Two essential aspects of the mission of the AMSTEMM program are to retain and graduate Appala-

chian and Minority Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math majors. In support of this mission, AM-
STEMM has been awarded $52,000 in scholarship money from the University of Kentucky Women &
Philanthropy Network for the 2010-2011 school year.
About the scholarship & eligibility:
The award will supplement any other awards already received so there is no specific amount. Stu-
dents could be awarded up to the full amount for tuition, fees, room and board, and books. This
means there is no minimum or maximum number of scholarships that will be awarded.

Preference will be given to students who are one of the first generation in their families to attend
college.
Scholarships will be need-based with preference given to students whose families earn $50,000 or
less per year.
