Definition of Seminar
Seminar is an instructional technique of higher learning which involves paper reading a theme
and followed by the group discussion to clarify the complex aspects col the theme.

In organizing the seminar the following roles are preformed:


1. Organizer or instructor.
2. President or chairmen of the Seminar.
3. Speaker of the day
4. Participants
5. observers
1 Role of Organizer
Responsibility of organizer is to plan and prepare the whole programme of seminar
He decides the theme of the Seminar and assigns the different aspects of theme to different
person who are speakers
The date, time and place are decided by him
Generally he suggests the name of the chairman.
He prepares total schedule of the seminar.
2 Role of Chairman or President:
The chairman must be well aware about the theme of the Seminar.
The Seminar activities are conducted by him such
He directs the whole program Encourages the participants to take part in discussion. He keeps the
discussion on the theme of seminar.
At the end he summarizes the discussion and presents his view point on the theme.
He has to give thanks to the speaker, participant sets and observers.

3. Role of Speakers:
They prepare the topics allotted to them thoroughly and zerox copies of the papers are prepared
and these are distributed among participants before commencement of the seminar.
The speakers should be ready to defend the questions.
The speaker should have the tolerance of critism of others.
4. Role of Participants:
They should be well acquainted with the theme of seminar.
They should be able to seek clarification and ask questions.
They should place their own ideas regarding theme based on their experience.
They should not put questions directly to the speakers.

There will be 25 to 40 participants in the seminar


5. Role of Observers:
Gests or observers are limited to observe the activities of the seminar.
They are not permitted to participate in the 3 discussion.
They should be allowed at the end of discussion and present their observations by permission of
chairman.
The Functions of The Teacher In Seminar
The functions of teacher are as follows:
Selecting the topic and giving reasonable time for preparation.
Removing in the background at the seminar, but sitting where she can see the whole group.
Being prepared to help out in the initial stages of seminar.
The Teacher has to confirm that essential points are, overlooked.
The teacher has to make sure that irrelevant discussions are avoided.
