPM-CD) , develop and update
KKEC programs curriculum (syllabi, M&E, assessment, materials, service learning placement),
Including for evening and weekend programs;
Develop learning and teaching materials for KKEC, as assigned; and
Assist in the inventory, ordering and distribution of learning materials.
Reporting/Communication
Produce annual, quarterly and monthly reports to the Programs Director and Senior Program
Manager (SPM-CD) on activities and events related to academic part of the KKEC;
Take part in strategic planning and contribute to the proposal writing;
Explore possible networks with community partners to develop and extend the CLASS-Residential
Program;
Hold weekly meetings with academic staff and the SPM-CD.
Safety and Security
Share responsibility with administrative and KKEC program staff for student safety and security.

Experience, qualifications and attributes


The ideal candidate should have the following:
Minimum three years relevant work experience;
At least a University Degree in a field related to the post (education, teaching, instructional
Design, etc.), Masters degree is preferable;
Certificates in curriculum and/or learning materials development, teaching and training will be
an advantage;
Experience in managing academic programs and staff is an advantage;
Fluent spoken and written English;
Experience in developing and adapting curricula and learning materials;
Experience teaching English as a foreign language to young adults and adults at a pre-intermediate
level or above. Experience teaching IELTS and social studies is an advantage;
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills ;
Willingness to work overtime as the situation demands;
Knowledge of Myanmar context and its educational realities
Experience working in multi-cultural environments; and
Experience in utilizing computer (word, excel, InDesign etc.)
