Description

SikaPoro G-230 is a foaming agent for various application fields.

Uses

SikaPoro G-230 is generally applicable as a foaming agent for the

production of porous lightweight construction materials by addition of
prefabricated foam.
SikaPoro G-230 is especially suitable for the production of

Gypsum boards

Lightweight concrete

Lightweight mortar

Characteristics /
Advantages

A stable foam is generated from SikaPoro G-230, water and air by

processing with a foaming device. This foam is added to the initial
fresh binder paste, mortar or concrete in the running mixer.
The air void content developing in the end product may cause:

Favourable workability and low-viscous consistency

Pumpability resulting from stable air voids

Well defined adjustment of raw density

Well defined adjustment of strength

Improved thermal insulation

An extension option for freezing water and hence a high frost / freeze-thaw
resistance

A reduction of capillary absorption

Improved water retention capacity
The benefits of SikaPoro G-230 include, but are not limited to the following:

High additive efficiency

Formation of small, uniformly distributed air voids, even under difficult
conditions such as high alkalinity

Very long foam stability, even in combination with other additives like
siloxanes

Storage Conditions/
Shelf Life

Protect from direct sunlight, frost and contamination. Only use clean tanks
and containers. After long-term storage: stir up before use.
12 months shelf life from date of production if stored properly in undamaged,
unopened, original sealed packaging.

System Information
Application Details
Consumption / Dosage

The consumption of foaming agent depends on the foaming device type

and shall be in the range of 150-250 g per 100 liters of foam.
The required amount of foam depends on the desired density or other
target properties. When used for the production of gypsum boards, typical
dosages are in the range of 0.02 - 0.2% by weight of binder.
Note: Preliminary testing is required to determine the exact dosage for
your specific conditions. Please contact our technical service for more
information and assistance.

Limitations
Compatibility

SikaPoro G-230 may be combined with other Sika products as well as

with many other additives used in gypsum, mortar and concrete applications.
Always conduct trials before application in specific mixes and contact our
technical service for information about specific combinations with Sika
products.
Impurities by e.g. oils, form oils, protective agents for mixers and machinery,
or aluminium particles may cause an uncontrolled variation of air void
contents.

Application Instructions
Dispensing

A stable foam from SikaPoro G-230, water and air is generated by

processing with a foaming device such as Sika SG 70 and SG S9.
This foam can be added to the initial fresh binder paste, mortar or concrete
in the running mixer. The required mixing time for uniform foam distribution
depends on the mixer type.
Do not dose into the dry mix-design components.

Application Method /
Tools

The formation of air voids in plaster slurry, mortar or concrete depends

on numerous factors. Different parameters must be taken into account,
such as temperature, mix-design composition, mixing time, compression
and pumping.
Initial testing is required before usage.

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.
