Farm Road 51 South through Decatur was a bit busier than usual last weekend as the Wise County Antique Auto Club hosted the 33rd annual Decatur Swap Meet at
the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds. Approximately 700 vendors offered automotive wares for the thousands of automobile enthusiasts who attended the three-day event. A
bird’s eye view of the Swap Meet on Saturday demonstrates the scale of the event.

MANAGING ADHD

Parents, caregivers, and teachers

are the best sources for information on
a child’s day-to-day behaviors and the
best chance for a child to receive an
accurate diagnosis of attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Doctors
will begin an assessment of the child by
taking a complete medical and family
history and reviewing report cards and
any previous testing done with the child.
They then meet one-on-one with the
child, though it’s often difficult in these
meetings to witness problem behaviors.
Management of ADHD may include
medication, behavioral intervention, and
other therapies. Ritalin, amphetamines,
non-stimulants, or anti-depressants
may be prescribed, though medication
is not always necessary. Each child is
assessed, and treatment is determined,
according to the severity of symptoms.

Today’s column on ADHD is of special

concern to parents. Speak with an ex-
perienced and compassionate doctor
at LOVETTE PEDIATRICS. We will
evaluate and treat your child based on
his or her health needs and recommend
treatment as well as careful instruction
on the use of any medications. Please
call (940) 627-8044 for an appoint-
ment. Our office is conveniently located
at 2014 Ben Merritt Drive, Suite B,
Decatur. Healthy Futures Start Here.
Our friendly staff will always go the ex-
tra mile to make our patient’s visit most
comfortable.
