where parents can get together with other parents and school staff to learn how to assist in their childrens athome learning; instructional materials to help parents guide their childrens learning; educational games, books,
and videos that parents can use with children at home; and information about cultural and community services
and agencies to help families with educational, health, and social service needs. There are also computers available in the Family Resource Center for parents to apply for jobs or do their own school work.

There are many new and exciting things happening at Lindsay this school year! Below is a brief overview of Title
I and the support available to Title I families.
Title I: A Definition
Title I is a Federal aid program through which school districts receive funding to provide supplemental instruction for those students who qualify. Schools are found eligible for Title I aid based on the percentage of students
who receive free and reduced lunch. However, Title I services are provided for all students who attend Lindsay
Middle and qualify as needing assistance in language arts or mathematics regardless of income. Because of our
Title I status, Lindsay will continue to have academic support systems and a full-time Family Engagement Specialist.
Benefits of Title I
Children are expected to achieve at a faster rate with the help and support of Title I instruction. Research indicates that about nine of every ten students participating in Title 1 programs make gains in their academic
achievement.
