A NEW ZCT PRECODED OFDM SYSTEM WITH PULSESHAPING: PAPR

ANALYSIS
SYNOPSIS
ABSTRACT:
This project deals the Peak to Average Power Ratio(PAPR) improvements in various
precoding based Orthogonal Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In particular, the Zad offChu matrix Transform (ZCT) precoder based PAPR reduction technique is analyzed. The ZCTs
are obtained from Zad off-Chu (ZC) sequences by filling ZC Tkernel row-wise or alternatively
column wise. Row wise fillinggives rise to Constant Envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM) systemwith0
dB PAPR, while column wise filling give rise 7.8 dB, at clip rate of 10-3 with system subcarriers
for QPSK modulation.
However, since even CE-OFDM systems are required to operate with pulse shaping that
helps in keepingout-of-band radiation low and meeting the transmissionspectrum mask
requirement, the PAPRs are no longer 0 dB.Therefore, in this paper, we present PAPR analysis of
variousprecoding based OFDM systems with the popular Root RaisedCosine (RRC) pulse
shaping. Simulation results show that, theZCT Row-wise precoder based OFDM (ZCT-ROFDM) systemhas lower PAPR than the ZCT Column-wise precoder basedOFDM (ZCT-COFDM) system, the Hadamard Transformprecoder based OFDM (WHT-OFDM) systems and
theOFDM systems.

INTRODUCTION:
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a multicarrier transmission
scheme that has become the technology of choice for next generation wireless and wireline
digital ommunication systems because of its highspeed data rates, high spectral efficiency, high
quality serviceand robustness against narrow band interference and
frequency selective fading .
.OFDM thwarts Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) by inserting
a Guard Interval (GI) using a Cyclic Prefix (CP) andmoderates the frequency selectivity of the
Multi Path (MP)channel with a simple equalizer . OFDM is widelyadopted in various
communication standards like Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting
DVB), and even in the beyond 3G Wide Area Networks (WAN) etc. However, among others, the
Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is still one of the major drawbacks in
T he transmitted OFDM signal . A large number of PAPRreduction techniques have been
proposed in the literature . The precoding based techniques, however, show greatpromise as they
are simple linear techniques to implementwithout the need of any side information.
Applications:
1. 3G Wide Area Networks.
2. wireline digital communication systems
3. frequency variations of the communicationchannel
