You Can’t Fight Fate…No Matter How

Much You Need To

BPOV
I woke up and saw the sun shining through my
window. I sighed. This was probably the last time I
would ever see the sun. I knew that this was my
choice. It was for my mother’s happiness. I had to
do this.
I went into the shower and relaxed at the
steaming hot water and the strawberry shampoo
scent soothed me. I got dressed and heard my
mom coming.
“Bella, honey, you don’t have to do this. For my
happiness, or not, I want you to do something you
want to do. Not something you’ll regret.” She said.
I looked into her wide eyes and saw the sacrifice
she was making.
“No Mom. It’s okay. I have two parents. Plus, I
haven’t see Charlie in over 7 months. It’s a win-win
situation here.” I lied.
It wasn’t a convincing one. My mother could see
right through me, even when I tried my hardest
not to let that happen.
“What are you winning?” she said softly.
“I’ll get to see my Mom be happy and I’ll get to
know Charlie.” I said. She sighed and let the
subject drop.
Phil smiled at us when we came downstairs for
breakfast. He made my favourite breakfast. White
chocolate chip pancakes, with fruit salad and small
cinnamon buns on the side. I knew why he was doing
this. He felt it was his fault for me leaving.
He was a good man. He was good for my mom and
I knew he would take care of her. We ate our
breakfast in silence and I excused myself to take a
walk.
There weren’t any friends for me to say good-
bye to. I had usually kept to myself. Even though it
was sometimes lonely, it made it just a bit easier
leaving, knowing that no one would miss me. I felt
the sunshine on my skin and I felt good. The sky
was cloudless and blue, the way it always was.
When mom and Phil were done breakfast and I
was done my walk, we went in the car and headed
to the airport. I tried to ignore my bags that Phil
had put in the trunk, but it was unsuccessful. We
made our way onto the highway and I turned
around…to watch my past drift away in the
distance.
When it was time to leave and say my good-byes
I was almost crying. I was about to leave my loving
mother behind to fend for herself. My mom was
crying too.
“I’ll email you everyday. I promise.” I said. This
was the only promise I could give her now.
“Me too Bells, me too.” She said. I looked at Phil.
“Take care of her. Will you?” I asked. Phil smiled.
“Of course, I always will. I’ll miss you Bella.” He
said.
“I’ll miss both of you.” I said. With a few last
word and a few last hugs, I went on the plane and I
flew. Farther and farther away from my home.
Closer and closer to my new one.
I saw Charlie when I came off of the plane.
There were hardly any other people in this small
Port Angeles airport.
“There she is!” Charlie said to no one. He gave me
an awkward hug and welcome.
“Good to see you Bells.” He said.
“You too, Ch-Dad.” I replied lamely. I never
called him Charlie to his face. I knew he knew I
did, but never confronted me about it.
The 2 hour drive to Forks was silent. I looked
out my windows and couldn’t help but to make a
comparison to my old home. It was too green here.
The constant over-cast of clouds in the sky was
like a black hole to me. A black hole eating at me
and drowning me in the darkness.
We stopped at a small house.
“Well, here we are,” Charlie announced. I smiled
at him and went to get my bags. It only took me
one trip to get all of my stuff upstairs to my new
bedroom.
It looked the same from my childhood. There
were few changes. The bed was bigger and there
was a new purple comforter on it and then there
was a desk. That was it. The old rocking chair was
still in the corner.
“Well, I’ll let you get settled.” Charlie said. He
left the room and shut the door. Finally, peace. I
no longer had to have to duty to please everyone or
reassure everyone. I didn’t have to smile all the
time. I could finally rest. That was one of the good
things about Charlie. He didn’t hover.
I finished unpacking and decided to take another
shower. The scent of my strawberry shampoo had
finally relaxed my tense muscles and I had time to
think. Think about my school day tomorrow, where
I would have to start all over. Somewhere where, I
had to act and look pleased, somewhere where I
would have to smile, act polite and deal with being
the centre of attention. It was like a nightmare. I
was in my pajamas and my hair was wet when
Charlie came up to talk to me.
“Ummm. Bells, I’ve got a surprise for you. C’mon.”
He said. He led me outside and on the curb was an
old Chevy truck. It was a faded red, now orange. It
was the type of car that wouldn’t have a dent if a
sports car hit it. It was old, it wasn’t flashy or
sleek, and I loved it.
“I bought this for you from Billy Black. He’s in a
wheelchair now and he didn’t need it, so I took it
off of his hands. I hope you like it.” He said.
I was amazed. A car!
“I love it Dad! It’s perfect, but you really didn’t
need too.” I said. He shook his head.
“I’m glad you like it.” He said. We went inside and
I headed upstairs for some much needed sleep.
“Goodnight!” I called.
“Goodnight!” Charlie replied.
I went back to my bed and lied awake. Thinking
about my past, present and future. I thought about
tomorrow, for the hundredth time and wondering if
anyone would really understand and like me.
It would be impossible, I decided. No one in a
sane world would like me. Outside from my family
and random strangers on the street, no one really
took notice on me.
I was plain and boring. A 17 year old who acted
middle-aged, was over observant and who was
unintentionally clumsy. Where was the excitement
there?
I woke up early. I had thought I was late with
the lack of sun, but took one look at the time and
knew I was wrong. It was 7:30 in the morning. I
had only gotten around 3 hours of sleep. Great. All
I need on the first day of school is to be tired.
I headed downstairs and found a note from
Charlie telling me he was at work. I didn’t really
bother with breakfast. I grabbed a pop tart and
headed out the door to my biggest nightmare.
As I got out of the car, as I expected, I
received tons of stares. I couldn’t look anywhere
without meeting a curious set of eyes.
EPOV
The new girl is here! I wonder what she’s like.
Hmmm. The shy, bookworm type. Maybe I have a
chance with her…
Man! She is hot!
Huh. What is she? A supermodel or something?

This was all I heard the whole morning. I groaned

and Emmett looked at me.
Dude! What’s up with you? You sound just as
tortured as the bear I killed yesterday…

I looked at Emmett and whispered quietly.

“It’s just the new girl. She’s all I here about.” I
explained.
BPOV
It was finally biology. I sighed. Just another
class where I would have to introduce myself,
correct the teacher about my name and fined no
one who looked like they really wanted to
understand me…or try to at least.
I walked up to Mr. Mason’s desk and gave him my
slip.
“Okay everyone. This is the new student, Isabella
Swan. You can have a seat beside Mr. Cullen.” He
said. I didn’t bother correcting him and I was just
glad I didn’t have to introduce myself.
I looked for where I was supposed to sit. It was
the only seat that was available. I sat down in it
and met a curious, beautiful pair of golden eyes.
EPOV
She was beautiful. I couldn’t deny that. No
wonder everyone’s been buzzing about her. She
took a seat beside me and I knew that she was
different. I couldn’t read her mind.
I tried hard, I tried harder, but still there was
nothing. It was like no one was even there. I took
that opportunity to introduce myself.
“Hello. I’m Edward Cullen. Are you Bella?” I
asked.
BPOV
I sat down and that’s when I heard the most
amazing voice any pair of ears could hear.
“Hello. I’m Edward Cullen. Are you Bella?” He
asked. I looked at him and was suddenly
incoherent. He was like a Greek God. His face was
angular and perfect in every way. I looked back at
him and realized I hadn’t replied yet.
“Y-yes.” I stuttered lamely. He chuckled and I
felt like I was in heaven.
I felt my face flush and I looked down. I saw
that his shirt was tight against his muscles. He
really was perfect.
EPOV
When she blushed I felt the venom starting to
build up in my throat, but I pushed it down as hard
as I could.
It was like the ground was taken from under my
feet, and the only thing tying me here was her.
We had worked together and I found out that
she was very good at biology.
“Wow. You’re very good at this.” I said. She
blushed again.
“Thanks. I was in an advanced program back in
Phoenix though.” She said. That would explain
things. She was so interesting. I had to learn more
about her.
“Why did you come here to Forks?” I asked. She
looked a bit shocked at my question.
“Well, ummm… my mom sorta got remarried to
this guy Phil. He plays ball for a living and has to
travel a lot. My mom stayed with me…but I knew
she wanted to go. So, I decided to pack up and
travel here so she could go with him.” She
explained. She was very unselfish, I liked that
about her.
“Would I know him?” I asked. I knew a lot about
baseball and I knew a lot of Phil’s. I wonder which
one would be her step-dad.
“No. He plays minor league. Nothing big.” She
replied.
“So now you’re unhappy?” I guessed. She looked
at me for a long time and then looked around the
room. We were the first ones done, so she
continued.
“No…not unhappy. Just a bit homesick. I-I didn’t
really fit in at my old school, so I never really liked
the idea of coming here. What are the chances of
me finding friends here, when there are over 700
kids there?” She asked. I looked at her for a long
time. Why wouldn’t she fit in? She was very
friendly, interesting and not to mention beautiful…
The bell rang and as I grabbed my books I said,
“Well. Consider me your first official friend.” I
smiled at her. She smiled back.
“See you later.” I winked. I left her there,
blushing and mentally incoherent.
BPOV
I was walking on sunshine for the rest of the
morning. He said he was my first official friend. I
would hold him to that. I met up with a girl from
PE, Angela, and we went to the cafeteria for lunch.
When we entered I looked around for him. I
found him at once. He was sitting with other,
equally beautiful people. They looked nothing alike
except for their golden eyes, paleness and bags
under their eyes.
When we had gotten our food, we sat down with
Angela’s boyfriend, Ben Cheney. I looked at Angela
and whispered, “Who are they?” as I quickly looked
at them. She smiled.
“Those are the Cullen’s. They were all adopted by
Mrs. Cullen and Dr. Cullen. Those two blondes,
Jasper and Rosalie are really brother and sister
though. They’re all together though. Emmett, the
one with big muscles, is with Rosalie, the blonde.
Jasper, the other blonde, is with Alice, the pixie-
like one. Edward is the only one that’s single. They
all came here from Alaska three years ago.” She
finished.
I blushed when she was done. Thankfully, she
changed the subject.
“So how you like it here? I know the work is………”
EPOV
I looked at Bella when she’d asked Angela about
us. She blushed at the very end of it. I was staring
at her for the whole lunch period.
“Do you like her, bro? Or are you just droolin’
cause you’re hungry?” Emmett asked. I hissed
under my breath.
“Whoa! Backing off now.” He smirked. It boggled
my mind, the way she had reacted to things. She
was interesting.
BPOV
“Um, Bella, Edward is staring at you.” Angela told
me.
I couldn’t help it. I blushed and looked over. I
met his eyes and once again was in heaven.
The day passed quickly. Meeting people, talking
to people and correcting people was all I did
outside of class. That, and think about him.
Unfortunately, I had to figure out the hard way
that I only had Biology with him.
This boy, Mike, seemed a bit too overfriendly at
lunch. Edward saw the way Mike looked and talked
to me today. He looked a bit jealous, I had to
admit, and I liked that.
I went home and made dinner for Charlie. The
whole time we were eating I was thinking about
Edward. What was he doing right now? Was he
thinking of me? Did he like me?
All of these questions were left unanswered
when I went to bed. That was the first night I
dreamt of Edward Cullen.

I woke up on cloud nine, knowing that I would get

to see him again today. I laid out my clothes,
choosing wisely. I settled on a blue blouse, black
skinny jeans and a pair of black flats.
I quickly took a shower and grabbed a granola
bar for breakfast. I darted out to my car and
made my way to an angel.

EPOV
I watched as Bella stumbled out of her car. She
saw me looking at her and blushed. She blushed
even more when she saw me approaching.
“Good morning Bella.” I said politely.
“Good morning Edward.” She replied.
“You do know that I’m going to hold you up for
that.” She said. I was puzzled.
“Hold me up for what?” I asked. She blushed a
little and I knew I had forgotten something big.
The previous day’s events had flooded to me. Now
I remember…
“Oh! I know what you’re talking about. I’m glad
you will. I am your official friend though. Never
forget it.” I said. She smiled.
“As proof of that, would you like to sit with me
at lunch today?” I asked. I hoped and prayed that
she would say yes. Maybe I was going to fast.
Maybe she thinks I’m freaky. I was snapped out of
my worries when I heard her lovely voice.
“Y-yes, p-ple-please.” She stuttered. I chuckled.
We continued talking as I walked her to her first
class. I almost got down on my knees and sobbed
when it was time to say good-bye. I didn’t want to
let her go. She seemed just as reluctant as me. I
liked that.
“Good-bye.” She croaked. Her voice was barely a
whisper.
“Good-bye. I’ll see you in Biology.” I reminded
her. She seemed to grow happier at that fact. I
smiled and left her. I couldn’t wait to see her in
Biology.

BPOV
English, French and Government passed in a blur
and I was now walking to Biology. I couldn’t wait to
see him. I struggled at walking to Biology. People
would look and stare if I ran there, even though I
had 10 minutes to spare. Then Edward would ask
me why I was huffing and breathless. And then, I
would blush again and bring around another set of
questions. I could picture it in my head as I walked.
Before I knew it, I had reached my target. The
Biology classroom. I walked in and looked beside
the seat were I sat. I was happy with what I saw.

EPOV
Bella came in. She looked embarrassed. I wonder
why? She looked at me and smiled. Bella, being
Bella, happened to trip on her own two feet on the
way to her seat. I caught and steadied her.
“Thanks.” She mumbled. She blushed again.
Since we were both good at biology, we had
managed to finish our work 45 minutes before the
bell. Great, more time for us to talk!
“So, do you like it here?” I asked casually.
“Umm, well…now I do.” She said blushing. I wasn’t
going to let her get away that easily.
“Why the sudden change of thought?” I asked.
She blushed again, but continued.
“Because, now I have a friend.” She said. I
grinned. I grinned wider than I have ever before,
in my whole existence.
“Yes, that’s right. You have a friend.” I replied.
“Okay, let’s play 20 questions.” I said. She raised
one of her eyebrows in confusion, but agreed.
“Me first.” I said. She nodded, letting me have
my way.
BPOV
We played 20 questions for the rest of the day.
I looked at him real good before I left for my next
class. The thing that really confused me was his
eyes. How could someone’s eyes be perfectly
golden? I didn’t bother to ask. I had managed to
cram every perfect detail into my head before
walking off to my next class. Maybe I was
imagining but he looked like he was doing that too…

EPOV
We still had 5 minutes to the bell. We were
saying goodbye when someone fanned themselves
with their binder while walking past Bella. That’s
when it hit me. It hit me hard. The venom flowed
through my mouth freely. I tried to swallow it
down, but nothing worked. I didn’t know how I
hadn’t noticed it in the first place.
She smelled amazing. Nothing compared to a
mountain lion, or bear, or even any other human.
She was mouthwatering. She smelled like
strawberries because of her shampoo. But I didn’t
know what to compare her blood to. Watermelon on
a hot day? Water on a hot desert? Cinnamon,
honey, honeysuckle, coffee, pizza, chocolate,
cupcakes…nothing compared. No human food or
blood could have an inch of the desire I had to
drink her blood. She was somehow floral too…
I could come up with millions of ways to kill her.
I could say I wanted to show her a CD in my car. I
would grab her and take her somewhere out of
people’s eyesight. I could pretend to be sick and
ask her to take me to the nurses’ office, I could
tell her to ditch so I could spend more time with
her. And she would listen. She would listen because
I was made a monster.
She liked the way I smelt, the way I sounded and
not to mention the way I look… I knew she liked
me. I knew she was falling in love with me. It would
be so easy to persuade her. I started to come up
with strategies. She smiled at me and that’s when
I lost it.
I lost my monstrous feeling and got my conscious
back. I thought about my family and what it would
do to them if we would have to move again. I
thought about Bella lying there. Lifeless, cold,
never to blush again…and all of her dreams and
memories gone.
No. I would not be the one to take that away
from her. It would not be me.
The bell rang and saved me from being a
monster, and it saved Bella’s life. She looked up
and blushed. Why was this happening? Just when I
thought I would have a chance of sparing her life
she goes on and she blushed.
“Bye.” I grumbled and fled out of the biology
classroom.
“Bye.” I heard her whisper. This was the last
thing I heard. That and all of my own thoughts, to
taunt and remind me of what I had almost done.

BPOV
“Bye.” I whispered. What had I done? I answered
all of his questions. I didn’t offend him by anything
I said. Or did I? I watched him leave the biology
room in a rush.
I was then left there. Left there to ponder what
had just happened.

* tell me if u want me to continue. I tried to make

it longer. If u want me to continue, the 2nd part
won’t be posted for awhile cause I want to get the
Edward and Bella series done first. That and I
want to make the 2nd one long too. Comment! It’s in
your hands if u want me to continue. Xoxo, peyton
