CAP'EM at EcoBuild '10

As part of the CAP'EM presentation at EcoBuild (the UK's green building expo) marking the completion of the first 6
months of a four year programme, GreenSpec provided the following illustrations of a small variety of construction
techniques employing 'eco-materials'.
NB. Whilst reasonable care has been taken to ensure that the information included in these drawings was correct at
time of publication, final detailing remains the responsibility of the designer.
Eaves detail with insitu hemp-lime

From outside to inside:

Roof:
• reused or recycled slate roof covering
• reclaimed, locally grown or FSC durable softwood battens and cross battens
• wind-tight 'breathing' roof membrane
• rigid insulation – dense wood fibre
• rigid insulation - with hemp-lime applied underside
Wall:
• render directly applied to hemp-lime
• hemp-lime applied to depth to suit required thermal performance
• minimum 19 x 38mm horizontal FSC softwood battens
• reclaimed, locally grown or FSC softwood timber frame and bracing.
