ANSYS
1) Preprocessor > Modelling > Create > Volumes > Block > ByDimensions
Create volumes. I create 2 volumes. The dimensions of the 1st volume are the section
dimensions, and the length is the distance between two stirrups.

The 2nd volume is the volume inside the stirrups.

2) Preprocessor > Modelling > Operate > Booleans > Overlap > Volumes
Use this command to overlap the 2 volumes.

(picture after overlap)

3) Preprocessor > Modelling > Copy

25/11/2010

Ansys

Copy these two volumes so that you complete the total length of the beam.
Example: ITIME (Number of copies including original) = 20
Dx = 0.05
Dy = 0.
Dz = 0.

4) Preprocessor > Modelling > Create > Volumes > Block > ByDimensions
Create two volumes for two slabs for the supports and slabs to apply the loads on top of the
beam.

5) Preprocessor > Modelling > Operate > Booleans > Glue

> Volumes - Pick all
Use this command to glue the volumes.

Node Merge

5) Preprocessor > Numbering Ctrls > Merge Items (Nummrg)

- Nodes
Use this command to merge close nodes
