2015 LOUD Performance Poetry Component

hosted at Praise Assembly-Beaufort

The purpose of this pilot program called Psalm Sessions, is to show students the
power of words to help improve public speaking skills and increase confidence in their
faith via the spoken word. Students will develop more of a critical thinking approach
through critique of original pieces. The confidence they will gain from presenting and
performing original poetry pieces will derive from exploring and writing about aspects of
their lives and their faith. By intertwining creative writing, creative expression,
and exploration of faith, we believe students can have a better understanding of
who and where they are in their walks with Christ.

Psalm Sessions will begin Thursday September 10, 201 at 4:00pm to 6:30pm. The Poetry
Component will continue each Thursday for six consecutive weeks. Students will meet
the same time each Thursday at Praise Assembly-Beaufort.

Required Items by students:

- 1 two in. binder (any color)

- Loose-leaf paper
- Writing pens
- Pack of highlighters
- Pocket dictionary
- Pocket thesaurus

STUDENT RELEASE PICK UP POLICY

As parent/guardian, I understand that Psalm Sessions, the LOUD Performance Poetry
Component hosted at Praise Assembly-Beaufort will begin immediately at 4:00pm and
will end by 6:30pm beginning Thursday September 10, 2015 and will continue each
Thursday for six consecutive weeks. Students will meet the same time each Thursday at
Praise Assembly-Beaufort. In order to be released to go home from the program,
students MUST be signed out by the parent/guardian or by one of the individuals
listed below.
