What are the chances?

Whos face is in the photo and whose name is on the

plaque? When Glasgows Irle Elementary School was
erected in 1958, Dr. Phil Smith was the Chairman of
the Glasgow Board of Education. Also on the Board
were Jorgen Dokken, Waldo Wetterling, Glen Dix and
John Kline. Now, 57 years later and with a brand new
Irle School, guess who is the Glasgow School Board
Chairman? Alison Molvig, the daughter of Dr. Smith!

and her father both being School Board chairmen
as each new school opened the doors, one in 1958,
the other in 2015? Dorothy Kolstad, Alisons sisterin-law, brought this astounding occurrence to our
attention. A grand opening was held for the new Irle

Letters to the Buzz

For the sake of Valley County

TAX IMPACT- For all St. Marie as well as Valley
and Phillips County resident owners! Please read past
Commissioner Pippins article in the Aug. 19th Buzz
or the abbreviated version in the #101 issue of Good
Evening St. Marie.

Pippin tells what and why about the future Bison
arrival and 1 million acres of land lost and MANY other
losses. He is speaking out to the BLM and Governor.

Dave Pippin will be at our St. Marie Town Hall on
Wednesday the 26th between 9 and 11 A.M. to explain
the issue with all the facts and laws and consequences
pertaining to this action. If you miss this opportunity
you can sign his petition down at the Buzz. His efforts
are for the good of all.

Resolution to create improvement district

To Glasgow Residents,
The proposed city resolution to create a special
improvement district to fund a portion of a used fire
truck has raised the question of how long the levy will
be in place.
The intent of this levy is for the yearly payment
of $25,601.08 be paid for 15 years, until the amount of
$350,000 is paid in full. At that time the levy will cease.

If this resolution is passed, property owners will be
assessed .0020 per 100 square feet on their property. An
example: our family home at 640 6th Avenue North has
9,100 square feet of property which will be charged at
.0020. This equates to $18.20 per year.
The City Council would like to hear your comments
and concerns on this issue at the Tuesday, September 8th City
Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers.

Sincerely,

Becky Erickson, Mayor

Daniel Snyder, owner of the NFL Redskins,

has announced that the team is dropping the word
Washington from the team name and it will
henceforth be simply known as The Redskins.
It was reported that he finds the word
Washington imparts a negative image of poor
leadership, mismanagement, corruption, cheating,
and lying, and is not a fitting role model for young
fans of football.
In another twist of events, the Coast Guard
intercepted a boatload of people off the Texas coast
early this morning. This placed the C.G. in an
awkward position, as the boat was not heading to
the USA, but towards Mexico and Central America.

Another surprise was the people were American
retirement-age seniors. Their claim was that they
were trying to get to Central America or Southern
Mexico, as they wanted to return to the USA as
illegal immigrants. Then they would be entitled
to far more benefits than they were receiving as
legitimate American retirees.

The Coast Guard did assist with food and water
as they tugged the boat load of senior citizens back
to the U.S.
