Missed It By That Much

2 Corinthians 13:5 – God’s word says we should test ourselves. So let’s use Scripture to
test what is most important… where we will end up.
Matthew 7:21-23
Verse 21a - You want to use John 14:6 with Romans 10:9 and stand on cheap grace.
Verse 21b - You cannot trick God Galatians 6:7-8. There is much more than just
recognition of Jesus as Lord. Becoming a Christian means turning to a life determined to
follow the Father’s will; to please the Spirit.
Test 1 - Before we can test ourselves to see if we’ve passed part one, we have to know
what it means to do the Father’s will and to please the Spirit.
John 6:28-29 – God requires that we believe in Jesus. What does this mean? (Master
and Commander of everything).
James 2:18-19 – Faith in Jesus is followed by good deeds. What are good deeds? There
are general deeds and Christian specific deeds (Ephesians 2:8-10). Because God
recreated us in Jesus, He also gave us a destiny that includes certain tasks to complete.
Romans 8:13-14 – Now we see that there are two types of deeds: outward (toward
others) and inward (toward your temple). What does it mean to be led by the Spirit?
Romans 12:1-2 – Your body and mind should be purified so that you complete fully all
the requirements of test one. Pure body – please the Spirit. Pure mind – do the Father’s
will (Colossians 3:17).
Verses 22-23 – The difference between doing things for God and knowing God. Even if
your life looks great on the outside – with miracles, signs and wonders; you could just be
fulfilling Jeremiah 12:2.
Biblical difference between tasting and eating
Verse 22 He isn’t impressed with the Christian who’s tasted the power of Jesus. (1 Peter
2:2-3, Hebrews 6:4-6).
Jeremiah 15:16 – Make God your sustenance (Matthew 4:4). Eat the things of God,
don’t just taste them.
Verse 23 ---
Test 2 Before we can test whether Jesus knows us, we must find out what it takes to be
known in heaven.
1 Corinthians 8:3 – Step 1 Love God. What does it look like to love God? (2 John 1:6)
– Good to know the Bible to know His commands. Must be led by the Holy Spirit to
understand His ways.

Step 2 – Matthew 10:32-33 – You want to be known by God? Then don’t be ashamed of
Jesus.

So what if you don’t make it in: Is it really that bad?

Matthew 25:46 aiōnios (eye-oh-knee-ohs) - without end, never to cease, everlasting.
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 – Punishment includes separation from God forever.
Revelation 20:10, 15 – Torment along with Satan, the Antichrist, and False Prophet. Do
you really want to be lumped in with those guys?

Let’s examine ourselves based on these two tests – Are you doing God’s will? Does
Jesus know you?
