No Poultry Exhibits At Fair This Year

There will not be any poultry exhibits at the fair this year. State Veterinarian Doug
Meckes and Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler have announced that all North
Carolina poultry shows and public live bird sales will be suspended from August 15,
2015 to January 15, 2016, due to the threat of highly pathogenic avian influenza. This
includes the N.C. State Fair and Mountain State Fair poultry shows, bird shows at county
fairs, live bird auctions, and poultry swap meets. Highly pathogenic avian influenza is
a serious threat to the states poultry, and the threat of the virus will increase as the
migratory fowl migrate south this fall. These are precautions to prevent the introduction
to backyard and commercial flocks.

Department U Rabbits

Committee in Charge - Ryan Shoemaker and Nancy Keith

Due to the cancellation of all poultry exhibits, we will be having a Rabbit Show this year.
Due to lack of facility, this will most likely be a one-time show, as the Poultry Show will
resume in 2016.
1. Rabbits may be entered at the Poultry Building on Monday, the opening day of the fair,
if space permits. No entries received after Noon
Monday.
2. Competition is open to Iredell County residents only.
3. Rabbits may be left at Show to be entered only if placed in designated coops by owner.
4. All rabbits are entered at the risk of the owners. The Fair shall not be responsible for
loss, injury, theft, damage by lightning, wind, fire, or any other act, but the management
will exercise all possible vigilance in the care of exhibits at the exhibit hall.
5. Judging will begin after Noon on Labor Day. All rabbits not in place at the time will be
debarred from competition.
6. The Iredell County Agricultural Fair will employ a competent judge and his decision will
be final. Protest will be entertained only when accompanied by a fee of $25.00, this fee to
be forfeited unless protest is sustained by a majority of the judging staff.
7. Premiums only paid to worthy specimens. No sick rabbits accepted, and will be
checked regularly for disease, and may be removed if sick.
8. Exhibits to be removed from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday the day the fair
closes.
9. The fair will provide a person to feed the rabbits and attend them during the week.
10. The feed for this Rabbit Show will be furnished by Bartlett Milling Company.
11. Entries must be entered on official entry blank provided in back of catalogue or from
website and mailed to:
Nancy Keith
P.O. Box 311
Statesville, NC 28687
12. Entries close on Monday, August 31, 2015, a week before the opening of the Fair.
13. Mail your entry early. This right is reserved to reject entries after all available space
is taken.
