Emergency Medical Technician Sammy King was on

hand for last Friday's football game, and isn't it always
nice when the EMTs have nothing to do? But it is

certainly assuring that an ambulance is in place for

high school sporting events, and a special thanks to all
of our EMTs for their outstanding service.

Obie, Legend of the Fall inducted into Canadian Hall

Montana natives Bob OBillovich
and Dave Dickenson were recently
inducted into the Canadian Football Hall
of Fame in a ceremony at TCU Place in
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Butte native Bob OBillovich, who
was a three-sport starter in baseball,
basketball and football at the University
of Montana in Missoula, spent five
decades in the Canadian Football League
as a player, coach and administrator,
capturing a Grey Cup championship
in 1983 as head coach of the Toronto
Argonauts.
Great Falls native Dickenson,
who led the Montana Grizzlies to the
1995 NCAA Division 1-AA national
championship, was a quarterback for the
Calgary Stampeders (1997-2000, 2008)
and British Columbia Lions (2003-07),
winning Grey Cups in 1998 and 2006.

He was a third-string quarterback

in the National Football League during
the 2001-02 seasons, spending all of
2001 with the San Diego Chargers and
2002 with the Seattle Seahawks, Miami
Dolphins and Detroit Lions. In 10 CFL
seasons he completed 1635-of-2421
(67.5%) passes for 22,913 yards and 154
touchdowns with 50 interceptions for an
outstanding 110.4 QB rating.
Called Super Dave and Legend
of the Fall in Montana, he is currently
the offensive coordinator/assistant head
coach of the Stampeders but will become
their head coach for the 2016 season.
Dickenson could possibly be
inducted into another hall of fame in the
near future as he is on the ballot for the
2016 College Football Hall of Fame, with
the results being released this winter.

Pioneer Museum's fall schedule now in effect

The new fall schedule
for the Valley County
Pioneer Museum is now
in effect with the hours
being Tuesdays through
Fridays, 1:00-5:00.
The latest Ivan Doig
book, "Bus to the Last
Wisdom", has arrived.
Doig is in the best
sense an old-fashioned
novelist. You feel as if
you're in the hands of an
absolute expert at storymaking.
In "Bus to the Last
Wisdom"Donal Cameron
is being raised by his
grandmother, the cook
at the legendary Double
W ranch in Ivan Doigs
beloved Two Medicine
Country of the Montana
Rockies. But when Gram
has to have surgery for
female trouble in the

summer of 1951,
all she can think
to do is to ship
Donal off to her
sister in faraway
Manitowoc,
Wisconsin. There
Donal is in for
a rude surprise: Aunt
Katebossy, opinionated,
argumentative,
and
tyrannicalis nothing like
her sister. She henpecks her
good-natured husband,
Herman the German, and
Donal cant seem to get
on her good side either.
After one contretemps
too many, Kate packs him
back to the authorities
in Montana on the next
Greyhound. But as it turns
out, Donal isnt traveling
solo: Herman the German
has decided to fly the coop
with him. In the immortal

A m e r i c a n
tradition, the pair
light out for the
territory together,
meeting a classic
Doigian ensemble
of characters and
having
rollicking
misadventures along
the way.
Charming, wise, and
slyly funny, is a last sweet
gift from a writer whose
books have bestowed
untold
pleasure
on
countless readers.

August Weather Wrapup

Despite eleven days in which the high temperature
reached 90 degrees or greater with three of those
climbing to 100 degrees or more, the month of august
still wound up only a tenth of a degree warmer than
normal. This was because there were seven days during
the month where the high temperature was only in
the 60s and 70s, and seven mornings in which the low
temperature was 50 degrees or cooler.
The average temperature for the month wound
up being 70.3 degrees. The high reached at least 100
degrees three straight days from the 12th through
14th, the warmest being 105 degrees on the 14th. This
three-day period marked the first time since August
16th, 2013 that Glasgow had reached 100 degrees. The
coolest temperature for the month was 38 degrees on
the morning of the 23rd.

August was also drier than normal. Only 0.84 inch
of rain fell during the month, which was 0.40 inch below
normal. The most rain came on the 18th when 0.35 inch
fell in a two hour period. There were only three days
during the month in which a tenth of an inch or more
was recorded. There were five more days where less than
a tenth af an inch was measured.
The wind gusted to 30 mph or greater on twelve
days in August. The highest wind gust was 47 mph on
the 12th.
Looking ahead to September, normal high
temperatures for the month begin in the upper 70s,
ending up in the mid 60s. Normal lows start out in the
lower 50s, winding up in the upper 30s by the end of
the month. Average moisture for the month is 0.94 inch
while average snowfall is 0.2 inch.
