Amadeus Fares and Pricing is a computerized air travel pricing system. Its
database stores millions of public and private fares for hundreds of different
providers. The Fares and Pricing system can construct an unlimited number of
fares through the dynamic add-on processing facility.
There are five main features in Amadeus Fares and Pricing:
Fare Displays
Informative Pricing
Itinerary Pricing
Amadeus receives fares data from different suppliers. For more information, see
GG ASK FQT FDL.

The following tables present the Fare Quote and Itinerary Pricing entries, and
show whether a PNR is required, and whether each entry is a main entry or a
follow-up entry. For the Itinerary Pricing, Amadeus Best Pricer and Amadeus
Value Pricer entries, the table indicates whether the entry creates a TST or not.
For more information about a specific entry, enter HE followed by the three-letter

Fare Displays

The fare display in Amadeus shows published fares based on the options
contained in your entry. You can use options to specify airlines, dates, booking
codes, and global routings, and to exclude default taxes. You can also request
displays where the fares are sorted from lowest to highest, or highest to lowest,
or according to whether the displays show one-way or round trip fares. Further
sorting is made according to whether fare types and expanded parameters are
used. You can change displays very easily when you begin your search for fares
with a wide selection, then narrow the search.
A list of airlines that have fares for this route if no common (YY) fares exist.
If nothing is specified, the system defaults to the current date and the currency of
the origin city.

The US and Canadian domestic airline-specific display sorts the fares from
highest to lowest, with the routing numbers displayed at the right hand side of the
screen.
A US and Canadian display does not include the global indicator, or the MPM
(Maximum Permitted Mileage), or TPM (Ticketed Point Mileage). The fares are
based on routings.
There are two things to notice in this display:
1. The system appends the letter R after all fares that are round trip.
2. Since all US and Canadian domestic fares are routings, it contains the RTG
column.
By default, all routings used in a US and Canadian fare display are displayed at
the very bottom of the display. For example:
6
NON STOP
Note:
You can find more details about a routing by entering FQR followed by
a line number.

Fare Notes
HE FQN
Fare notes contain the conditions and regulations applicable to a specific fare.
Fare notes are also referred to as fare rules.
Fare notes/rules have a maximum of nine versions, each with a specific effective
and discontinue date. When you request fare notes/rules by line number, the
system displays the note/rule based on the dates in the fare display. If you
require a note/rule for a past date, you must request a fare display for the past
date, and then request the note/rule for the fare based on the line number.
Airline ticketing fees, also called OB fees, are included in the fare displayed.
Depending on your market, if the fare note/rule exceeds nine pages in length, the
system either displays an index with the applicable paragraphs for you to select
from, or a message saying MAX DATA EXCEEDED, RQST BY INDIVIDUAL
RULE CODE.

Routing Information
HE FQR
To the right in a fare display, you can find a column with the letter R, indicating
the fare is governed by a routing. This column can contain two letters:
M Mileage Fare
R Routing Fare
With mileage fares you are limited by a specific amount of mileage. A routing fare
is a published fare, from an origin to a destination city. It indicates exactly which
intermediate points are valid for travel.

Currency Conversion
The Amadeus currency conversion transactions allow you to check exchange
rates and calculate amounts in different currencies. The system converts
amounts based on the rates of exchange for the current date, unless you specify
another date. You can request rates for a past date, for up to 12 months in the
past.
The rates are as follows:
You can use the currency conversion transaction when you are calculating fares
manually, where you need to find the exchange rates between different
currencies and Neutral Units of Construction (NUCs). A NUC is a fictitious
currency, established by IATA as a fare calculating tool.

Informative Pricing
HE FQP
The Informative Pricing transaction FQP is a fare calculation tool, which allows
you to estimate the fare for an itinerary. This is especially useful at times when
you need to find the price for an itinerary, but you are not yet ready to make a
reservation.
You must use airport codes, rather than city codes, so that the system can
calculate the appropriate taxes. You can add options to your entry, and the more
specific you are, the easier it is for the system to target a specific fare. If you
prefer, you can create a mask, and let the system guide you through the different
options. You can calculate discount fares, including cumulative discounts.
The following conditions apply:
You can use FQP for all fares except group fares and air passes.
If you do not enter any specific options to your entry, the system makes the
following assumptions:
The current date for the first segment, and an open date for all the other
segments.
An open booking class. The system displays the lowest possible price for
each class.
YY fares for travel agencies, and carrier specific fares for airlines.
Note:
For Air France users, and its hosted airlines, Amadeus prices itineraries
based on common (YY) fares.
You must specify an airline for markets where no YY fares exist.

Adding Options
You can make your search for fares more narrow and precise by including
options in your entry. Place options that relate to a segment between the city
codes, and options that relate to the whole itinerary at the end of the entry.
See the following entry, which includes several city pairs:
FQP LHR BOM SYD NRT FRA LON
You can customize your request by adding options. You can request specific
airlines, travelling at specific dates, at specific rates, in a specific class, with
surface gaps, at a specific discount and so on. The following example requests
an itinerary starting in London Heathrow, September 14, with BA in F class, via
the EH global route, to Singapore. The trip continues October 18, with SQ in Y
class, via the EH global route to London Heathrow. The requested price is for a
child, and the point of sale is Paris, but point of ticketing is Madrid:

Itinerary Pricing
FXP
FXX
When only one fare is applicable for an itinerary, the system displays a ticket
image, and stores a TST if you are using FXP.
When several fares apply, the system displays a list of fares to choose from.
When there is only one passenger, the system displays a ticket image.
When there are several passengers, the system displays a list of passenger
and fare details.
A fare proposed by the system is valid until you do an end of transaction (ET,
ER).
The link with the Amadeus Fares and Pricing server has a limit of three
minutes. If you are inactive for longer than three minutes, you will be
disconnected. Re-enter a pricing entry.
For selected markets, when the amount of fares offered are equal, carrier
specific fares take precedence over YY fares.
The system prices an itinerary in the currency of the country of origin, and
automatically converts it into the currency of your terminal location when
needed.
When you choose to store a TST, remember that the validity of the TST
varies, depending on your location. The TST validity is decided by each
market individually, and may be minutes, hours, or days.
For information about limitations that apply to round, circle and one-way trips, see
Pricing Journey Type Limitations on page 66.

The pricing unit concept applies to all normal and special fares.
However, the pricing unit concept does not apply to ASEAN extension
fares. ASEAN extension fares are special 'add on' fares for visits to
Asian countries. These must be issued in combination with an
international fare originating inside Traffic Conference 3 (TC3). And the
whole trip must remain within TC3.
You can view the pricing units applied by entering the FQN or FQS follow-up
transaction after pricing. For example:

Zap Off
Use the zap off option to manually apply a discount to an itinerary or a segment.
The discount is applied in the currency of your terminal. The system appends the
ticket designator DISC to the fare basis code, unless you specify something else.
Different fail codes are printed on the ticket, depending on how you use the
option.
You may specify a percentage by adding the indicator P, or an amount by adding
the indicator A. A percentage discount is always applied to the base fare. The
zap off option defaults to either the base fare, or the total fare. Your default option
is controlled by the fare quote profile. If you wish to override the default set for
you, see the following example of the entries:
FXP/ZO-B75P
TTP/ZO-T20A
The segments being priced are not on the same carrier and user wants to
zap off an amount.
When discounting an amount of the total fare, there is more than one fare
component and more than one taxation applies.
Zap Add
The zap add option allows you to add a percentage or amount to the base fare
when pricing. The pricing indicator on the TST is I and the FCMI is 0, but the fare
calculation line includes 'PLUS' followed by the amount that has been added to
indicate that zap add has been used. Any taxes based on a percentage are
calculated on the base fare plus the added amount, except for USLO tax (US
Domestic), which is calculated on the base fare only, and is not applied to the
added amount.
The following restrictions apply:
The targeted fares must be Private Fares (Category 15) available to your
agency.
Your agency must have a commercial agreement with the airline to allow the
zap add function on the airline's fares.
The function must be activated for your office ID - this is done automatically
with the zap off option. To request access to this function, contact your local
Amadeus commercial organization.

User Guide
The system generates a fail code, or fare calculation mode indicator, when you
price or print a ticket with special conditions. These codes are printed on the
ticket, displayed in the ticket image, and stored in the TST. The code can be
either a letter or a number, to indicate how the itinerary was priced.
See HE FCMI for a list of the TST indicators and the entries to create them.
The fail codes are divided into two groups. They are either created by the fare
quote system when you price an itinerary, or by the ticket server when you print a
ticket. Sometimes you may find that you get one code when you price the
itinerary, and another when you print the ticket. Fail codes created by the ticket
server always take precedence.
3158.00
The fail code B is displayed together with information on how the PNR was
priced.
A TST, or transitional stored ticket, is a record containing all the ticketing
information attached to a PNR. The system automatically stores information
requested from the fare server in the TST.

are:

Date
You can enter these elements manually, or, if a PNR is present, the system
automatically retrieves them from the PNR.
The only mandatory element in your entry is the destination. By default, if you
only specify the destination, the system searches for low fares for one adult
passenger on flights departing today from the city associated to your office
profile. For example, if you enter:

and your office is located in London, the system searches by default for low fares
for one adult passenger from London to Paris using todays date and time.
Using the elements you enter, or from the PNR, the system finds up to nine lowfare itineraries, and displays them in a recommendation display.

Market-specific Features
HE FAR, GP OP2
All markets using Amadeus are independent from each other, and may have
specific needs. Amadeus tries to meet these requirements, and sometimes
develops specific functions. Here we give introductory information to some of
these functions indicating where to find more information in the Amadeus Online
Help.

Amadeus Unifares
HE UNIFARES
Amadeus Unifares is a name that Amadeus uses for all its negotiated fare
products, whether they be distribution system products or ATPCO products. For
example, Amadeus Unifares is made up of:

Dynamic Discount
HE DYNAMIC
Amadeus Dynamic Discounted Fares helps you to price your competitive fare
contracts more efficiently for fares that are derived by applying a discount to an
existing published fare.
These fares have been integrated into the Amadeus Fares and Pricing system so
that you can continue to work in the familiar Amadeus environment. Using the
Amadeus Fares and Pricing options, you can display, automatically price, and
ticket these special fares.
In most cases, the rule conditions that apply to the public fare applies to the
discounted fare, but some conditions can vary. The Dynamic Discounted Fares
database contains the exceptions and allows for a waiver paragraph to be added
to the rule for displaying in the fare notes.
To display Dynamic Discounted Fares, use the same entries as for displaying
Unifares. The system response is the regular FQD fare display, except that the F
column appears between the airline and the routing column. The letter U in this
column indicates a Dynamic Discounted Fare. For example:

Security
Security for Private Fares is controlled either by the IATA/ARC number of the
encoded rule. The complete IATA/ARC number must include 7 digits.
In addition, the IATA/ARC number must be included in the NPT field of the
Amadeus Office Profile. This IATA/ARC number is the same one that the Private
Fares were filed with ATPCO.
146
Edition 3.0
Security
Security for the ATPCO Negotiated Fares is added in the fare rule and
establishes who can view, update, sell or redistribute the fare after the data has
been released to Amadeus by ATPCO.
The security element for Amadeus is either based on a specific Amadeus office
identification or a wildcard consisting of the elements in an Amadeus office
identification. This information is recorded in a specific security table attached to
ATPCO Negotiated Fares.
