CTE Classroom Procedures
Other Procedures & Expected Behaviors
Changing Classes: When dismissed by the teacher, quietly and quickly line up at the wall
nearest the door; dont block the window or entrance of the classroom.
While waiting, do not disrupt other classrooms.
Inappropriate behavior during this time will result in consequences.
Other teachers are having class as well; it is imperative that you are not disruptive in
the hallways.
Teachers Desk: Do not place or remove anything from a teachers desk unless you
are specifically told to do so. Papers/assignments are returned to the appropriate
basket unless you are instructed otherwise upon entering the classroom. Always check
your periods board area for instructions.
Drinks/Food/Etc.: You may NOT bring drinks or food into the lab. If you suffer
from a medical condition that warrants you bringing medically necessary food or drinks,
I will need physician documentation. No seeds, candy, gum, other edible items allowed.
Restroom: Take care of your visits before school and during your scheduled classroom
time. You will not be allowed to go to the restroom unless it is an absolute emergency.
Restroom sign out logs for each period includes: you are to sign out with the date, your
name and the time you leave without disrupting the class. Only one student is permitted
to leave at a time. If the teacher is giving instructions/teaching at that time, you must
WAIT. When you return, sign in with the time and immediately sit down to get back to
work. Report any problems when the teacher is not talking or working with students.
Bathroom times/passes will be checked for chronic/patterned exits to the rest room.
The sign out logs for each period will be compared to check for excessive usage or
issues that take place in the restroom. Parents will be notified of suspected problems.
Pencil Sharpener: The electric pencil sharpener will not be used at all during
instructional time.
Student Materials: A neatly organized backpack is allowed for class.
Always have your backpack out of the flow of traffic for safety purposes.

Quail Hollow Middle School

CTE Classroom Procedures
You should NOT need to continuously unpack your backpack during my class.
Organization will be critical to success in all of your classes.
Student Movement within class: Once you enter class, quickly sit down.
Remain seated unless you are otherwise instructed by the teacher (group work, new seat
assignment, restroom).
There is no reason you need to roam around the classroom. It is a disruption of the
educational process (discipline referral for repeat offenses).
All trash is to be collected and thrown away on your way out of class. Do NOT get up to
visit the trash can during any other time.
Dismissal from Class: When the teacher signals, log out, clean up your area, leave the
computer on, and line up with your belongings in that order.
Pick up any trash around you (desk, floor, hallway) whether it is yours or not.
This is good citizenship. Clean up time cuts into reward time if it is not adequately
taken care of in/during class.
The teacher will tell you to begin walking out of the classroom.
Student disruptions in class: Each teacher has a discipline recording sheet and access
to a system where offenses will be recorded. Three (3) or more disruptions in a given
class/severe/excessive disruption within a class will result in a more escalated
consequences. With multiple offenses throughout any day, you will receive a discipline
referral for insubordination, disruption of the educational process and disrespect.
Interruptions/Delays in Class: If an adult enters class, you are to immediately sit
quietly until the teacher gives instructions to follow or until the adult finishes the
conversation. You may finish working on the assignment. See Announcements for
intercom interruptions. Exception: Occasionally, administration or network guests will
come in to observe. Your teacher will let you know to continue what you are doing.
Returned/Graded Assignments: I will organize graded work for you and your parents to
view with your progress reports as well as additional scheduled days and times. Some
assignments can be graded for completion, accuracy, and/or effort. Most will be graded
using a rubric and will have a number and/or a letter grade.
**Parents: It is important you help students check their backpacks often to help
him/her stay on track.

CTE Classroom Procedures
Fire Drills (and other drills): Without exception, you are not to talk at all during any
drills. This is a safety issue. Inappropriate behavior (talking, pushing, socializing) during
any kind of drill will result in the appropriate consequences.
Headings: Each paper that students turn in must have the proper heading in the
designated location. No name = REDO!
Heading consists of
First AND Last Name, HR#
Date
Assignment
Example
Jack Doe, S-6
7-21-07
Graph of Grades
Each part is crucial to accurately grading and recording your work.
Incomplete Work: Work will be graded when it is due. Your teacher will determine if
your work will be returned for completion.
Late Work: You may be penalized with loss of points; this will be determined by your
teacher.
Makeup/Missed Work: You are responsible for checking/collecting/completing missed
work. If you have an excused absence, you will have an extra day for each day missed to
finish missed assignments. (Example: You miss Monday and Tuesday; you have
Wednesday and Thursday to compete your work.) You are still responsible for regularly
scheduled work as well; these are to be completed by the due dates even when you
have makeup work to do.
Long-Term Projects:
You will be given a time line with incremental completion dates and points assessed for
each element. A copy will be provided for you to take home.

Conduct & Grades:
Although a deduction of points for inappropriate behavior is not practiced, inappropriate
behavior usually directly impacts grades negatively.
If you do not follow the instructions or miss them because of your behavior, you may not
do as well on the assignment.
If you miss the due date because of your inappropriate behavior, you will again lose
points on your grade. You will still be expected to complete the assignment.

Generally, you will have enough opportunities for success and plenty of work.
Give your best effort and complete work on time for success.
*Note: I ONLY give extra credit for assignments completed when all other work
has been completed.
Each completed extra credit assignment will earn 10 points, with a maximum of 10 extra
credit assignments per marking period. The extra credit assignment will be factored
into the overall average.
